DCL Chamilia Charm

First off, thank you to those who addressed my "upside down ship on a necklace" issue. :wizard:

So... I went to Disneyland the other night and had to figure this out --- which of course resulted in giving the Mouse more of my money. :faint: So, here's where I am right now with my necklace and my upside down hanging ship.

First, I checked out (translation: looked at and later bought) the castle charm. (Hey! You gotta have the castle!) And the pumpkin carriage. (Come on now, it's Cinderella's coach!) princess:

Then I talked to the CM there about the necklace / ship issue. I had the ship with me. She took out a bracelet and we put the ship on it. Upside down it went. :upsidedow Not an issue on the bracelet, but illustrated the problem for the necklace. She suggested using locks. :confused3

Then she showed me a lock and how I might be able to work with it on the necklace. They only had one in stock, but she showed me her idea. And, yeah, I bought it because I think it could be the key to my solution (once I get a second one ).

And then I bought the bracelet because a lady likes options. :flower3:

So... here we are:

My three charms and a lock on a bracelet

And how they would hang on a necklace :upsidedow

But... if I shove the ship all the way over to the end of the bracelet and push it in place with the lock, when I hold it up and it's hanging:

So... if I can get another lock, I think I might have a right-side-up floating ship on a necklace. :yay:

And now I have a bracelet too!

Thanks for the ideas and input. If anyone has any questions I can answer, let me know.

I also want to thank everyone for the conversation/input... I went out and got a bracelet and a couple of locks earlier today after checking out the selection at a local jeweler. Can't wait to start getting some charms on our cruise in a few weeks!

Just out of curiosity, I've been doing some digging and it seems like some of the Disney charms are becoming seemingly scarce, as though they are being discontinued... what sort of selection do they have on the ship? Do they carry other charms, like some the murano glass or jeweled beads on the ship? What about in the parks? Has anyone noticed a decline in stock/selection?

I think that DCL does not get charms in as often as retailers, the only DCL only charm that I have ever seen is the ship with the logo. They do carry a limited selection of other Chamilias, and I imagine that those are what ever the merchandiser thinks will sell, they can't carry them all, for sure. I have seen Pandora beads in some ports as well as Troll, the Pandora prices were equal to what I would pay here with tax, no bargain at all. As far as decline in availability, they only have so many on the ship and when they are gone, they have to wait until they can be restocked, which could take until the ship is back at home, or several weeks.

Thanks for the demo and pics! This helps me a lot - I was wondering if the locks would hold something right-side-up, which it looks like it will :thumbsup2

Good idea to get the bracelet and a couple of locks before the cruise in case the selection is limited on the ship. I'm now thinking of doing the same thing...and crossing my fingers that they have the DCL charm for both of us! ;) Good Luck! :goodvibes

Good luck to you too! Just got the word today that my bracelet/locks are on their way (had to have them ordered)... can't wait! We leave in 17 days! :cool1:

Can anyone tell me if the sell the locks on the ships? Going on the Dream in February with a Pandora bracelet. I '"could" take the camilla charms I have now off and go to Pandora to buy the locks but would just prefer to do it all at once on the ship.

Just wanted to update- they had a bunch of the DCL Chamilia charms on the Magic during our Christmas cruise. I made sure to get to the store right when they opened, but they seem to have plenty available as they never sold out during our cruise. They had a great selection of other charms too, better than most of the stores in the parks, but I do not recall seeing any of the locks. They did have some of the bracelets, but not the full selection from the Chamilia catalog. Happy shopping! :)

I got the DCL charm on our cruise on the Magic in February. As an FYI, if you have a Pandora bracelet, make sure you bring it with you and ensure the charm fits on before purchasing it. The one I bought did and it just happened there was another lady there who had just bought one and she overheard me talking and asking to ensure it fit. I let her put the one she bought on my bracelet to try and it didn't fit...so she picked another of the same one and it worked.

Can you purchase bracelets too? If you can, do they run around the same price as you would get them at a land based store?

I'm trying to decide if I want to buy the DCL bead (if available) first and then wait to buy the bracelet when I get home or buy the bracelet first. It sold on the ship then I can buy the bracelet as my souvenir.

They do have the bracelets too...at least they did on the Magic last week. On day 2 of our 5 day cruise they only had 3 DCL beads left. My husband inquired and got one for me (gotta love that guy)! So go get your bead quickly!:hourglass:hourglass

Thank you! I'll be looking for it as soon as I'm allowed to shop in the stores.

I got the cruise ship charm for my wife as soon as they opened up on the first morning. I didn't want to take a chance they would run out. :( I need all the brownie points I can get. :rotfl2:

I was on the Fantasy MV - they had several different charms (including the ship) and bracelets. Also had a lock - but in just 1 design. I also saw charms and bracelets on the Dream last September.

bought a bracelet for my dgd while i was on the ship two weeks ago. it was $49.50, no tax. they are $65.00 plus tax in our local jewelry store. the charms were also cheaper. i picked up a few more in grand cayman as well.

The $60 is what you can get them for at the stores around here too. I'll be looking for the bracelets and the charms. :)

Which store on the Magic has the beads?

It is not Mickey's Mates, it is the other one.. Treasure Ketchers? It is in the case with all the other nice jewelry. I see you are on the Magic tomorrow. I hope you have a wonderful trip and nice sunny skies at CC.
