DCL Changes You'd Make

Keep Pluto's and Scoop's open later. Trust me, after our dinner at Palo, I was dying for a cheeseburger!

That's just a few. And I know I'm in the minority about Palo, but I'm a simple county bumpkin who feels out of place at a stuffy place like that.

Hey -- I agree with you -- perhaps we just aren't into formal dining. (We really ARE in the minority here!)

something besides cokes for soft drinks(this is mostly since mom and C drink Dr.Pepper and Pepsi)

The higher up you go on decks - the more motion you feel....got the picture????

Love the Shutters idea - just brilliant!!!!!! Would cut down on the stealing (both taking pictures without paying and copying them with their own cameras) and maybe then the cost. Who wouldn't buy more if the cost was less?????

I've heard the word "casino" both publically and privately - personally, there isn't a problem on my end - Eastern has a few but nothing on Western, but having one on the ship - maybe we could design it - you know "Three Mickey Heads is a Jackpot"!!!!

More smoke free areas at night - dear Lord, those of us with breathing problems don't need to get cancer on top of everything else!!!!!!

And of course, my favorite suggestion ----

BRING FIDELIO BACK TO THE MAGIC!!!!!!!
DUELING PIANOS RULE!

Drop Key West on the Western and substitute either C.C. or another island.

Being able to pick your servers upon making final payment would be nice as previously suggested. If that is not possible, then how about choosing your table number?

I agree with the idea of warming up the pools a little. Last cruise the adult pool was very cold, too cold.
More ice cream places would be nice. How about a late night ice cream parlor? With real ice cream.

1) Better coffee

I'll admit, reading these boards before the cruise and hearing about the coffee on board didn't faze me, I can usually drink it hot or cold, weak or strong (prefer strong!), cheap or expensive...

But once on board I realized the coffee and I weren't going to be a happy couple.

This was pre Cove Cafe, and maybe they serve better coffee there, but still, I like drinking coffee with my meals (or at least with dessert after my meals) and wouldn't want to have to dash off somewhere else to get it.

So that's my vote! Rae, you had a great suggestion for making more room on the comment card for written comments, most cruise lines never have enough comment lines for all my comments, but the DCL card had NO lines for comments so we used the margins to write on until we ran out of margins. :D

Well...here's my 2 cents:

1). Revise the Menu at Palo. Maybe include steak or ANYTHING besides the current menu. The menu reminds me of poor ripoff of The Olive Garden without any good bread.

Before I get flamed for this remark, please understand that we all have our opinions and each one is valid - this is only my opinion but......

I lived in Italy for three years and went "native". It is a place that I would go back time and time again (and have). IF my life had taken a different turn, I would have remained there permanently and enjoyed my life. BUT it didn't, and now I have a very difficult time with any Americanized Italian restaurants. I was very disappointed when I read the Palo menu - It just wasn't northern Italian (or even Southern or Sardanian) to me!!!

As a huge fan of tiramesu, and Italian desserts in general - I can't believe they are serving those desserts. Yes, the sweet bread is good, but I never had anything like that in Italy!!! What about the traditional Italian desserts that we can get in Little Italy bakeries???? Nope, not there!

Yes, I realize that this is MY experience, and I didn't go to the haute cuisine 5 star restaurants - I can only say that the menu's at the places I dined at were excellent and not at all like those at Palo.

I do the brunch but the dinner never "turned me on". So I will ditto Sebastian's remark with my own.

First Magic~ just got back from the 11/8 & so sorry to disappoint you... the coffee hasn't improved any at all...

Cove Cafe Mocha's were very good, but you can't get just a good ol' cup of coffee in there, or really anywhere onboard (& I am not a coffee snob...). They refer you to the serving station swill... The coffee at dinner was a little better, but they still have the Nescafe contract. My DD thinks Disney should buy Dunkin Donuts, so they'll have it on the ship- LOL! Now that would make really happy!

We didn't think the food on the ship was that good at all this trip & this was our 3rd cruise- we liked it very much on our first 2 cruises. I just felt like I was being served banquet dinner every night. Several nights, it wasn't even served that warm.... I think they really need to change the menus. Parrot Cay is the worst... I spoke with several people who cruised Disney before & they felt the same way too.

Palo's is the best food on the ship, but I agree with Rae & Sebastian- the food is not equal to a high quality Italian restaurant. They need to change that menu too, more variety...The atmosphere is very nice & that's what makes it special.

The only other suggestion was made aready, which I second- Forget Key West- what a waste! Go to Castaway Cay, or another day at sea would be just fine....

I agree with the professional photos, perhaps if there were more variety in the backdrops available, the lines wouldn't be 30-40 minutes long or more.

The other thing I would like changed is more variety of food in between the popular meal times. Perhaps having Topsiders open for snacks in between lunch and dinner or adding more choices to the room service menu.

I think the Rainforest Room should be free....Afterall, it is not a spa treatment....I always thought it was a little cheesy that they charge for its use...

In response to the Palo menu, while I thouroughly enjoyed my meal there and I am a picky eater, I would have to say to make some more nonfish meals. If you look at the menu, not only do they have a fish section, but 2 out of 5 of the pastas and even one of the meats also include fish. That sort of limits the menu for those who dont eat fish.
Ok, so thats really not a major complaint, but since we were on the subject of Palo food... ;)

Keep the ships as they are with NO CASINO :D

When we went on Royal Caribbean the Casino was smoky :( and usually had only a few people in it. We had to walk through it a couple times. Very unpleasant:(. The space Disney does not put into a Casino and more is in the Children's programing. We checked the children's spaces on the Royal Caribbean and it was very limited. We saw kids wandering around and monopolizing the elevators on Royal Caribbean. Did not see that on DCL.

How about caffeine free diet pop? FREE sounds good to me.

Better air conditioning in the cabins. So you can keep the verandah doors open if you so choose..

And complimentary foot massages the first night on board after a grueling five days at WDW...

I second (and third) the hammock issue.

Why can't people just take turns?

Take an hour or something, take your nap and then let someone else have a turn!!

We teach our children to share, but when we become adults, it's me me me :(

Maybe there could be signs posted that the hammocks are for "sharing" not hogging.

Spa ressies ahead of time would be wonderful! And a cancellation fee for things so people wouldn't just hog times "just in case" (again  )

We sailed a couple of weeks ago, and I came down with a head cold and spent more hours than I would have liked in bed trying to sleep. I was startled awake more than once by not only children, but adults running down the hallway. I nailed one parent in hot pursuit of his off spring, telling him he should be sick and awaken to such racket on the other side of the door.
I was amazed to read in The Navigator to be "quiet" after midnight, but nothing about running down the hallways, at all. Next time, we'll move further Aft to at least get somewhat of a break from the stampede.
Also, the Ice Tea was the worst I've ever had in my life. It was made of yucky powder. We ended up making our own ice tea from regular tea bags brewed doubly strong in a cup and deluted it down into our empty water bottles. How about some fresh brew??

Mickey ice cream bars should be available at Scoops, not just in the restaurants at dinner. BTW, rename Scoops...soft serve should not come from a place named Scoops.

I'd like to see no smoking allowed at any time in Rockin' Bar D on the Magic and WaveBands on the Wonder. As I understand it, they now ban smoking during family hours but they allow smoking in the bar area and across the entire back of the room during adult hours. My experience on the Magic in 2002 was that the ventilation was poor, and smoke filled the entire room.

Rockin' Bar D is an entertainment location. By allowing smoking in Rockin' Bar D, DCL denies access to the entertainment in Rockin' Bar D to those passengers for whom smoke is a health problem. And it diminishes the enjoyment for those passengers who simply dislike the smell of smoke.

I'm not saying that smokers should not be allowed in Rockin' Bar D — just that they should not be allowed to smoke there.

Perhaps DCL could provide a comfortable, enclosed, ventilated (to the outside) smoking lounge in the Beat Street / Route 66 area — and make all the clubs smoke free.

DCL is already a leader in providing clean indoor air for passengers. According to Disney's official DCL website, currently there are only two indoor smoking locations on each ship. (I assume this means there is no smoking in Diversions or the Cove Cafe on the Magic; that's good news.) According to DCL's Q&A page:

Where can I smoke onboard?
Smoking is permitted only in designated areas of the ship. Guests are allowed to smoke on open decks (except near the Mickey pool) and on the verandah of their stateroom. Inside, smoking is permitted within Sessions and Rockin' Bar D in the Beat Street entertainment district on the Disney Magic® and within WaveBands and The Cadillac Lounge in the Route 66 entertainment district on the Disney Wonder®.

I think this is an excellent suggestion! Although, I would go a step further.

I don't think that smoking should be allowed anywhere inside the ship, period. DCL should provide designated smoking areas on Deck 10 and on designated private verandahs.

I attempted to enjoy Sessions one evening on a past cruise and ended up leaving after about ten minutes due to the invasiveness of the smoke. I don't think that it's quite fair that I have to choose between going without a form of entertainment or suffer ill consequences due to someone else's poor decision to smoke.

I just wanted say I agree with adding a more age appropriate activities for the 12-14 year old crowd - Then have a 15-17 - Those age groups are more in line - I really think this would be wonderful -

My suggestion is for better Navigators - They just don't seem very organized to me - Color Coded or just a better layout - I know everything is listed according to time, but not all activities are listed there - I think a better lay out would be great -

We are not 'there' yet, but I agree with the need to have a seperate 12-14 year old program. My DH and I have already decided that when our kids are too old for the 10-12 year old group, we will only do 'short' cruises or maybe even find other things to do for our vacation those years.
