Actually no it isn't. Letterman doesn't work for CBS so CBS's employee policy doesn't apply to Dave. Dave is employed by WWP and their spokesperson has stated that Dave is not in violation of their employee policies.

You can think he is a sleazy cheater but the 'violating company policy' argument is moot.

I found funny and hypocritical that Palin made such a stink about Dave making fun of her daughter, mostly because after SNL trashed Bristol much worse, she agreed to be a guest on the show!

It is against the policies of some companies, but it isn't against the policies of WWP or CBS. A quick check revelaed that it doesn't appear to be against the policies of my employer, either.

Plus George isn't married with children either.

George has said a lot of stuff that probably bugs you, but it's true that he hasn't publicly made fun of Sarah Palin's daughter. Of course, it's not his job to poke fun at famous people.

I think you're giving Dave a little more credit that he deserves... While Letterman wasn't legally married when he was serially bedding college interns, he was in a "long-term relationship" (since 1986) with the mother of this now six-year old son. So I guess you can call it a "modern day affair" (cheating on the woman you're living with, and having kids with, but not married to).

Also Letterman as a "predator"? Oh please......

While I agree that it may be a stretch to call David Letterman a "predator", at the minimum he's guilty of "skirt chasing" the college interns working on his show over a number of years and no doubt knowing that his star status would probably garner a high rate of success in these endeavors. Perhaps the terms "letch" or "dirty-old-man" would work better.

Also, don't be so quick to pigeon-hole people's dislike for Letterman. As I posted earlier, I used to be a fan... but not so much anymore. I feel that a lot more of his "humor" has gotten too personal for my tastes. The "Palin" episode is just one example. I've also physically been around the guy before, and he just doesn't interest me.

I think I'm on firm ground to say that Dave's "sleazy" factor has gone up with both the viewing and non-viewing public.

No one has predicted a serious defection of viewers as a result of this... in fact, "The Late Revelations & Apologies Show" has been a short-term ratings bonanza for the network... I'm sure they're pleased.

and those were college interns when he started the affairs - we're talking 18-21 year old kids. That is pathetic and bordering on child abuse. At least, it's a misuse of power held over those girls' heads and certainly not fair to the older women who are being looked over for promotion because he slept with the pretty young things.

I seem to recall being 18-21 years old...it wasn't that long ago... and no, I wouldn't consider it "child abuse" for an 18-21 year old adult to be having sex with a man, albeit probably an older man. At the age of 18, I understood about adultery and sexual harrassment as well.

She's 34 now and started the affair in 1996 - it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out she was 21 when he started having sex with her. Wouldn't want my college age daughter involved with a 60 year old geeser. Gross! A report out today says he had a private apartment where he took these interns. Another one is coming out with her story today - it kill me that these celebrities think they are above getting caught.

Would he have been 60 in 1996 or 47?

Also, the accused, Joe, is saying he saw Stephanie and Dave making out near their shared home in August of this year. Maybe this is why he decided to attempt to blackmail Dave. Revenge.

I agree. When I called him a predator, I didn't mean in a criminal sense, just in a "creepy old man looking in the hallways of his workplace for a hot young woman to bed" sense. At least that is how I see him now.

I also don't get the people who say "he did nothing wrong, he was not married." Well clearly even Dave thinks he did wrong, since he is apologizing, is in damage control mode and has even said he has a lot to make up to his wife.

I don't think anyone is saying he didn't do anything wrong. I think most are saying what he did was between him and his wife. He was obviously in a live-in relationship with Regina and he cheated on her. He was wrong. But those defending him just don't feel like he should lose his job or be labeled a child sex offender.

I think it is funny how a few have labeled him as ugly, an old geezer, etc. I truly believe that if he was some hoy guy (George Clooney has been mentioned), the situation would be looked upon so much differently. Because he isn't good looking, he is looked upon as some creepy old man that used his power to make "young girls" sleep with him. Yet, these women seem to bear no responsibility for their actions.

There's multiple statements that have been made that those young women that accepted Letterman's advances were given preferential treatment in work assignments and opportunities to turn their internships into full time positions. None of that is illegal, but the business ethics of it are questionable at best and affect more people that just Letterman, his now-wife, and the young mistresses. The revelations could lead to some civil court action from one or more interns that rejected the boss' affections and were not given similar opportunities to those that did. NOW is already stoking those flames.

It's hardly the first case of an entertainment figure (good looking or not) bedding younger women, and I don't think looks are what's bothering people... it's the workplace angle and the "multiple" staffers issue.

Well, in your example a woman wouldn't really need much of a reason to sleep with George Clooney. Dave, on the other hand .....Maybe just being Dave wasn't enough.

My sister has been a travel agent for years. She started working at a new agency about 8 years ago. There is a woman in her area that has been employed there for much longer. My sister makes more money than she does. Their jobs are identical. The boss just loves my sister. He has recruited her to become his own personal travel guide for the company. He will send my sister on trips with some clients to show them the town. These aren't local trips. These are to places like Austria, Mediterranean Cruises, the French Riviera, etc. Not only does she get paid to take free trips around the world, the boss also pays for my sister's husband to go with her. He isn't even employed by the company! My BIL helps the guests out as much as my sister does.

My sister has been shown preferential treatment from pretty much day one at this place. The boss loves her. I am certain that people get their nose out of joint but as the owner of the company, he can do whatever he wants. She has always been known as a perfectionist and does her job very well.

My point is, preferential treatment is given in the workplace all the time. In some cases, the person is sleeping with the boss. In some cases, they aren't. I am willing to bet that Letterman has shown preferential treatment to many other employees without sleeping with them. Why has Tony Menedez worked as his cue card boy for so long? Why hasn't he moved up to a better position? I am sure his job perks are part of the reason. I saw an interview with him a few years back that pretty much stated this. If Dave likes you, you are treated very well. I doubt Dave is sleeping with Tony.
