Dance mom's are wack

watching the show now. Abby had A LOT of nerve telling Maddie's dad to stay away from her. Someone needs to remind that cow that she has NO physical rights to those girls!:sad2:

Normally, I would say you are right -- and I don't agree *at all* with how Abby handled him. However, their mother was away and left the kids in Abby's care. Since Melissa left the girls in Abby's care, I would think she would have some rights as Melissa's proxy.

If I were babysitting kids who were part of a contentious divorce while their custodial parent was out of town, I'm not sure what I'd do if the non-custodial parent showed up. I probably wouldn't be very comfortable with it. I think Abby was in a bad position. Admittedly, she seems to handle things in about the worst possible way, but...

He showed up before Melissa left...so she left her girls knowing their father was going to stay.

I would have put Abby in an even more difficult position if she told me how to raise my children. That's what irks me about the parents on this show. They give Abby the power. Plus Melissa knew their dad was there. Didn't stop her from heading to Florida.

They wouldn't have to worry if they wore a body stocking. Every single week my DD14 (who is in her 13th year of dance) comments about the belly buttons on the girls....and how they NEVER ever wear a body stocking, so instead we see them worrying about their top and we see their belly button. Is our studio the only one where a body stocking is required for performances? If those girls were wearing a body stocking, they could pin the costume to it and never have a worry about skirts riding up or down, tops shifting, etc.

I always giggle to myself when I see everyone on the boards posting about the inappropriateness of the costumes...come to an all star cheer competition...dance outfits will look amish to you :rotfl:

Most cheer teams are wearing crop tops and booty shorts or micro mini skirts, tons of makeup and HUGE bows. There is no option of a body stocking, it would never work for stunting.

I think my DVR has decided that Dance Moms is rotting my brain. It has refused to record the last two episodes.
So did mine. It originally showed up on the list of what was going to record that night but it never ended up recording and there was nothing that recorded instead during that time so I don't know what happened. One time is odd enough but it happened twice. My DVR has been acting up in other ways, too. It won't let me delete Teen Mom no matter now many times I try!

Abby isn't the parent or legal guardian. The rights of dad over ride the "rights" of the dance teacher.

I wonder if dad will pull his kids from her school. Did you see the look on Abby's face when he made that threat?

I wish I could stop watching this show, but I just can't. Last episode what stood out to me was the two girls wearing hoodie jackets with huge messages on the back saying "SOOOO JUICY". I think it was two of the very young girls...ugh. Sorry, but I think that's just wrong.

It is wrong. My DD BFF (at the time) went on a cruise a few years ago and she brought back a gift for her. A pair pink sweat paints with "juicy" on the backside. I never allowed her to wear them. She was 12!:sad2:

Ive always wondered about this. Ive never let my DD11 wear words on her backside. I always had this thing that strange people would be reading staring at her butt and reading LOL.. DH laughs at me and thinks Im being ridiculous. I just think its.. I don't know, creepy ;) Maybe its just my personal complex of not wanting people to stare at my backside LOL!

I don't know why anyone would use that as the name of a clothing line in the first place?:confused3

As to Abby and the Dad: She has no rights to withold the kids from him. I Don't think Melissa has sole custody becuase the gilds talk about thier Dad bieng around. If that isthe case, then he has more right ot the kids than Abby. Melissa left knowing her was going to stay, so apparently she was fine with it.

I agree that Abby has no right to keep the girls from their dad, but I also do not think he belongs in the dressing room.

Any competiton my girls have ever attended absolutly prohibited any males from being in the dressing room.

Also, if Maddie's dad made her nervous before she performed, then he should probably leave her alone. But of course, this is Abby we are talking about and instead of her saying "Dad, Maddie gets nervous before she performs, so maybe just give her a kiss and let her be" she goes on the attack and pisses him off. :confused3

Sorry, I have to kinda agree with the Dad. I wouldn't want Abby anywhere near my kids. The fact that these moms just hand over their parental reigns to her is so weird.

I want to know how everyone can just drop everything and go to these competitions. They were just doing the Florida to Vegas to LA thing and now they're home and going back to LA? Do the moms have jobs or other commitments? I know that Holly is a school principal -- so is she taking time off or is this going on during spring break or summer break? And what about the girls schooling?

I'm guessing they signed a contract to do this show. That could be the main reason why the parents allow Abby to call the shots with their girls. They leave the show, they don't get paid

She said something about the girls being hand-picked - hand-picked to do the Dance Moms show because their moms are the most insane.

I read that it was taped over the summer. Doesn't answer the question about the moms and their other responsibilities but it does explain the kids.

Abby, Maddie & Chloe's moms are on The Today Show. Abby's hair looks like she's wearing a big brown football helmet. WOOF!

I just think its not a "real" depiction of this studio. This , to me, is very staged. They picked these girls and created the situations to make the show. I don't , for a second, believe this travelling and going from show to show , is their normal MO. Neither do I believe that these girls, all of different ages, have been dancing in a group . I think they probably approached the girls and made sure they were willing and able to do this for the show. But Im cynical like that LOL.
