Dancing With The Stars!

I watched all the episodes of the first Dancing With The Stars and will again this time around.

Personally - I wish they would get some good music, and kill off the cheesy singing/pop stuff. What's up with that??

Secondly,, I would love for there to be NO view voting. For once I would love to see fair judging (and I think Bruno and Carrie need to be given the boot because they bounce all over the place with their scores and comments). Wouldn't it be great to actually have couples who work hard and perform well advance each week? Wouldn't it be wonderful that the trophy goes to the couple who truly mastered the techniques and style and artistry of the dance?

I personally thought Master P should have gotten the boot the first week - then again this week. But I knew his fans and viewers who love watching a train wreck week after week would vote to keep him in. It would have been nice to have Kenny and Tatum get a couple of more episodes - they were trying to improve their dancing.

The only reason that I can think that Master P is still around is because of his partner, Ashly. I have liked her from the first time around when she danced with Joey McEntire.

I don't know if it is true, but I heard that the Wrestler chic used to be a ballet dancer, jazz dancer and tap dancer for many tears and was a dancer for some Professional Football team. If that is true, then she really has had an advantae over some of the others....

That is what they were talking about on The View this morning. If that is the case, then I don't think that she should even continue. This is suppose to be about turning people who don't dance into ballroom dancers. That guy is still on because there is a campaign to vote for him in protest to the other girl being on the show.

Here it is directly from the bios on the abc site.

Growing up in Baltimore, Maryland, Stacy naturally gravitated towards physical activity. From the time she was three years old, Stacy was taking ballet, jazz and tap. The taste for the spotlight while dancing soon spurred an interest in modeling and acting. Prior to entering the world of wrestling, Stacy worked as a model and actress as well as a physical therapist technician and a Baltimore Ravens cheerleader.

Stacy took dance lessons when she was a child and then she was a model and cheerleader before going into wrestling. I have a feeling that she's not the only person on there who had lessons when she was a child and I hardly think that makes her a professional dancer. :confused3

And I wondered about the whole Tatum/actress thing. What has she done in the last 30 years? Anyone know?

Tatum's filmography

Oh, come on now. How could you miss her as Slim in 2003's "The Technical Writer" or "The Scoundrel's Wife" in 2003? Anyone ever hear of these??? :confused3

I'm pretty sure I did see her in "Woman on the Run: The Lawrencia Bembenek Story." :rotfl:

I'm so glad she's gone. Master P is classless, but I couldn't take another week of Tatum's pouting and claiming she's nervous, especially after her spouting off about what a competitor she is.

Is there seriosuly an organized campaign to vote for P? I haven't heard of anything.

The infamous Vote for the Worst from American Idol isn't doing anything for this show because American Idol is starting up soon.

But if there is another group banding together for this, thats pretty funny.

(And no, I haven't voted for P, in fact I haven't voted at all)

That is true, but the professional cheerleading she did with the Baltimore Ravens suggests more than just childhood dance classes. I worked with a lady once who had been a cheerleader for the Redskins. There was very little "cheering" and a whole lot of dancing. I also caught an episode or two of the show on CMT about becoming a Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader. Those ladies had extensive dance training.

That being said, I'm sure some of the others have some dance training as well, and others have NONE whatsoever (Master P anyone? )

I don't care either way, it is just a for fun fluff show that I enjoy :flower:

Although I see your point....I have been a cheerleading and dance coach for MANY years and I can tell you, she IS a dancer, all be it not a ballroom dancer, but a dancer none the less. She has a huge advantage over the others. As soon as I saw her on the clips practicing for the first show, I could see it in her. There is something different about the way those who have had extensive dance experience carry themselves and move when they are learning as compared to those who have None.
I could see a bit of something in Drew also....
Now, this does NOT take away from my enjoyment of the show. I really like it and will continue to watch it. She is one of my favorites, as is Drew.

I just feel that if they are going to try to take "nothing" dancers and turn them into ballroom dancers, that they need to be a bit more careful in choosing their contestants so as to be fair to those who have absolutely no training in dance....(well, at least no more than a couple of years as a child :rotfl: )

I am looking forward to next week :flower:

She was disappointed and tried hard not to cry. I don't think it's nice that they have to have a final dance when they are just booted off.

They make them do this on American Idol - whoever's booted that week has to sing goodbye. Never know why they make a someone crying try to sing.

This is a little of the subject, but I was curious about Lisa's lips. She has had those enormous lips for as long as I can remember. Do you think that she started early with the collagen or could they actually really just be that big naturally? I really do not mean to be nasty, just really curious?

We watched this show for the first time the other night and only caught the second half. Master P looked pathetic trying to do the quick step. :rotfl: He reminded me of a 3 year old with one of those stick horses galloping around the backyard! :rotfl2: How the heck does he think he can pull off smooth dance steps with rubber sole shoes?

On the debate about whether Stacey's background is fair, if you are going to say that, the same can be said for Drew who spend many years doing intense choreography when he was in 98 Degrees. Truthfully, I don't think that either of them had a fair advantage when you are talking about ballroom dancing. Sometimes people that have had a lot of experience in certain dances - hip hop, ballet, etc. have a hard time getting over the "habits" that dance taught them and ballroom is very strict in the different ways you have to carry yourself in each dance. It's a very technical dance right down to the last detail. See what you learn by being addicted to TV shows and having watched last years "So you think you can dance?" :rotfl: A lot of the "trained" dancers had difficulty with ballroom because of other learned habits from their dance of choice.

On the subject of voting - why don't shows like this and American Idol have people vote on the contestant they think SHOULD leave that week? Wouldn't that cut down on the number of people getting votes "just because they have a fan club" or the "vote for the worst" movement? Heck, take a hint from Survivor, they don't vote for the people they WANT to stay on the island... well, at least until the final vote ;)

Good point about Drew. And thanks for pointing out how hard it is to switch from one dance style to another if you're not used to it. I had no idea!

This is kind of funny though. I read somewhere that Jerry Rice had ballet training in the past. I wonder if it helped him be such a good receiver?

Maybe if we keep digging, we'll find all kinds of past experience and everyone will have to go until there's only..................Master P lumbering around in his Frankenstein boots. ;)

IF MASTER P***(fill in the astericks) IS NOT GONE NEXT WEEK, I WILL NOT BE WATCHING THE SHOW ANYMORE!!!! :crazy2: :crazy2: :crazy2: :crazy2: :crazy2: Oh, and by the way, I use to take jazz/tap/ballet back in the day, and let me tell you Ballroom dancing is VERY hard, for me anyway, its hard on my hips as they LOCK UP on me when I dance "stiff." :guilty: GO TEAM GEORGE!! :cool1:

They did NOT used to be that big. She is such a beautiful woman, and her lips were just fine. Such a shame she felt the need to "improve them" :scared1:

Kind of like Meg Ryan and Melanie Griffith. Yikes! :scared:

I also heard the thing about switching from one dance style to another, ballet is very differnt than Ballroom.

Oh and just another bit of info Drew Lachey's wife is a ballroom dancer too...I read it in an interview he had in some magazine.

To pass the time until next week... Lets pick who we would like to see on the show....

Boston Rob would be my number one pick (Not a real star, but I would still love to see more of him... lol) (I wouldnt mind Janie, Howie or Kasyar from BB either... :rotfl2: )

Danny DeVito (see siggy) I could see Ashley and him working well together... lol

Kristy McNicol (seeing Tatum reminded me of Little Darlings and I always like Kristy better)

Donny Osmond (same era, although I was never a big Donny fan back in the day, I think he grew up nicely)

Julia Roberts

Sooooooooooo who would you love to see??

I don't see Boston Rob being interested unless there was the possibility of some HUGE cash at the end of the series but.... I would LOVE to see him do this as well. Would make for some very good tv!

Patrick Swayze - it would be fun to see if he has more than Dirty Dancing in him!

Oo! In the same dancing train of thought... what about John Travolta?
