My first attempt at writing a trip report.....be patient with me.

Who: Diane (me) somewhere between 30 and 40
Mom if I wrote her age down, I wouldn't see tomorrow!
Dad 66 (gives you a clue on mom's age)
Where: Animal Kingdom Lodge
When: November 28 - December 8
Why: It's Christmas time!

Day One/Travel My flight wasn't until 10:35am, so I got to sleep until 8:00am. My roommate was driving me to the airport to save the parking costs. His parents are in town, so I was glad to be leaving!

Had all the packing done the night before, so I was ready to leave the house at 8:30am. Got to the airport about 9:30am and had no wait in line to check in or through security.

Flight was full, mostly with United employees flying free. Now, don't get me wrong - I think United employees should get the perk of flying free, as well as flying first class when space is available...however...do you have to put babies up front? I admit - I'm a spoiled traveler, I like my peace and quiet when I'm in first class - not the kid kicking the back of my seat. One parent asked me to put my headrest down so her child (the one kicking me) could see the tv screen and movie. (the movie was 'Signs' with Mel Gibson, just what a child should be watching!) I'm a tall person and the head rest in the down position results in my shoulders being hunched forward....she didn't think this should be a problem! And she works for the airline I'm helping keep in business with my 120 flights a year! I couldn't believe it and she was upset with me when I said 'no'.

Meal was choice of Cobb Salad (very good) or Reuben (looked ok) and flight was choppy when we went through the jet stream. We made it to Florida about 20 minutes early. Tiffany Town Car was waiting for me and my bag was the 5th one out.....I can't believe I still didn't feel like I was on vacation yet. When will that magic strike?

It struck as we were entering WDW property and I went under the welcome sign with Goofy and Mickey.

Got to AKL and check-in was a breeze. Got a great CM Erica. All my requests were met (unobstructed view, zebra trail, arusha savannah, 4th floor). Erica was fabulous and told me that if the room wasn't good to let her know. Got to the room and the room was great, there are 2 feeding buckets for giraffe's right outside the window as well as near the pond. (I'd give out the room number but I don't want anyone knocking on the door while we are still here!)

Unpacked and sat on the balcony watching the animals for a bit. Called Priority Seating and cancelled my Boma reservations - I was too pooped to go out for dinner.

Went to Mara and got a chicken sandwich and pop (soda) in my mug from my last trip here. Went back to room and fell asleep watching tv.

Tomorrow: YIKES....where did all the people come from???

I cant imagine having the feeding buckets so close! I hope you get some great pictures of them eating. :)

Great report so far. I hope I get lucky enough to have your room. I check in on the 8th. Enjoy!!:D

there is a special place in heaven for people who are kind to fussy/crying babies, wherever they may be! ;)

Wasn't this trip report already posted a week or so ago or am I losing my mind?

I thought I read this and enjoyed the report. Am I losing it????

Hi

Being a parent myself I have to say why do adults forget that they were babies themselves. Now don't get me wrong children should be controlled. I strongly believe that if the parents want thier children in first class so be it. We just have to put up with it I am afraid.

I get frustrated when people lose thier patience with babies and children, because they seem to forget that they were once a child.

With regards to head rests I would not mention anything to person in front, you snooze you lose. That is my motto and I stick to it.

Please try to understand that children have the right to fly first class if the adults can afford it. There is much more room in first class and sometimes children need it.

Michelle,

I agree with you - if the parent wants to purchase a first class ticket for their child, they can do what they want. In my instance it was United employees flying their family for free that was causing the stress in my flight.

I find that most children that are in first class are very well behaved - you don't even know they are there, this was one instance where I could tell they were there and after the long week I had prior to the trip, I didn't need it.

The frustrating part was that the parent works for the airline, and didn't care that her child was bothering the paying passengers. You know, the ones that are trying to keep United in business :)

I fly over 100 flights a year for work, and I will admit that I'm a spoiled traveler, who likes peace, quiet and to be left alone during flights.

Diane
