Dance mom's are wack

Dance teacher is crazy.

Moms are crazy.

]Glad I have boys.

And I thought sports were bad...holy mackeral.

I cant help but watch:lmao:

Haha! I totally agree! Glad I have a son! :scared1:

But I've gotta say I DVR both Dance Moms and Toddlers and Tiaras! It's like a bad accident, you just can't look away! And I feel like watching these crazy moms feeding their toddlers pixie sticks and mountain dew make me feel like I must be an AWESOME mom! Haha!

It seems that Abby claims many of the things like her pyramid was all staged for tv. http://www.tvguide.com/News/Dance-Moms-Abby-Miller-1035511.aspx

Your pyramid system of visually ranking your favorite students was very controversial on the Internet ...
Miller: I've never done that in my life. That has nothing to do with me. That's the show. They came up with that whole process.

Is it tough to be asked to do something you wouldn't normally? Ultimately, you're representing yourself and your business and no one watching can accurately distinguish reality TV machinations from reality.
Miller: No. There's a lot of things on the show that would never, ever happen. It's television. When we got the opportunity to do the show, all the competitions that came to Pittsburgh were over. All these competitions we're attending, I've never attended in my life. Teaching children a routine in a hotel hallway that they are performing onstage the next day? That's insane. Nobody would do that. But you know what? These kids' ability to comprehend quickly is truly a gift. This show has taught them, "I'm gonna learn it, and I'm gonna do it." The whole pyramid thing was for the show because we could not do a new solo for every single child, and a new group and new duets and trios every single week. There's just not time available.

That pyramid ranking system is awful! If Abby has an argument with a mom that child is placed on the bottom. And Abby will tell the child why she was placed. It usually has nothing to do with the child's talents. It's usually about the parent.

Does anyone have any clips on Abby actually dancing? I'm guessing at one point she actually did more then waving her arms around!

Abby actually stopped dancing and started her company when she was 14, supposedly after she realized that choreography is really where her interest was.

Don't assume that having a boy will automatically keep you from the world of dance. Mine started at the age of 8. 11 years later still going strong and no signs of stopping. Wouldn't change it for anything in the world.

So my dd17 has been watching a lot of dance video's on you tube lately (she dances herself 6 days a week) and she noticed that the costumes Abby's kids wore for the *ELECTRICITY* number they did (I think that was the one where Holly didn't like the *butt smacking*) those costumes are the same costumes that the group of 7 year olds got blasted about when the *SINGLE LADY* video went viral a while back. Sure enough, they are the same costumes, just different colors.

What poor judgements has Holly made? Holly knows that Abby Lee is the one whose students end up on Broadway, dancing for Disney, in Cirque de Soliel, etc. If that's what Nia wants, then what choice does Holly have? Holly complained to Abby Lee about the costumes twice and Abby told her if she didn't like it, she could go elsewhere. Where else is Holly going to go if Abby's the only show in town that has such a high success rate?

Actually she could go to Pittsburgh Musical Theater which has many alums that are working in all of those places!

(full disclosure...that's where my kids take classes and they LOVE it!)

I was going to say the same thing. One of my daughters best dance friends is a boy. FWIW, boys are very valuable to a ballet school & can sometimes get good scholarships & lots more opportunities for performing than girls at their same talent level. OTOH, you do have to make sure that they can actually train your dancing boy properly & not just stick him in girls classes & expect him to do the same things. DDs friend does some private lessons with one of the male company members to make sure he gets those boy skills.

Besides, what teenage boy wouldn't want to be in a room full of girls in leotards? :rotfl:  :rotfl2:

Not living in that area, I would have no idea! Glad your kids like their studio!

I wonder if Chole will be forced to keep dancing now that's she's voiced she doesn't want to anymore. Poor thing froze up on stage. She's just not into to it anymore.

I didn't hear Chloe say she doesn't want to dance anymore (ever). I heard her say she needs a break. I would imagine that this TV-induced schedule is CRAZY and way too much for almost any kid.

I hope she gets her break, and I hope that she doesn't get pushed into doing season 2... but I hope she continues dancing. (Renewed for Season 2: http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/20...newed-by-lifetime-for-a-second-season/105079/)

Up until she froze, she danced BEAUTIFULLY. It was the best I had ever seen her. She is a mechanical dancer, techincally good but no emotion. But last night she hit a point where she actually grew as a dancer. I think its a sign that she is really progressing.

we took it as she needed a break...not that she didn't want to dance.

Did you hear Abby tell these girls not to worry if their top came up during the dance?? She said it happens and the judges have all seen ****ies before.

OMG!! These are little girls, my dd who will be 18 next week and has danced since she was 4 was shocked to hear Abby say that to them...and she noticed those tops were really bra's that they dressed up!!

They wouldn't have to worry if they wore a body stocking. Every single week my DD14 (who is in her 13th year of dance) comments about the belly buttons on the girls....and how they NEVER ever wear a body stocking, so instead we see them worrying about their top and we see their belly button. Is our studio the only one where a body stocking is required for performances? If those girls were wearing a body stocking, they could pin the costume to it and never have a worry about skirts riding up or down, tops shifting, etc.

Girls at our studio ALWAYS wear nude colored leotards under their costumes. There's never any fear of wardrobe malfunction.

I've read more than a few posters in the early days of this thread comment about how, based on this show, they are so glad their girls don't dance, or how they would never now allow them too. So sad that people can be so easily influenced. It's a reality show for heaven's sake.

Our studio uses them, and only the most senior of girls (16-18) ever have even a partial middrif costume. Most competiton studios in our area don't use them under 2 piece costumes however. Apparently, they don't judge well. According to the moms I know that compete, they lose costuming points at a lot of places for having them.

I think my DVR has decided that Dance Moms is rotting my brain. It has refused to record the last two episodes.

watching the show now. Abby had A LOT of nerve telling Maddie's dad to stay away from her. Someone needs to remind that cow that she has NO physical rights to those girls!:sad2:
