Dance Moms - anyone still watching?

I liked the show at first, it's all too fake now. I can't watch it anymore it's ridiculous. I can't wait for their 15 minutes of fame to be up

Sorry, but no way was it in any way appropriate in my book for a child to dance in a flesh body suit. Can you tell she isn't nude? Absolutely. Clearly the wardrobe choice was made for a reason. I simply can't get behind the idea it's appropriate for a child.

Totally agree with this

I honestly didn't give her costume any thought until now. I actually find some of the other dance costumes more inappropriate-the ones that are cut really short with a lot of mid-drift get more a reaction from me. Compared to those flashy getups, Maddie's costume was like a paper bag.

I thought that the fight scene was so staged. One of the original moms nailed it when she said that they weren't kicked out because those 2 girls were what kept the team competing in the younger level and against the elite team. Maddie didn't deal with the loss very well. So, has Abby turned on Maddie now, setting her up for failure? Seems to me like she's copying Cathy by bringing in good dancers that have been trained by other teachers and having them dance under her name. To me that's like admitting she doesn't have the skills to take her girls any farther.

Agreed. First ep and a fight? Scripted!

Both of those women should have been made to take their girls and leave, that was disgusting. If It was scripted and I'm pretty sure it was then shame on both of those women for going along with it, disgraceful to show yourself like that. Especially in front of your kids.

AND "Christ"y, if she is as religious as she claims then I am appalled at her.
The mean things she says shows me she uses her religion when it suits her.
There is no way I would have let my 8 year wear the skimpy black and white costume on stage, it was completely inappropriate for a child.
My daughter danced for over 10 years and never did her teacher choose something like that for anyone of her students.

No doubt plenty of the costumes featured on the show are wholly inappropriate -- one notably so much so that even the dirtbag producers have pulled the episode from airing ever again.

My problem with the music video costume in particular is the fact that it's all Maddie and her parents obviously took no stand to protect their daughter from exploitation. If they can say they didn't know & their hands were tied, that is simply demonstration that they are incapable of providing the proper management, guidance and protection for their child. It's not for the $, because there's plenty of that already. You have to wonder when the TV show fame dwindles in the next few years, will we rekindle the flames of fame with a sex tape? I'd put nothing past her mother, absolutely nothing.

Oh for sure Melissa's main goal is to exploit her children. I mean, homeschooling just because she wants more time to build their portfolios? It's terrible.

Although after watching Raising Asia, I think that poor girl is ogin to have it worse in the coming years.

I didn't see Asia. Didn't care for her mother but I did think she cared about Asia. Is the mom the problem or something else for her?

That "fight" scene was definitely staged. At one point I thought I saw Christ-E with a smile on her face. I rewound it and watched it a few times, and yep, she was definitely smiling.

And the evil part of me likes it when Maddie cries. That girl is really going to have a problem as she gets older if she can't get over the fact that she's not going to win at everything in life.

Change of subject, but did anyone watch Abby`s summer show? I saw the first show but forgot about it the next week. After that it was listed inn TV Guide but didn`t air in my area. It was a waste of time anyway.

I watched Tuesday`s show. Not sure I`ll watch any more. All the fighting is insane and pitting the teams against each other is horrible. I realize she needs new "stories", but this is clutching at straws. I don't understand how these mothers can subject their children to this, all for the almighty dollar.

She just puts all her focus and time into making Asia a star. She's also very Type A personality, she would freak out about Asia not pickin gup dance moves and nitpick at all the little details on her costumes.

She also said that she doesn't get to spend a lot of time with their youngest daughter (who luckily has her father to hang out with) and that her daughter will probably grow up not knowing who her mom was.

Her studio rescue show was taken off the schedule after 2 episodes. Her ultimate dancer competition wasn't renewed for a 3rd season. It will be interesting to see if Dance Moms comes back for a 5th season if it is 30 or 40 episodes like they've been doing, or if they'll go back to just 13 like the 1st season.

Her Abby's Rescue will be on next week, September 16, so I am guessing there are a few more shows already filmed.

The last few shows before this break were especially stomach churning. It will be interesting how it goes forward w/o Chloe w/ the ALDC at all, even only at competitions. I believe she will still be part of the show.

I agree, this season was hard to watch. My heart broke when Chloe said she heard all the things Abby said about her.

I think the lawsuit is ridiculous, unless Paige was contractually obligated to be there. As much as I hate to say it, Abby has every right to act like a jerk and Paige (via Kelly) has every right to NOT put up with it (by leaving).

I've always wondered what the Hylands were up to these days. Are the girls still dancing?

Chloe will not return. The contract was up and her mother did not re-sign. She dances at another dance studio and seems to be doing well.

The Hyland girls are still under contract dispute while being cancelled from the show there was some glitch allowing them to dance with another company in competitions (this has not yet been 100% confirmed).

Kelly filed a lawsuit including her children. Part of the abuse charges were removed from the lawsuit. Paige as a separate party has sued Abby Lee on her own for the abuse.

They are taping season 5 but the does not guarantee is will be aired. A lot of drama whether requested by the station and or on Abby's own terms has been happening lately.

There are many angry letters and petitions being sent to Lifetime/Disney owners of the show for child abuse.

Yes the mother's take them there and knew what was going to happen but it was originally a 6 show contract. They were not smart enough to get lawyers and or knew enough when the longer contracts were signed. If they took their children out they were sent letters from Lifetime claiming to sue them for everything they owned. The drama ball was swinging both ways.

I have chosen to stop watching at this point. Whether it was all an act or not those girls are just like my daughter and I feel like I am exploiting them by continuing the abuse as "I" see it.

I blame Kelly and the other moms.

If Abby were truly that horrible to children, maybe these moms were contractually obligated to stay there, but all the other moms of all the other students weren't and she'd have been out of business. She couldn't keep a business with these 6 students.

Why would all her teachers stay and teach with her?

Most of the fights were with the moms. She did say mean things to Chole and Paige and her sister (can't remember her name anymore) but many Dance Moms here have said they've heard the same backstage.

Apparently the most heinous things Abby said about Chloe were not shown -- I guess in the end thankfully for both Chloe and luckily for Abby. Abby was shreiking comments about a physical defect of one of Chloe's eyes.

I've heard Chloe will be on the show, simply not w/ ALDC, which she has not trained w/ for at least a year anyway, despite what the show presented.
