We have a Great Dane named Brutus, who was named after the dog in the Disney movie "The Ugly Daschund".

My SIL has a daschund and he's sweet, but not very kid friendly, and they have three kids. Daschunds like to be the one and only dog and get VERY jealous easily. They're a good dog for a couple with no children. But I know they vary in tempermant, but in general they are the way I described. My dog is half daschund and has a jealousy problem with our DD, but for the most part he's a total sweetheart.

We have a sweet dappled doxie named Tipper. We have had him since he was 6 weeks old and he is now 4. He gets along with other animals and actually thinks the cat is his mother. He is great with small children and is extremely protective of my 3 grandkids. Tip is a very social dog but can be stubborn when it came to housebreaking him and he always wants to cuddle up with someone. One of the most lovable dogs I have ever had.

i have one and they are adorable!!!! research the dog itself and where you get it from!!! very important because if you don't one day it could look adorable at the place and then once you take it home. Grrrrrrrrrrr! once you first bring them home they will go on the carpet to state to other dogs it is their property. so do not get mad!!!!!! they are so cute! no matter how bad the dog food smells yes it is still edible to the dog! final thing. start training immediatly. build a trust between you and the dog. but do not think that even though it is so sweet it still has that little bit of wild in it. have fun with your dog and enjoy it!
(p.s. just had to say our dog we have to put to sleep tommorow because she dies at night and then wakes up the next morning and is miserable! she is 14. we will miss her)

i had one growing up. she would bite me at the slightesat provocation. i saved that dog's life at least once a week. i never told my father.
