But when I regularly see video's like the one here I can only imagine what a movie maker can do with it.

He's also got another video clip taking with an older 50mm f/2 manual focus lens on that same page along with some still images.

We may see a lot of people looking for older Nikon AI prime lenses specifically to use for video. They are pretty inexpensive but still sharp pieces of glass and may lend themselves nicely for the video feature of this camera body.


I certainly would not call this anything close to bogus.

I think the naysayers should start eating their words. Those look pretty darn good. Personally, I'd love to have the capability to capture that kind of video with my dslr. Wish my D300 could do it. And this is just the first generation of this feature; the quality and functionality will no doubt improve.

Looks a 100% better then what I get on my Canon S3 which is what I currently use for video. I don't think Nikon is in any way trying to say it'll replace a 'real' video camera so putting it down seems pointless to me. Of course you have those who think a DSLR shouldn't have video and that's cool too but it's a nice feature for those who might leave the DSLR behind in favor of taking a camera that has video for a particular occasion and end up with crappy pictures and crappy video. It would be nice not to have to make that choice. I guess that's the neat thing about being a newbie to DSLR, I'm not purist about anything.

Can ya'll tell I want this camera in a bad way? But alas, I'm saving up for some lenses and I'll get those first. No doubt by the time I can afford it the next generation will be out.

From the responses, I guess my comment seemed harsh. I didn't intend it to be. It is just that I heard that you only get like 5 minutes of video from it, which is too short for me.

Regarding the on-camera AF....Although I am pretty good with my D70 and consider myself an enthusiast, I don't really know what this means. How does it the D90 compare to the D70 in that regard, and what does that mean to the average user? Thanks!
