Days to merge reservations?

Just tried to use the chat feature to have 2 reservations merged together and was told they now need to fill out a form, it would take 16-24 hours, if I wanted it done immediately I had to call. So I decided to call to have it taken care of now, need to set up a waitlist. MS when I called said the same thing about having to fill out a form, only they told me it would be 5-7 business day. 5-7 business days?! To have a reservation merged? Anyone else experienced this recently? It used to be done in a couple hours at most? Is the system really that much of a mess right now?

Last time I had to merge reservations which was a few years ago, they had to fill in a form and was told that it would probably take 24-48 hours. Looked in a few hours and it was done already.

I used chat to merge reservations around the middle of August and they also said that they needed to fill out a form but it would only take 24 hours to update. I had the chat transcript emailed to me and I saved it.

The change actually went through almost immediately. The time stamp for the confirmation email is identical to the time that the chat ended.

It has always been done within 24 hours whenever I called or used Chat. They have always said they had to put in the request so I don’t think that is new.

The only time it took longer was when I emailed and expected that.

Not really surprised by the chat CM telling me it could take a day, more surprised by the phone CM telling me 5+ days. Maybe just a new hire who thinks it takes longer than it does?

Is this thread referring to merging a split stay so it's recognized as one continuous reservation? Sorry but just trying to follow along as I have a split stay booked in March.

No. Not split stays, which are consecutive reservations at different resorts. Merging refers to combining separate consecutive reservations for the same resort & room and same guests. The reservations may have been made by piecing together separate nights over a period of time.

Just a heads up, I merged 2 reservations and now MDE isn't showing my arrival date or the last night of my trip. I called IT and she said log out and sign back in. They are still missing. It shows on their end that I Arrive NOV 18th but MDE shows Nov 19. I will have to call in to make reservations if this doesn't clear up by Monday when my 60 day window opens. Can't wait for Genie+ to work perfectly lol

No. Not split stays, which are consecutive reservations at different resorts. Merging refers to combining separate consecutive reservations for the same resort & room and same guests. The reservations may have been made by piecing together separate nights over a period of time.

In August MS merged multiple nights into one reservation for a March trip in like 5 minutes with no form. I guess maybe I just got lucky.

Did you do online check in to see if it updates? It was showing the wrong resort after I modified but corrected when I did online check in.

I requested two reservations to be merged several days ago; it took at least 2-3 days to complete. Then, MDE showed the wrong dates, but once I did online check-in the dates corrected in MDE.

Crazy, I’ve never had it take more than a couple hours.

Yes but it still shows the 19th. When they merged the 2 days they used the same confirmation number as the later date Nov 19th. Not sure if that is normal or if they are supposed to create a new confirmation number?

I called about a week ago and they were able to merge it in about 15 minutes.

The MDE actually wasn’t showing the correct dates for the two reservations prior to the merge. I had changed the reservation from one day beforehand at a different resort to a day at the end at the same resort. After the merge, they also went and fixed the MDE issue.

My merged reservations have always kept one of the same confirmation numbers. But I never paid attention to which one it was.

Was hoping the online check in would do it.

I emailed Wednesday afternoon to merge mine and heard back this morning that it may take a few days. I got a new confirmation email noting one continuing reservation around the 48 hour mark from first reaching out.

If it makes you feel better I did call, was actually told it was going to take longer by the phone CM, he told me I believe at least 3 days and as many as 8, but it would get done before my trip lol.
