Day 9. Saturday
MGM

Get up, as tied of fighting Keiran for my four inches of the bed! Wake everyone else up – they deserve it! Plan today is to do ‘bits’ in the morning then hit MGM in the afternoon.
Take everyone over to the pool – because Keiran really needs to be tied out (or I need him to be tied out). After a splash around, bombs to make the biggest splash – wish DW wouldn’t do that! We head back to villa to change and get ready to SHOP! I put on my ‘Girlie’ white stocking and am ready to face my public. All that sitting round the pool watching the children and DW act the goat, DM and DF are tied (Keiran’s still full of energy). So the oldies decide to stay in the villa DF to have a nap and DM to sit round the pool getting a tan (or DF just put his foot down and said no more shopping!). So us young one’s pile into the truck and head for, yes– The Flea Market.

We need to get some presents for back home and some ‘top-up’ gifts for DS forthcoming birthday. Also took the bad melon back to Wal-Mart. The nice man at Wal-Mart shows me how to pick a good one – you tap them and they give off some special sound – beats me, I picked up another dry one!!

Return to villa to find the oldies awake and enjoying the quietness of a house without kids – soon sort that out.

Right all into the truck with usual masses of equipment and head off to MGM via some where new to eat. Try one of the ‘Subways’ place on the 192 which is good for a cold snack on the move. DM has ice cream for lunch – there’s no controlling her, she just looks up at you (she looks up at everyone, including Yorkshire Terriers) and say’s “I’m on holiday”

OK, off to the park. I’m looking forward to the ‘ Rock and Roll’ roller coaster, which is supposed to be the fastest in town.

How this is the first time with any Disney park were we’ve needed the special assistance pass for Keiran (didn’t need them in the water parks or animal Kingdom), so after entering park I head for the Customer Services building. I show the assistant the letter from our doctor and Keiran’s disabled pass and ask for the SAP, am told that they don’t do these anymore and that if we have any need for assistance we should ask the ride controllers. I try to explain all about Keiran’s condition, about him not being able to queue, etc, etc but get no where. Disney you messed up here and your attitude stinks, the other non Disney Parks have got it right (see my day one report). I have been told since this trip that this was a blip and that Disney have returned to the old good ways. I’m sure that it was due to people (very likely non-disabled people) abusing the system, but when you’ve got documentary proof of a condition let’s be sensible eh, Disney!

Anyway once inside everyone gets an ice cream (well DM hasn’t had any for an hour and is having withdrawals!) Me, DD and DS are up for the Rock and Roll ride and get into the que. DS is very quiet and just before it’s our turn to get on he chickens out – ha, ha, ha – big girls blouse. But me and DD jump in, I was a bit disappointed, can’t put my finger on why – maybe had to many expectations, don’t know. It was good, just not as good as I expected.
Went next to the Tower of Terror – done this before so know what to expect, but still great fun. DM joined us on this (along with DS and DD), loved it.
Went over to the ‘Star Tours’ which is good fun, did a buggy swap here as everyone wanted a go. DM and DF do the ‘3D Muppets’ show – we’ve seen it 3 or 4 times before, so walked around taking some Kodak moments.

We tried to see the Indian Jones show but yet again it was closed – It was the stage for a cheer leaders competition – now that I’d have liked to have seen (assuming DFW would have let me), but it had finished – rats.

Last time we were here the ‘Fantasia’ show (think that’s what it’s called) wasn’t opened so we didn’t see. With all the reports we’d seen since we felt it was a must see. It does start filling up early and lots of people head over to it, but we found seats that had access for the buggy and were all able to sit together. When it started we had the old problem – the high volume of the P.A. system was just too much for Keiran, so I hobbled off (still got my ‘Girlie’ white stocking on – but it’s not going to last) and try to buy something that will take his mind off the loud noise. Got one of those fibre optic torch things and a ‘Limited’ edition Mickey Mouse soft toy. Hobble back to the show and try with the new $45.00 distraction toys to get Keiran to settle down – he’s not interested. So I take him out of the show and away from the loud noise. I’ve had a good go at the trill rides when DW watched Keiran and the show is more DW thing anyway.

When the shows over 3 million people pour out the stadium down the ramp that me and Keiran are on waiting for the rest of the family – no idea now I’ll spot them in this, especially DM and DS who are both just above knee height! Some how we all meet up and head out the park.

On the way home we call into ‘Denny’s’ (another first for us) which was a little different from many of the other chains in their menu’s and it was good. Big portions if I remember rightly.

Tomorrow – Animal Kingdom, 2nd attempt.

Your DM is my kind of gal! You need the extra calcium that ice cream has when you reach a certain age.
Another great report.
Thanks for posting.

I have enjoyed your reports. I also enjoy my ice cream!!! What park was your favorite? Here are some tips on picking a watermelon -

1. first look at shape. It should be symetrical plump oval, not a skinny one.
2. Look for a yellow waxy bottom and dark green top. Means it was sitting in the sun and not picked to early.
3. Knock with knuckles and should produce a "hollow" thump. Hope this helps with future watermelons!!!!

Suevee,

I would have to say that I have two fav. parks - IOA and Busch Gardens.

Thanks for the water melon tips I'll put them to the test next time:D
