I just began reading through this thread and decided to stop here and comment. I simply cannot understand the posters who are criticizing these little girls based on what amounts to 10 second clips from what were more likely to be closer to 3 minute routines....there's hardly enough there to judge. Nevermind that from what is shown it is certainly quite clear that some of those little girls are really quite talented and show great promise for the future if they decide to continue to dance. These girls are only 8, 9, 10 yrs old. Go into any studio and take a look at the 8. 9 and 10 yr old dancers. Children of that age who can dance like that (however 'imperfect' they may still be) are few and far between.
I also have a daughter who dances, like so many of the posters here. At her studio however the Competition Team is reserved for the the most advanced dancers.....the girls are absolutely amazing. Rarely do you find a girl under the age of 13 on that team. Instead they have a Performance Team for those younger girls who demonstrate great promise and commitment (my daughter is a member of this Team). Before this show I wasn't even aware that intermediate, even novice, dancers were allowed to compete....anywhere. Sadly, for some studios, 'Competition Team' doesn't seem to have much significance and seems to be not much more than another money-making opportunity. From now on,when I hear someone claim their child is on 'Competition Team', I will no longer be so quick to be impressed.
