My deed was recorded on April 12th... I was hoping that I would receive my letter with my activation code before the 3 week mark (day 21). Since my mailbox did not contain any DVC goodness today, I will be calling MA tomorrow. I am in CA.

And yes, I am aware that I could have called a week ago or more. I am just not in any super rush like most are and have been doing a pretty good job of keeping myself busy/distracted during the past few weeks.

I've been reading about how the MA team is small-- Does anyone have any advice for when MA is less busy so I'm not auto transferred to MS?

My deed was recorded the 11th & I received my packet yesterday.

I'd give it another day or two.

Ours recorded on April 5th and we just received our letter this past Friday. (April 28th). We are in California too!

I called last week and got my info, but we did get the formal letter yesterday (deed recorded on 4/14).

When I bought my first resale contract a few years ago the 'activation code' never did show up in the mail & you had to call to get things set up anyway - has that changed and have people been getting 'activation codes' in the mail?
I know you get member and contract numbers in the mail, not sure on activation code.

You still have to call MS to get the activation code

There is a little lag time from deed recording to when you receive your info from DVC. If i recall correctly my contract closed on the 23 or 24th of Nov and I had my letter around the 15th of December, so hopefully you will have it any day now. I guess you could call, but I'm not sure they can do much if you don't have a contract/member #

You can find you contract # on the deed, I believe, which you can find on the OC comptroller site. That, plus my name and some other PII, was enough to get me a membership #, and a new contract # and club ID, and an activation code. (after being on hold for a while, and bouncing around between MS and MA.)

Well, I finally caved this morning and called member administration. I'm now at Day 23 from deed recording so for SURE I should be able to get my membership number, right?

Wrong.

Per Daphne who I spoke with in MA, Disney never received the paperwork from the title company. That means I'm actually back to day 1. A quick call to The Timeshare Store to see what happened, and First American Title verified that they sent the docs on 4/11 (via email, to my surprise). They have since resubmitted it and I hope it will be expedited.

Here I am, waiting patiently, only to be penalized in the end and forced to wait what is now 5 weeks after deed recording to get my info. If one is to blame, my money is on Disney for not processing the email from FA Title. In all fairness, my seller was selling two contracts at once. I'll take a guess that Disney saw 2 emails and disregarded mine as a duplicate.

The reason I was being patient is because I knew I was on track of getting the resale done and dusted by mid May, and then gave myself an estimated 2 week time frame for purchasing my add on. Lesson learned. Early bird gets the worm.

I would think someone in MA would expedite this for you. You should not have to wait the full 2-week(ish) turnaround to get your #s. That is not to say they will see it that way, but one can hope. That is a bummer.

I find it sad that the company that we are doing business with can take such a negative stance against resale buyers. Owners and their families are still spending hundreds of thousands of dollars with Disney. Not nice Disney.

Which may or may not be accurate. It could be they didn't send it or send it correctly. For DVC to expedite it they'll likely need to think it's their fault and if they never received it, it's not. If they received it and it got buried, different ballgame. I recall and similar post recently where it was under a pile.

The Title Company provided a screenshot of the confirmation that it was sent, including the timestamp from 4/11. Based on this information, it must have been Disney that dropped the ball.

I'll call again Monday and ask to expedite if not done so already.

That's good, On the previous one it was just their word I believe. But that doesn't guarantee it was received. If you can document that, ? tracking number, you may be able to save a considerable amount of time.

Or squeaky wheel gets the grease. Sorry this happened.
My new contract was an add on & I recorded the day before you & already have my Dec. reservation w/ the new points made. In my case I was adding on & could just watch my existing member account on line for the contract to be added - but when it didn't show by day 10 or so I called. My concern was that my son's last name is easily misspelled and DVC might create a new membership rather than adding to our existing membership and if that happened I wanted to get it fixed ASAP.
Probably the best take away is if your timeline is longer than everyone else's best to call as there's probably a glitch.
Is there anything stopping you from initiating your direct add on now to save a little time?

Agree with others - provide the tracking info to MA (may need to ask for a supervisor) and they should expedite for you. We had a situation just like yours; about 3 weeks after recording, we called MA and they said there was no record of our file. After a few more attempts the next couple of days, MA said that the package had just arrived and it would take 3-4 weeks to get our number. We contacted Title, who forwarded the tracking info to us. When we called MA again and provided the tracking info to them, the rep went to look for the file, and came back and said that she found our file (she said it was mailed to the wrong department) and had placed it on top of the stack. We got our number and access the next day. Best of luck to you!

Just thought I'd give a little update on my saga. I called MA again today (which, btw is always answered by MS... but I just ask to be transferred to MA and they pick up right away).

I was told by MA that the Title Company sent the wrong documents. I gave them the information provided by First American from April 11th confirming that it was sent-- they looked it up and found that it was the wrong name (again, because the seller had multiple contracts at once).

I asked if, given my situation, it could be expedited, and the woman I spoke with put me on hold to go talk to the processing department. When she returned she said that they will try to complete it by the end of the week, but gave no guarantees. She said to check back on Friday or Monday.

Will update if and when this all ends.

Just got an email back from First American Title who has now provided me with the actual documents sent to Disney in April... so they're saying Disney made the mistake somewhere.

At this point, I just want the issue resolved. I'm 4 weeks past deed closing! I've been patient long enough.
