If you have an CM oceanview space available cabin, would it be possible to purchase an upgrade to a verandah either on board or just before sailing.

Your experience could be different but when Ive tried this I’ve been offered an upgrade if available but you are paying full guest price for the upgrade and it would’ve been much cheaper to just reserve a veranda at the cast rate when I booked (ie in Alaska I was having second thoughts and asked at port…the cost for an upgrade was almost half the total I paid for our ocean view room, needless to say I ended up keeping our ocean view & absolutely loved our room!).

Thank You Melody, Verandas at cast rates were not available when I booked so I am going to just see what is available when at the port and how much. It never hurts to ask.

Have you tried to call the Cruise line to see if they have a veranda room available? The port will charge you the regular guest rate to upgrade. You might also check guest relations once the cruise sets sail.

I have upgraded from a Cast Discount O/V cabin to a Cast Discount Verandah cabin a few times. I had called before the cruise and if the cabin category was available they just charged me the difference in Cast member prices.

We just had an ocean view on Deck 2 on the Fantasy last week (just got home yesterday) and I tried to upgrade to a verandah before the cruise and it was not available at the cast rate anymore.

I believe if the cabin category you want to upgrade to (inside to O/V or O/V to verandah) is still available at a CM discount you should just be charged the difference in price

My Stateroom still says GTY.

Should I wait till I get an assigned Stateroom before I call?

You should call now to see if any Cast Verandahs are available. Not all available categories are listed on the cast list. It doesn't matter that you are still GTY....they won't assign cabins until closer to sailing. You just want to upgrade the category so call now and see what they say. You would pay the difference if the verandah CM rate is available.

You may call now and they may say that there are no CM discounts available for verandahs. It is hit or miss.
