DAS changes coming WDW May 20/ DL June 18, 2024

I'm not banned.

Give my honest opinion and help where I believe it can be had and plenty of stones at me.

People can be angry and engaged. Be productive out of it. Aiming the vile at each other where a lot had been happening just misses the target
Good luck! That was not my experience and I promise I was not rude to anyone, attempted to come up with alternative solutions and gave my opinions just like on here. But I do know I made someone upset who specifically went to an admin and complained and I was then banned. Still no idea why! But sounds like it not a very good group to be in anyway so for the best.

Yes, everything on that site is black or white, and there are no cognitive thinking abilities in the gray areas.

Welcome to a slice of the ASD world. The kiddos are the easy ones; adult ASD is a lot harder to navigate and advocate for themselves and as a group as a whole.
Most of the people that were angry were not ASD, it was the mobility or physical disabilities who are now mostly being denied (of course some are still being approved). Of course they could be different now that the new rules have been going for a few months now.

HA! OK, that was a great transition. :)

I hope it was clear my comment wasn't implying ASD issues but rather the reactions on the FB group, whose primary response to a denial is to call the national media.

I also got on right at 8 on Sunday and waited about 5 hours..but really an easy call.

I agree for THAT site the majority or physical or heat related and when that doesn't work they then remember they have PTSD, ADHD and some depression.

Like as an adult who doesn't????I mean the depression and anxiety???? Or like standing in the heat?

I feel for them, but the rabidness is scary. They go from Disney is violating the ADA call everyone to demand answers t from eh CM even if they don't know to attacking each other for anything positive.

And they really don't understand the RTQ. They are mad because they can't just appear with their whole family and demand a return time. The newest is that every CM is making fun of them when they scan and it turned blue and asking if they are really disabled? Really in the many years I have had, that has NEVER happened. The scan , the ask if we are okay with stairs we move on. Most are to busy in other conversations to worry about it turning blue and what that means.

The stories, exaggerations and out and out lies help no one as we all try and navigate the new rules.

On that note has anyone done the ten minutes after> Is after the second scan? IS 10 exactly or more like ish?

Parsing out the anger to any minority group denied is difficult.

No different in the disabled community.

You weather the anger and try to do good for those that ask for help and show the way forward for those that want to advocate in a productive manner.

Finding and helping those nuggets one at a time if need be.

Now THAT is wild. I've never heard a single report of that, ever. Then suddenly the rules change and now people are singing a different tune? Ick

Oh they are still there for sure.

There are also a lot crossover disabilities that fall under the grey zone like ADHD, and generalized anxiety disorder and panic attacks which can cause disruptions.

Some folk point out we all have anxiety and mood changes....of course. Inside out exists for all of us.

If you've experienced a person in your orbit with GAD and a panic attack, it hits differently and the reset doesn't come easily either.

A fair amount of posts are from these posters too that are just amped up....real life inside out 2 in full action.

Oh I totally get it, I have major anxiety and panic attacks too and some things I just can’t do at Disney. To me, it just seems like sometimes people are expecting Disney to give them everything whereas they wouldn’t expect that from any other business.

For example, I don’t like crowded stores so I wouldn’t be one to go Black Friday shopping early in the morning with the crowds (when that used to be a thing). I wouldn’t expect the store to accommodate me and give me a separate line away from everyone else, be able to go in the store before them, and not wait in line to check out. Now I could find somewhere to wait inside (or outside) the store until my party was ready and meet them at the checkout as a possible solution. I know it’s not the same as Disney, but just throwing an example out there. And maybe I’m wrong, maybe stores do accommodate like that.

I should have added on to that last one that instead, I shop online during those busy times, or send someone in my place. Or I might go in the afternoon when it’s not crowded. Same with Disney, I usually plan my trips for when it’s not supposed to be as crowded, but never during peak crowds. I also have to assist myself in making sure my trip will be enjoyable and I won’t have as many panic attacks.

Well, that experience was much different than the first. I was only on the phone for 2 hours.

And we were approved

So it appears (??) that you were initially denied DAS on July 2, 2024 (comment: #8,541):

====
"Very disappointed with the new system. We don't usually wait in lines with more than 2-3 people ahead of us. ...They said she didn't need the DAS"
====

But you called back today (July 15, 2024) and were approved?

A little diversion: have you seen that Rise has been running a Single Rider line the last few days? Makes me wonder if there’s a plan to add more Single Rider options to the rides that historically get extra long lines to accommodate solo visitors instead of AQR, since they have no party to wait in SB and meet at the merge. It skips a big chunk of the story, though, so it would be a disappointment for first-time riders. What’s interesting to me, though, is that a third line exists and has existed this whole time - I had no idea! It’s unmarked: a CM has been standing near its entry point with a handheld sign saying Single Riders.

Are there other rides that are set up in a way that could add a Single Rider line like that?

I may be wrong, but I think the first denial was for one daughter, but she couldn’t do the chat for her other daughter cause she was asleep. So now she finally got through for her other daughter and she was approved.

Remy's Ratatouille Adventure has one. I'm not sure exactly where the entrance to it is, but it is to the left of the Lightning Lane.
One of the last times we went, we were standing still in the LL line. We could see a pretty solid of VIP tour guests going in using that line
