Cast: Me - DH 25 & Her - DW 24
Date: Spring Break (March 17 - 24)
We decided that morning we would dedicate to Magic Kingdom, since we had only briefly visited earlier in the week. We breezed through security, marveled at the giant landscaped "100 years" arrangement and headed off for Big Thunder Mountain.
With lines almost non-existant (we still marvel at this, since we were there during Spring Break "peak time") we quickly boarded BTM and got seats in the front of the train. DW and I are quite a different pair when it comes to size (she's petite and 5'4", I'm 6'2" and 175lbs) so she kept floating throughout the ride. She said during one of the turns she thought she was going to fly out
I've never laughed so hard. Next we bopped over to Splash Mountain (having FastPassed beforehand) and enjoyed the Briar Patch. This time, as compared to last time's drier experience, we walked away quite wet. Fortunately it was a sunny day and we were dry in no time - ready to experience the hauntings at Haunted Mansion.
About mid-way through the stretching room, I turned to DW and said "I'm going to be sick, will it stretch too?" - so she went and stood on the other side of the room. After counting ghost, seeing ghosts and even letting one ride in the doom buggy with us, we headed off to some less scary (or so we thought) fun at "It's a Small World". Now, don't get me wrong - it's a Walt original and we love it dearly, but after about 5 minutes I began to have some serious misgivings about the sanity of the designers. Strange multicolored elephants with diamonds painted onto their trunks floating about me singing "It's a Small World" in a foreign language kind of started to freak me out. I must not have been the only one, because a small child a few boats ahead was crying
Again, don't get me wrong, I love the ride - I just started to see some surealism (perhaps a bit of "Breakfast of Champions" sneaking in?) intricately woven in this ride.
So where did we go for a reality check?
That's right - FutureWorld where we encountered Aliens, became Space Rangers and paged "Tom Morrow" from our space car in the Transit Authority. While we were at Space Rangers, I got scolded for "hogging the control and always swerving away just to make DW miss"
She's adorable - I'd never enjoy Disney the same way without her!
After all that fun, we headed back to Cindy's castle (seeing the clouds start to roll in gave us more incentive to head towards the entrance/exit) and were lucky enough to catch "Cinderella's Magical Surprise Celebration" in which the children were entranced to partake in a gift opening by all the Disney characters. It was very fun!
We headed over to Contemporary for lunch, but were far more disappointed this time than last (last time's lunch was magical - just goes to show that nothing lives up to certain magical moments that can never be replicated). We went shopping and enjoyed the fireworks from CBR once again, another wonderful day.
It should be mentioned that we made friends (probably by the second night) with two wonderful ducks (aptly name "Brown Duck and Green Duck") who liked to share our ice cream as we sat on the beach watching the fireworks. One morning, DW woke up to find them just below our room - having "followed" us into the courtyard.
Day Five Soon...
