We were at the resort this past veteran's day. DCA didn't open till 10 but someone told my dh they open the gates at 9:30 and you can go on Ca Soarin. Was this just cuz it was a busy weekend or do they do this all the time? And it DID open early and we were able to do that. So I was just wondering if that is normal or was just a special thing.

We are going in February and I was wondering if it was worth getting there that early or if that is just something they do on VERY busy days.

TIA for any help.

I believe that is normally for guests of the GC hotel.

I don't know about that but we were staying at the Castle and when we were at DL the day before they said that DCA would open at 9:30 and sure enough it did. We were only able to get into the front area and ride Soarin but had to wait for rope drop for hollywood backlot and the rest of the park.

I don't know if this was a special deal cuz it was so busy that day or because they were filming the christmas parade at DL and wanted to get the people off the esplanade but that was why I was asking. EVEN if they do let people in a half hour early I bet it is only on REALLY busy days or weekends anyway and we are going on a Tuesday so it probably doesn't matter. I just thought it would be nice to know since we could get in a bit early but I am thinking maybe it was a special thing that they reserve for REALLY busy days.

We are just back from GCH. Both the GCH and main entrances open simultaneously at 9:30AM (GCH entrance actually waited for the go ahead from the main entrance before admitting guests). You do not have to be a GCH guest to get in main entry and they didn't check whether you were a guest or not at the GCH entry.

The only ride that is open before 10A is Soarin.

Great that was what I was wondering!! Thanks! :)

I just got done reading the UG, and it said that DCA has some unusual patterns for opening early. First, they said they typically open the gates at 9:30, but don't let you go past the sun dial, leaving everyone time to go to the restrooms, do some shopping, get strollers, etc. Then, they do a "open early" where they open the park up at 9:30 and don't hold you in the main sun dial area. And, a third option (which UG says is most common) is that they open the gates at 9:30 (or even earlier) and allow access to a few rides. The UG says, rule is, get there early and check it out.
