Debt Dumpers 2025

I like to grate up fresh carrots and slivers of celery, etc to add to those premade deli containers to improve.
The price of gas on WDW property jumped 30 cents overnight driving into work for night shift leaving in morn
Hope that was holiday but might be combo tariff/holiday
Hope it is better today
Did anybody else notice unusually high pricing ?
I need to stock up for hurricane supplies at BJs in Florida and have started using their gas but not happy with quality .
The best gas ever is QuikTrip that sponsors the Kansas City Royals Baseball Team . They guaranteed their gas quality .
I wish they could franchise in Florida .
I think they made a NO Compete agreement with 7/11 a long time ago.
Our BJs gas isn’t bad here near Philly. Our Costco gas is terrible. My car runs rough if I use that so I’ve been avoiding it.

Gas around me has jumped within the last week or so as well. Was at $2.89 for months, it’s about $3.25 at most stations now.

It was down to 4.52 from 4.59 when I saw it Saturday. But it varies widely around me, but I always use fuel points to save a dollar so I get it at this station, nowhere can beat that. I thought the added gas taxes on July 1 would make it go up so it going down was a nice surprise. Still won't be shocked if it hits 5 bucks before the end of the year.

THe gas station I go to (and the other 3 around it) has been $2.66. If you move outside of that it goes up. About 15-20 minutes down the highway it is over $3.00

Oh how I miss Quik Trip! I'm originally from KC and grew up with it but now live somewhere they don't have it. I think they have a no compete clause with Casey's too. But I've trained my son that we stop there anytime we are on a trip and pass one so there's that. 😉

And their taquitos are freaking fastastic!

For those of you whose school ended last week - why did your school end so late? Do you start late?

My nieces ended first week of June, I think they started school 2nd to last week or last week of August.
I live in Virginia and for about 30 years we had what was known as the "Kings Dominion Law." Kings Dominion theme park, just north of Richmond, lobbied for a law that did not allow schools within a certain radius of the park to start before Labor Day so they'd have more summer tourism and teenagers to work in the park. It just ended a few years ago. I always went to school the Tuesday after Labor Day through about the second week of June.

That's interesting, I actually went out last night and noticed gas had dropped about 15-20 cents in my area. Not sure why. We have been hit with tariffs in our house building process though. $800 on the fireplace alone. I chose to pay far in advance for flooring and heat pump in order to lock in prices for those.

you are making my flash-back to my teen years when there was always some angst between one of the big regional theme parks and the local high schools b/c the theme parked LOVED to hire the very talented and well trained marching band musicians as seasonal performers but despite the school year ending and begining back up somewhat aligning with their tourism season-marching band members like the football players began their practices a full month ahead of time. the quality of musicians always declined a bit if you went in the latter part of the summer.

good for you on locking that in! I remember being very glad we paid a smidge more to secure a price-lock guarantee from a national moving company when we moved across a few states. gas prices were wonky then too and we did'nt want to chance a spike so we locked it at the price at the time of the quote (good thing we did-they spiked).

good wishes on the house build!

Our gas at BJs is $2.79 and our local Lukoil it's $2.86. I don't really follow gas prices like I should. I use so little gas because I take a train to work. It's not even a 3 mile drive each way. If I could stand to leave much earlier, I could ride a bike but I'm always flying out the door with shoes untied rushing to catch my train. :sad2:

Well folks, I got the apartment in Texas!
Move in day will be early September... which is 2 days after my family's big Disney world/universal trip.
I still have to go back CA after the trip to pick up the dog from the sitter and stay with him until Thursday because my sister is in school ALL day and we can't leave the dog out in the CA heat. So, looks like I'll fly home Sun afternoon, pick up the dog Monday, WFH in CA until Thursday and then fly back to Texas Thurs evening.

My parents will be going back to TX after the trip to hang with my sister's fam, so they'll stay until I'm back in TX to help me move in. It's going to be a whirlwind of a time! I'm hoping that the leasing office will allow my dad to grab the keys on 9/9 to start receiving furniture.

Time is flying!

Quick check-in to report that I paid off another credit card last month. It's one of the really terrible ones with a monthly fee, so I'll be happy to cancel it, which I will do this weekend. Next month I'm paying off my Discover card but not canceling that one. I've had it for so long and I don't want to ding my credit age on my credit report. Every month I'm gaining the money that I'd be spending on minimum payments and it's a nice little amount to add to the snowball. Cheers everyone!

congrats! talk to the leasing office and ask if you can authorize your dad to do the key pick-up (my oldest's place has an authorization on file to let me do things-just a simple signed paper we put together prior to move-in). also make sure you've got renter's insurance that covers everything you need during the move period (old place through whatever date you are legally obligated/new place from date you are obligated/personal property during the time it will be transported).

I will be interested to see what you think of the Texas vs. California heat. knew people from Texas that swore California's dry heat was much worse but then some moved TO California and after a year or two found visiting family back home in Texas intolerable b/c they were dry heat converts :rotfl:

I'm moving from my parents house so no insurance needed. It was supposed to be temporary in early March 2020 - Looking back now I laugh - we had know idea how the world would changing a couple of weeks. I am also bringing practically just the clothes on my back as we got rid of my cheap ikea couch when I moved back home.

I was there in June helping my sister out and honestly, yeah it was humid but the time right after a storm was perfect. It also reminds me of FL so it feels like vacay weather haha

Even though I don't have that many actual Christmas gifts I buy any more, I did officially start my Christmas shopping this afternoon. I went to Target for a few essentials and I found a Jurassic Park magnet tile toy on clearance for 50% off, so I snagged it for my older nephew.

To anyone who needs to buy toys for little ones, i'd suggest checking out Target. They have a lot of toy clearance going on right now.

Middle kiddo just mentioned two things she was asking Santa for, both things she mentioned wanting for her birthday (we couldn't find one) so I'm going to start looking for them ASAP and buy when I see them. I always start my shopping in August anyway, so this is right on plan.

Send me details! I am NOT handy and I feel like in this ragtag house every single window is a different size. But I'm willing to try if it will save us a bunch of money. I think we have like 22 windows, not counting the sunroom. Which I leave to the yellow jackets this time of year since all the metal window frames in there are bent in ways I cannot fix without replacing.
Watch YouTube tutorials! I watched several and bought the double-sided screen tool roller since I didn’t know the size of the gap. It really is easy, though. Take your time and have a sharp razor blade for trimming.

Posts like this are why I think for most people the snowball is the better way to go. People get so excited about winning and they "see the money" being able to go into the next payment.

In the UK we have a "savings" vehicle called Premium Bonds - basically you loan money to the goverment and rather than receive interest on this the total interest is gathered together and then there is a monthly prize draw with a few people winning £1,000,000 and then numerous other smaller prizes. Some people never win, others win frequently.

When I was diagnosed with breast cancer I received a payout on a critical illness policy (pays out a lump sum on being diagnosed with one of a number of serious illnesses). We used some of this to buy Premium Bonds - one of the main attractions is that the money is instantly accessible should you need it - as we didn't want to lock it up but wanted to put it slightly out of sight to avoid it being chipped away without noticing. The prize money each month is paid in to a depost account that earns interest.

I have been using mine to cover various trips and other joint travel costs.

Yesterday I discovered how much DH has won - and he hasn't spent any of his. I now know where the money to pay the balance of our trip to Whistler next March is coming from! I was about to start sliding money away into a mental pot to cover it but now I don't need to bother. Hooray.

This was during a call with our financial advisor, who once again told us to retire! But all the time DH's clients are complete chaos he will keep taking their cash.

Though I may make him call time if I have to listen to many more conference calls like some of the mad ones there have been over the last two weeks. So much jargon, no actual actions. No wonder the project is running 200% over target time!
