I believe the R2Q is that if you need to leave the queue that the cast member will allow you to return to your group. I had this last year when my daughter had to leave the line. The cast member allowed us to return to our group when they got close to boarding the ride.

This makes me wish that we had explained why it would not work for us, as the first part of our call went exactly the same as yours (almost immediate denial without CM really listening about his needs and suggesting "return to queue") but we just took it as is and didn't try to explain further. I also felt like they were suggesting this "alternative" first to everyone to see if they accept without further asking for DAS. We did not even get a chance to speak with a health professional.

It might be worth it to try it again in chat and see what happens once you expain. I have seen posts of multiple instances of someone coming back in the chat after thinking it over and explaining why other accomodations would not work for them.

It's worth a try if nothing else. Worst case scenario, you get told no again and have to try the trip with the accomodations.

I don't want to interrupt discussion but this is not the thread for discussion on DAS

Please move those here:
Changes Coming to DAS

Please continue to use this to give feedback on your DAS experience as I am hope it will help calm the nerves of those worrying about the process compared to how it us to be.
Sorry about that! I often lose track of which thread I'm in.

I have moved some conversations to the other thread. If anyone finds their post is missing here, you'll find it over there (link above).

Edited to add: I ended up using my phone.

For those who have gone through the process, on the registration page, did the circle keep turning until it connected with a CM? It may be my laptop, but the circle has been turning for 5 min now.

Daughter was approved. Registered today using my phone (see prior post). Once I answered the chat pre-registration questions, the wait was about 30 min. The video chat wasn't too difficult. Health professional wasn't needed. I had daughter sitting next to me, She is nonverbal so I spoke on her behalf. CM took picture and approved for 120 days.

Follow up question for those that have applied- so when you call now you speak to a CM and the health professional separately? Or are they both on the call? Are the interview questions still pretty much the same?
You talk to the CM first and if he/she thinks that you may be qualified, then you talk to the health professional and the CM both at the same time. Yes, the questions are pretty much the same. Then they confer with each other alone and come back with their decision.

So the CM can’t approve anyone without the health professional or is it if the CM is unsure then they’ll bring them in? I thought it was the latter.

It is the latter. A CM can approve DAS on their own. If uncertain they are apparently pulling in a healthcare professional to consult.
That's my understanding too.
It's also possible that a new CM might need to verify a certain number of approvals with a healthcare professional before they can do it on their own

So we actually did end up calling back and were denied again. When trying to explain more we were specifically told that it really didn't matter because due to the makeup of our party we would continue to be denied. Apparently if you have more than two party members 14+ you are automatically steered toward the "leave the line" option I guess. Doesn't really help in our specific situation but we have made alternative plans for this trip and will try again next trip.

That would not help in my situation and its only 2 adults.
If I need to leave the line I need the other person to come with me.
Basically what I need is to be in line the least amount of time possible as leaving and coming back will not make my condition better.

Can someone tell me if you are an Annual Passholder is it still 30 days out to call to register? I read somewhere that it was 120 days out for AP's.

thank you

Approved. First time registering for DL but have been approved in the past for WDW. Our visit begins June 19 (so the first day under new rules).

I don't know if that made me approved under the old rules, but it felt exactly the same to me. She told me she was reviewing my file and then I told her DH was getting DD. She asked if I wanted to take the picture first and then discuss her needs--we talked for a moment, DD came in and she took the picture and DD left and we finished the conversation. It was pretty quick. She also offered and booked pre-selects for me (which is why I'm wondering if its old system even though the visit is under the new system). She booked my pre-selects and was very pleasant.

BONUS: We are going to WDW in November (all my daughter knows about) so after she took the picture she said "see you in a few months" and I very much appreciate her playing along.

Can someone that was approved explain how they did the party. We are a family of five. Grand parents, parents, and autistic son. How does it work can you pick four from the group or has anyone been allowed to have five?
Have you already been approved for DAS? Based on what @LuvinTheWorld stated above, it seems like with 4 adults you will likely be steered to the option where 3 adults would line up and then the DAS son and one other adult would wait outside and join your party at the merge point.

Registration opens 30 days prior to first park date for everyone.
If approved, DAS is valid for up to 120 days for APs; length of ticket for others.

Did your DAS get extended for 30 or 120 days?

I do not believe that is accurate as all of our party is 14+ and my daughter was approved.
