Has anyone ever stayed in the Disney area and also taken in some races at Daytona?
Any tips or advice for us re transportation/parking etc? Half our group will be taking in some races while the other half take on Disney/Universal. We are renting at Windsor Palms.
Any info or experiences are appreciated.

Hi,

We took in the 2009 Daytona 500 during our Disney World vacation.

After all the reviews of terrible traffic, we got up super early and were on the road 630am and had no troubles with traffic. We got there is 1hr and 15min.

We parked across the street from the track at a restaurant for $20, had breakfast and went to the track for around 9am. We had bought pit passes and hung out in there for about 3 hours, then bought some Tony Stewart gear and found our way to our seats. There is a ton of stuff to see and do, but we were pretty tired after getting up so early.

The race was rain delayed and then was called early due to being so late, we got on the road and made it back to Disney World about 2 hours after getting to the car. I should mention that where ever you park, make sure it's easy to get out and that they box you it.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

Thanks for the info. OUr boys are going back and forth to the track from Thursday to Sunday next year. Do you remember the name of the restaurant you parked at? I see there are quite a few surrounding the track.

Sorry, I really don't remember, there are plenty of places using their parking lots as pay lots for the weekend.

I do remember that we made sure we parked on the side of the street where the traffic direction was going back to Orlando.

I bet. I heard parking for the day is $40 or $50 now.
Thanks again.
