I hope everything went well tonight. I'm sure that her hair looked great. Please let us know.
Natalie:)

It worked so much better. Her curls looked so much better, and they lasted all night. She was so excited and not at all nervous. She's a little shy, so I was worried about stage fright. It looks like I'm stuck with dance rehearsals for at least a little while longer.

Really, I preparing for it to be long haul. She started asking to take ballet when she was 2.5. I promised her she could try it when she was 4 if she still wanted to. She still wanted to, so we signed her up this fall. She's been doing it for 3 months now, and actually gets more excited about it now. It's so cute.

How did your dd do? Dd8 recalled, and scored high enough to participate in nationals (not sure if we're going - I can't afford to take everyone to WDW in July, and it wouldn't be worth it with the heat and the crowds). However, how can I take just one child to WDW! :sad2:

Just got back from Columbus late last night. DD11's ceili did not recall, her trad set did (honorable mention). DD7's mixed ceili and girls ceili were both NOT last (so better than expected!) and her trad set also recalled (honorable mention, too, but the girl coming up onto the stage behind her pushed her, and she did a face-plant on stage in front of the entire exhibition hall!! She stood on stage through the photos, and didn't cry till she got to me. Her hand is missing a chunk of skin, ouch!)

First O for both girls, so we were happy they got medals! (Both only learned their sets in August!) And a huge congrats to your dd! My younger dd will most likely be invited to do solos at O next year, but it's a longer trip so I don't know that I will consider her ready.

OP, hope your dd's hair turned out well. If not, I bet she was beautiful anyway. I LOVE dance performances...and probably wouldn't have noticed if the dancers' curls were coming undone, lol

My little dancer has fine, stick-straight hair, so I feel your pain. We haven't had to do curls for dance, but did for her brief foray into cheerleading. One of my friends who has serious cheerleading girls told me gel the hair the night before, pull it into a ponytail and then section the ponytail and roll in sponge curlers and tissue paper. Loosely tie a bandana around the pony for over night. You can smooth strays with more gel in the morning. They did it overnight as they usually had to be up and out early in the a.m. She said to leave the hair covered in the curlers as long as possible. If you have to take them down to travel, then style your curls, spray them good, and recover with bandana. This would have worked beautifully if I had remembered to gel my DDs hair rather than wet it. She said the key is using the tissue paper.

DD also had to have an updo to be in a wedding. The bride wanted the tight curls. The stylist gelled my DDs hair within an inch of it's life, pulled it in a ponytail, and then to get the curls used a small barrel curling iron. Those curls lasted! My DD begged to keep her curly hair the next day. Grudgingly I let her keep her curls, and they lasted most of the day. She was so proud!

Good luck, and "break a leg" to your tiny dancer!

Yea! My DD started dance at 4 as well. Next year she'll be starting pointe classes. She's just as excited about that as she was her first day class at 4. My how times flies!

Your poor dd! My dd's bff fell 5 second into her reel, but wasn't upset, and danced well after a little break. Dd will start learning the steps for nationals this week - she tends to have issues at Feis' during the transition of one set of steps to the next. Many girls at her studio qualified for worlds - how do these people afford this?!
