DavIfer 10.6.12* at home Disney Magical wedding

Our wedding is from 11:30 - 5. :rotfl: I guess I don't see why this is so awful? :confused3 People are going to come to the wedding no matter what time it's at. We get married, have some lunch, have some cake, do a little dancing, and then take a nap before dinner. :thumbsup2

I don't think it's awful. I just think that the wedding has a slightly different atmosphere or feel to it in the afternoon, and if that's not what you're going for... :confused3 Your plan sounds perfect for you though, and that's what matters:thumbsup2

All of my friends are young, many college students... so most of them sleep til noon and then want to stay out until the later hours :rotfl:

At Disney it's $30/person cheaper to have a lunch reception. The almighty dollar always wins! If all things were equal I would probably have an evening wedding. But I still don't understand why afternoon weddings are considered "ugly." I hope none of my guests think that. :guilty:

Mindy, you're getting married in DISNEY. hehe. If I was getting married there I wouldn't care about times either! :goodvibes :thumbsup2

But so far, we're going to try and check out the churches. My church would charge us $700 and then we'd just have to pay for flowers, etc.
I haven't gotten ahold of his church yet. And I'm actually starting to research :surfweb: cute little churches down in Sea Bright. It's a beach town. So they have those cute little churches. So we'll see. Stay tuned! lol.

I'm going to email my planner tonight and see what she says about us possibly cancelling our ceremony at the venue and whether or not we will be reimbursed that moneyy.. UGH!

I don't think they are! I'm sure everyone will love it. I think it's a little different too, with your wedding being in Disneyland. And I totally understand about the cost, we were considering a Sunday wedding until we found a place that was totally reasonable for a Saturday, which is preferable since a lot of our guests are traveling. Silly money, if only we didn't have to worry about it! :headache:

We were considering a Sunday wedding also, for May. But then we saw the dates for October and their prices and the Saturday price was super reasonable, so how could we say no? I mean, even though now I'm totally regretting that I booked the place a bit? Even though the view is gorgeous and so is the venue. It's the whole ceremony bull. :confused3

So we're going to try and stick with our cocktail hour starting at 7pm. I emailed the consultant at the venue and I'm waiting for her to respond.. :surfweb:. If I don't hear from her by Monday I will definitely call her. I asked her about paying a little extra for another hour or so.. so we'll see.

I also found another location on the beach, 7 minutes away from our venue, that will allow you to do the ceremony. I'm waiting to hear back about pricing. PLUS, it's a hotel. So I can get my room blocks there too! :lovestruc And then do the shuttle from there to the venue! Perfecto Huh? We'll see. Keep your fingers crossed.

I also found 2 Methodist churches located down by the venue that I'm going to call and look into. :goodvibes

Keep your fingers crossed!
Because I feel like $700 for a church ceremony is a smidgen bit craZy?? :scared1:

HEY GIRL HEY!!! :)

SO...... in regards to the church ceremonies/ beach ceremonies.... if you chose to have a ceremony outside of your venue, would you lose the $1000 you already put down? Or will they refund your money if you don't have the ceremony there?

Something about that venue still just doesn't sit right with me... :confused3 I can't understand why they would suggest a date to customers knowing there is already another event taking place that day? Wouldn't it make more sense to just offer another day? I know I would be discouraged to book somewhere knowing that someone else was having an event the same day- especially with such a close time gap. :scared1:

I definitely don't want you to lose your deposit, or have to worry about changing your date or anything- but I think she needs to work with you more, and give you first dibs on the date since you booked first... and way in advance!!!

I don't think she realizes that even though something is scheduled for a specific time- things can definitely not go as planned and run late- and in that case it would not be good!!

I would agree that $700 is expensive for a church! Although it is $300 less then they wanted to charge me down here!! :lmao:

I just like the idea of having more freedom over my ceremony and including things that would not necessarily be discouraged in a church- but I would want it done my way- without having someone else tell me that they don't agree with my choices, or that I can't do that.

My ceremony is going to be at 4, so give or take 30-45 minutes, and we will be able to take pictures at least for a good hour or so before we lose the sunlight, and get some good sunset pictures too!

Then our cocktail hour is from 5-6, dinner from 6:30-7:30, and dancing and reception until 10.

More than likely we will be calling it an early night since we will have to be getting up very early to make the drive down to Orlando the next day! :woohoo:

Ohhhh HAAAAYYYYY! :lovestruc

Yeah I definitely hear you about all of the above.. lol.
I emailed her to find out about my $1000 to see as to whether or not I would be able to be refunded that amount, or use it towards other things, if we choose to not have the ceremony there. I also asked her if we would be able to 'purchase' extra time? I'm thinking 4:30 would be perfecto. ha. That way nobody else can have my day.. :rolleyes1 SO we'll see what she says.

I wish I could just back out of the venue and try to find somewhere else.. I gotta reread my contract and double check some stuff. Then also, see if any other venues have my date available for pricing that is comparable. So we'll see.

I think I found 2 places in which I can have my beach ceremony... one in which is a hotel and I can probably block off rooms there too! Talk about killing 2 birds with one stone. :thumbsup2 And it's 7 minutes away!
The other is a pier in the town next door to where my reception would be. I'm waiting for people to respond to my emails.

I'm giving everyone until Monday, if I don't hear from them.. their phones will be ringing! haha.

We haven't booked our honeymoon yet.. but we're planning on leaving later the next night or Monday morning.. so we'll see! I kinda wanna have a little brunch the morning after too, especially if we stay in the hotel that I'm eyeing up.. :rolleyes1 Sooo pretty! haha.

 Thanks for being there! My sister from another mister!

$700 does seem a bit much, though I looked into two churches - the first one was about $1,000, though that was including the officiant fee and the organist, still seemed like a lot. The one where I'm getting married is free for us because we're members, but we have to pay the officiant fee, and a custodian fee, and a few other small things, plus if we wanted to use their organist we would have to pay for that too. Their fee for non-members is $400 plus all that stuff. So depending on the religion, you may see a higher fee for churches that you're not a member of. So I am surprised that your church is charging you $700, especially since it's your church! They usually give a pretty good discount for that! :confused3

Yeah, I agree $700 seems like a lot, I thought it was supposed to be free or "suggested donation." But I haven't stepped foot in a church in a while, :littleangel: so what do I know.

My dad is avoiding telling my VERY CATHOLIC Grandmother that I'm not getting married in a church, that I'm getting married at Disneyland instead. :lmao: She will not be pleased. :littleangel::littleangel::littleangel:

ANYWAY, it sounds like you have some good options and I hope you can work it all out. Just from what you've posted I don't have a very good feeling about your original venue. They should be bending over backwards to please you, you know???? Don't they know you're the bride?????? :bride:

I know I was shocked that they were charging me that much too! Especially since I've been attending that church since I was born! Ridiculous! Catholic church has gone down the tubes.. it ridiculous! ha.
But hopefully something else will turn up.. when I get back to my house after my cousins birthday party I found one location that I'm going to try and giv a call to see what they say...

I'm with you Mindy.. I don't have a really good feeling about my original venue either.. I'm going to read over my contract when I get home.. and still waiting to hear back from them. If I don't hear back by Monday I'm going to call and hopefully bridezilla doesn't come out.. :rolleyes1 :bride:.
I'm just scared to change the venue all together because I don't want to loose my date or photographer and dj..

It seems to me that you're still really far out in advance, so I would think it wouldn't be a problem... could you still shop around at other places and inquire about what dates they have open, before you officially backed out of the place you have now?

Yes I can.. I actually just found another place that I really love. I wish I woulda found it first! It's a little bit pricier.. however, it's a hotel so I get my wedding night room for free and discounted rooms, so it would somewhat even out? But I have to see if the date's available.. AND talk to my father.. which I'm scared to do.. :scared1:

So I've been trying not to think about the whole ceremony situation right now until I hear back from a few people.. what did I do to keep myself occupied? Well search online for cheap dresses for my Trash The Dress session I plan on having! :thumbsup2

As I had mentioned earlier I was thinking of getting a ballgown to make my momma happy because she always saw me getting married in a 'princess dress' as she likes to call them. I found a website that makes replica gowns of designers'. I decided I'd set my price limit to $250 and see what I can find.. Here are my favorites so far... =]

This last one is NOT a ballgown.. but I'm so in love with it. I just think it would be so sexy, stunning, GORGEOUS in a TTD session. Especially if we do it in the water.. OMG... I'm drooling just thinking about it..... :cloud9:

My favorites are the last two! :cloud9:  hah. I'm so weird. But they really are gorgeous... I just can't choose! hehe. Either one of them would photograph gorgeous.. I'm also thinking of going to check out the David's Bridal $99 sale sometime this week with one of my bridesmaids to see what they gots too! :rolleyes1

I also found a few more bridesmaids dresses that I'm in LOVE with for my girls.. the first dress I actually found in a magazine when I first got engaged. What's rough though is that they are a smidge expensive (but I found a website I think with them a bit cheaper) and I'd get them in a apple/kiwi green color. Which isn't bad because it IS one of my wedding colors.. but as Dave told me when we first started planning the wedding.. ask yourself.. 'What would David Tutera do?'.. well... if you watch his show.. he always says... NO GREEN! :headache: But he may just have to DEAL WITH IT! :rolleyes1

They just have such a romantic, Grecian feel to them. :lovestruc But we'll see... there's also a Jordan dress I found while roaming the internet :surfweb: that I want to check out too.

We'll see...

LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE, did I say LOVE that last dress for the trash the dress session. It's gorgeous!!!
And those bridesmaid dresses are stunning!!!!! I love them so much!!!

Thanks! I'm in LOVE with it too! :woohoo: What sucks is that I was trying to do the whole ballgown thing.. but I'm in LOOOVE with that dang thing!! :lovestruc It's definitely not a 'wedding dress' but for TTD omg... how GORGEOUS would that be?! I may just have to get that one.. and the one before it.. hah. To satisy myself and my mother. :rolleyes1 I could always save one for the honeymoon? :confused3

The bridesmaids dresses are so friggn dreamy! hehe. I NEED to get them. And all of my maids have seem them and agreeed. So let's hope it works out! I actually just emailed a custom dress maker to see if they could make them in my colors! :dance3: Want one!?

All those dresses are beautiful for a TTD (or for someone's wedding, for that matter!), but I really like the second to last one. And I love love love the last bridesmaid dress that you posted! Sooo elegant and gorgeous!

Thanks girlie! Yeah I have a feeling it's going to be between the 2nd to last.. to the last one. I may just order both and go from there.. :rolleyes1 Don't tell Dave! hah.

Yeah, they soooo gorgeous. I gotta find a store with them so the girls can try them on before ordering them though! :surfweb:

GREAT options for TTD, I agree with you, that last one would be amazing in water. Is that what you are doing for sure? In a pool or the beach? That would be so awesome.

We're not 100% sure yet.. I think the beach pictures are absolutely breathatking with trash the dress! But I also came up with the idea if we could get a dirtbike.. being that DF used to ride and misses it greatly.. going out on a dirt track! With the bike.. and omg.. soo fun!! :yay:
