DAS changes coming WDW May 20/ DL June 18, 2024

I also got on right at 8 on Sunday and waited about 5 hours..but really an easy call.

I agree for THAT site the majority or physical or heat related and when that doesn't work they then remember they have PTSD, ADHD and some depression.

Like as an adult who doesn't????I mean the depression and anxiety???? Or like standing in the heat?

I feel for them, but the rabidness is scary. They go from Disney is violating the ADA call everyone to demand answers t from eh CM even if they don't know to attacking each other for anything positive.

And they really don't understand the RTQ. They are mad because they can't just appear with their whole family and demand a return time. The newest is that every CM is making fun of them when they scan and it turned blue and asking if they are really disabled? Really in the many years I have had, that has NEVER happened. The scan , the ask if we are okay with stairs we move on. Most are to busy in other conversations to worry about it turning blue and what that means.

The stories, exaggerations and out and out lies help no one as we all try and navigate the new rules.

On that note has anyone done the ten minutes after> Is after the second scan? IS 10 exactly or more like ish?
I ran across this on TikTok. Like no way did the CM tell you you don’t look disabled enough or autistic enough or whatever to get a RTQ. The lady I saw was really riling up her followers telling them to call different people, claiming to have gotten communications from the top. It was ugly.

Then the comment section was even wilder. People claiming the most outrageous garbage like CMs making fun of them or mocking them or something. There was a ton of fishing for what works, and blatant scripting, in the comments. There’s so much misinformation and just pure ugliness. I blocked the account.

Just got back from a week at Disney and just my observations:

1. Lightning Lane lines were definitely more efficient. There were some dead days (outside of holidays, I think it's increasingly common that weekends are actually the slowest), but there were a couple of moderately busy days, but we never had to wait more than a group or two to scan in, and the lightning lane lines all seemed to be nearly empty until the merge point. The one exception was Haunted Mansion, but I think there is something about that queue that makes it always the worst.

2. We’ve done July and August before with little to no issue, but it's clear that if people are not entering the trip at 100%, the heat just makes everything worse and I think this will be our last summer trip. Hot take: I think it's actually reasonable to not provide DAS based on heat-related issues because if you have those kind of issues, it's going to be dangerous to just be in the park and it is not a queue related issue. Disney is under no obligation to save you from yourself, so if you decide you can sufficiently brave the park in this heat, then you probably can manage most lines or make use of one the alternative accommodations. I understand it would be nice if Disney went above and beyond, but you are ultimately responsible for yourself. That being said, Disney clearly needs to do more in general to make the parks more hospitable for all guests in hotter temperatures.

3. The ten minute wait to request a new DAS pass was kind of annoying, but I also know why they did it. I just really like setting up my next Fast Pass/Lightning Lane/DAS return time while waiting in line. I also had to set a timer to remind in 10 minutes, and it would often go off mid-ride. LOL. Minor inconvenience, but it's just something that annoyed me.

4. I have mostly avoided it in the past, but found myself checking TikTok because circumstances during the trip sometimes left me with little else to do. There were lots of fun Disney videos to watch, but I also got a fair share of DAS related ones, and I kept seeing the same two women, so I assume they are the most prominent in this area, and boy are they REALLY, REALLY annoying and kind of mean. Like I felt bad because I know they're sincere, but I do not think they reflected their cause very well. I avoid a lot of parts of Disney social media, so I imagine this is common in lots of places and makes me appreciate places like this board even more so.

5. As helpful as DAS is, I'm looking forward to the new Lightning Lane system as I really miss having a solid plan for each day and might be willing to pay for it even if we continue to qualify for DAS. I really do wish we could turn back time to the Fast Pass+ days, because I never even had reason to consider DAS back then. We may have qualified this time, but I still dread that the decision will be different in the future and would be much happier to not even deal with it.

6. I would put this trip near the bottom of the list for my trips to Disney, and yet, it's still true that a mediocre day at Disney is better than a good day at home. :-)

When my kiddo was little because of her symptoms, we are some of the few that has no problem going back to get a return time each time. It helped with a cooling of period from the high of the ride and kept her moving. And I was rarely on my phone.... Now easier but always checking.

I don't have twitter or really any social media except Facebook and instagram. A lot of people have been blocked or paused lately in the Disney world because they just got to too.....

From what I see they are planning to hire a billboard truck to circle in front of Disney, the hotels, and convention during D23. To each their own... if they are just circling....go you.. I hope they are not screaming....Thankful we are in the Disney bubble except for going to the Con and the traffic around there is going be ugly...

Is the ten minutes right at the mark..like a countdown? We are rarely through cue to the ride in ten minutes and if we can do that then usually we will try standby...

Is Rise in Disneyland testing single rider too???

It wasn't mentioned in FreshBaked video; but I sped through it today pretty quickly. The path from New Orleans is completed blocked so need to enter WAY over behind BTMRR. - :(

Awareness is fine. The billboard truck is fine. Blue shirt day next week at Epcot and DLR is fine.

What's not fine is getting up in people's grill and CMs and harassing them. That's not fine. The admins finally showed up today on restoring messaging away from the anxiety driven folk

I would love to get my RSPs done before our cruise tomorrow; but DIsney IT gods have other plans for us. Argh.

I saw a blurb about "blue shirt day" I see there are plans to actually be in the park protests. Not sure how WDW will handle that, probably just rile up folks even more.

If it's a meetup and build awareness and unity that's fine. Disney actually promotes that concept as a whole.

Rebel rousers making trouble will get Disney jail and bye bye just like any other troublesome guests.

Had my DAS meeting this morning for WDW
Waited 5 minutes
Have had DAS in the past, non DD adult

My rep was extremely cold and robotic, not even a warm greeting. She decided within 30 seconds she didn't want to award DAS because I wasn't saying anything with words relating to neurodivergent, and only when I got around to mentioning I suffer also from demyelinating disease did she transfer me to a medical expert. VERY CLEAR THEY WANT THE WORDS NEURODIVERGENT, AUTISM, DD, Sorry, but to the mods who keep pushing it should be needs based and not diagnosis, it was very diagnosis based (at least with my agent). She did not care about my ability to wait in queues, she kept mentioning they are only allowing a very select amount of people that meet a specific list

while we waited 5 minutes, she didn't say even a word to me, very awkward, he came on and was nicer and he took the time to listen to me, but it felt like he was under pressure to agree with her. The biggest reason why I felt she controlled the decision, when he was giving advice for accommodations, he was stating that after I try things like "return to queue" which the way they both described was in reference to AQR where you rejoin the line midway with party, not getting a return time, if I still struggle to work with the cast member at the rides (I know he was trying to hint at return times but was trying to work around wording it like that) then he said I could go to guest services and she overstepped him immediately and shut that down immediately and said you have your accommodations and that they are better than what I have in the past of not being able to leave lineups before (that is a lie because I have been able to leave in the past, plus DAS was clearly better too), her only 2 advices she had if AQR fails is to understand time of day and go to rides when they have low queue times, and I could request a coordinator and build up a history of which rides I tried, which employees, plus wait times and explain to them at that point, and then she just brushed me off pretty fast after that

That was an overall pretty awful experience, zero care from agent, health expert seemed to hint that CMs might be able to do more for me, he mentioned they are "humans after all", but agent was policing the whole convo and gave really only AQR strategy, LLMP was never mentioned as advice. I may try just 1 more time in a few days and see if I get another agent who isn't apparently reading off a script and can actually talk through things, and if still denied at that point, then at least I can feel comfortable that I was given a fair chance.

This trip will definitely be affected, but I guess I'll have to try talking to CMs at each ride and seeing what they can do for me, not ideal and really felt small and unheard, but they have really shifted away to only catering to DD, neurodivergent and autism guest as a whole (there may be some others that got lucky that don't have those conditions, and others that have those conditions and are denied still)

Good luck to everyone when they request DAS for their trips, I will try to follow up after my trip in 4 weeks

Hi Everyone! I've tried to keep up with this thread, but I have fallen a bit behind. Some dear friends just qualified for DAS, so I have a couple quick questions about how DAS works now, since it has been revamped.
1. Can you still book your first ride once you scan into the park? I believe that you no longer book advanced rides, correct?
2. Will the DAS tile still appear in the MDE app once you scan into the park? I assume you still book on the app (rather than in person at each ride), but just wanted to verify.
3. It's my understanding that you must now wait 10 minutes after scanning into a ride, before you can book your next one. Is that correct?

Thank you!

1. You should be able to request your first ride immediately after entering the park. And there are no longer any pre-booked reservations available. One thing I noticed is you have to scan into each park before you can reserve a DAS for that park, so if you are park hopping, you cannot get a DAS pass for the second park until you get there. This may have always been the case, but i didn’t realize it until I attempted.
2. Correct. You pull up the ride you want to ride on the app and there should be a button to select for DAS return time and it includes the return time on that page.
3. Yes, after scanning in to the ride, you have to wait 10 minutes. If you attempt to before then, it will let you go through the first couple steps, but will eventually advise you of the time limit.

Realistically, they were probably never going to approve an adult with IBS/IBD. I really think this (and other washroom issues) was the biggest bulk of users they wanted to weed out. At this point I would let it go and try to enjoy your trip. I remember you were stressed out leading up to your meeting, making your symptoms worse.

I think you said you’ve used LL/Genie+ in the past with DAS. I bet you’ll do fine, especially as your trip is towards the end of August, so most likely lower crowds. Try the AQR if you find it necessary. But try not to worry ahead of time about how it exactly works. Change is hard, especially if you’ve relied on DAS for a number of years. But I think going forward, even without DAS, you can still have a great time. :goodvibes

I replied in the other thread but will reply here too. So I don’t think it’s need based totally, it’s supposed to be needs based within their new criteria (neurodivergent). if I called and said I had needs based on bathroom issues I would most likely be offered the other accommodations, not DAS.

Instead of calling back, I suggest trying the other accommodations first and if they don’t work, then explain in detail why those accommodations didn’t work.

Remy's Ratatouille Adventure has one. I'm not sure exactly where the entrance to it is, but it is to the left of the Lightning Lane.
One of the last times we went, we were standing still in the LL line. We could see a pretty solid of VIP tour guests going in using that line
Yep, I forgot they built a Single Rider that’s gone unused for its original purpose there! I’m trying to picture the queue layout at SDD and drawing a complete blank on that one. I feel like there was once a Single Rider line for TOT, but that might be what was converted to the FP/LL line.

well I'm going to have to find out the hard way, IBD is not an easy disability to deal with and gets agitated even more when stressed out, maybe I get lucky with some CMs and return times might be an option at some long queues, AQR will definitely have to be used otherwise most of the time, LLMP and LLSP will have to be heavily relied upon options (hoping they honor them if I miss them due to episodes), going early, staying late, targeting low queue rides (studying the wait times like a hawk all day), hoping the rumors of this summer been seemingly quieter with crowds is true and most rides are naturally 30 min or less, might have to force myself to visit bathrooms before rides to try and eliminate/prolong the suddenness for an hour or so to be able to safely get on the next ride

Not going to be enjoyable having to cope with condition and trying to squeeze in such much planning and adjusting all day long, but I'll see how it goes and report back in a month

Thank you everyone for the continued support of all the people on here struggling with disabilities and having to navigate this new system and the difficult changes its brought to them

I think a lot of folk who have been out of physical queues for awhile will be pleasantly surprised how much shorter the wait times are.compared to posted.

They have been artificially elevated for quite some time now. When we travel without our son or ride ones that are no go's for him like incredicoaater and gotg (loves.spins and motion, but not zero g stuff!) , the waits are padded at least 10minutes. 20min if end of the evening.

For the 'just in case' folk, they may gave a better experience with the new official accommodations and once folk get used to it an enforced, the queue experience itself improve with less folk pushing forward

Even with DAS, with my Daughter there is a lot of planning and adjusting that has to happen. DAS is a tool ut it doesn't make everything all better. We have found attitude and just being in the moment does wonders.

Have a great trip.

At DLR , you can. Request at the umbrellas for a time across the other park.
Can you still do that at Disneyland with the changes?

Is the ten minutes right at the mark..like a countdown? We are rarely through cue to the ride in ten minutes and if we can do that then usually we will try standby...

Is Rise in Disneyland testing single rider too???

I used the 10 minutes cool down on 7/4 at DL/DCA. We would scan in and then I would ask Siri to set a 10 minute timer on my watch. I swear it went off during the ride just about every single time. I think by old habit I tried to do one right away and got an error about waiting 10 minutes or not yet being eligible for the next one.

I have not seen anything about Rise testing single rider at Disneyland. I will be there Wed-Fri this week for a staycation so I will look then. I do feel like based on reports I have seen that a lot is missed without the message from Rey, preshow ship and the stormtrooper room.

I sooooo agree. I love that beginning. It is one of the high points of the ride, so I doubt I would ever try use that, if I was ever alone that is.
