D-Day Invasion- "Strange"-ly Imminent!! TRIP REPORT IS UP!!

This question was easy for me as it is the one thing we have to always have in our house...

Part A-You HATE/DESPISE Bananas HOWEVER you will MAKE an EXCEPTION for A Frozen Banana Treat cause although you tried to make them you think they will be better at the World and your right they will :)

Part B-Mary doesn't do veggies and she tried to sub a Banana for a veggie and got set on fire and roasted just like the boys marshmallows from this last week. :)

Hi Liesa,

Hope your Dad's surgery went well today.

Here's my answer:

Part A: This one - not so hard: you avoid bananas like the plague, but will make an exception for frozen bananas!! Go figure!! :rotfl:

Part B: This one is a little trickier: Maroo's food group of avoidance are fruits and vegetables. She plans on making up for this by eating a banana (I think she's trying to get the banana to count for 2 points)! But she is also planning on eating chocolate strawberries! Let me know if I have to pick only one choice!!

HI All,

I just got back from going out to dinner with a couple who is adopting here, and it was

a) wonderful to encourage them and hear their story!

and

b) wonderful to share an entire bottle of wine with the mom to be. Yes, I'm feeling it....

so, wtih that, here go my responses, excuse me if they are wobbley. :lmao::rolleyes1

Just wanted to let you know that I'm still here. I just haven't had the time or energy to play your game but I like following along. :thumbsup2

Leslie- I made a prediction, although only to myself, that you would be "tired" about now. It's a few weeks into school now, and I totally understand that you are tired and emotionally drained right now. Please just join in the banter and have fun with this- that's the purpose- no stress, no pressure, just fun. Love you, hun!

My answers:

Part A -

Part B -

Perfect answers!! You get an A+!!!

:rotfl: It's with ketchup and most people think it's too spicy! ;)

Just kidding!

There really is everything here due to the crazy mishmash of cultures. I love it!

W2 is easier than W1, but I'm very nervous about doing 3 minutes next week....!

Does anyone even remember that commercial?? The Pace Picante Sauce one with the Texans?? :lmao::lmao::lmao: I, as a Junior High kid thought it was too funny to quote it over, and over, and over, and over. :rotfl2:

You have quite the opportunity to make an impact right in your own backyard!! :thumbsup2 Ever thought of teaching English??

You can do it!! Trust me on this one... I know. It can be done. ;)

1) great for you!! I wanted to run this morning, but it was raining really hard. I do run if it is just a drizzle (actually very nice if not too cold), but I would have been soaked after a minute. And tonight after work I have to meet my sister at a champagne bar for an after work drink... :sad2: So no run for me today. :rolleyes1

2) sounds delicious! popcorn::

Hmmmm.... we are packing fleeces, but maybe I should trade them out for raincoats?? Which we can't get here. Becuase it NEVER rains here. Well, almost never.

Champagne bar?? I'm not sure what's better the grilled pork I had with Georgian wine, or champagne?? I'm still shocked you went with champagne at the Cali!! That was such a fun surprise this AM! :thumbsup2

yeah i do like them i got a mix to make a batch of those as well, they turned out pretty good, they had a really good flavor but they shrunk up to about half the normal size they were so the jar is only half full of pickles, i might make those again, but i think i will stick with the dill ones next time.

yes, they do that!! Mine did too. So if you want to make a liter (quart, almost) you have to plan for twice as many cucumbers! we also make dilly beans in our household! Try those sometime! VERY good eating!!

Good morning, Liesa. I am still no where near 100%, but definitely feel better today. Not coughing near as much (ribs, however, are still killing me).

Please keep us posted on your dad.

It may be a long, long road, Kathy! As long as it's in 56 days!! Yes, I'm counting for you. Did you mention that?? Still on vicodin??

Dad is going under the knife RIGHT NOW!!! I have to get to bed, but will know in the AM how it went! I must admit I am nervous. Going in for surg at 40 is not like going in for surg at 70!

:rotfl2: Good one, Liesa!

Love hummus, by the way. I dip my carrots in it.

Tim, I did not know that! Oh, that sounds so good!

You said "we"..... is Mike running with you? I always pictured you slogging it out solo - glad to know you have a running buddy.

So weird about the evil eye!

Okay, on to the quiz. This one was a tad bit harder. Think I'm right on for part A, not so sure about part B:

I'll be praying for you dad today - let us know how it goes:thumbsup2

1) Why thank you!

2) Hummus is so great! Never mind what Tim, Kathy and mary say!!

3) Tim knows Kona like his own kitchen!

4) Last time, yesterday, WE ALL went running- All 3 kids and Mike and I! It was great! We all did our own paces, and the girls made a couple of new friends. One was 1/2 Russian/ 1/2 Tartar, the other little girls was 1/2 Russian/ 1/2 Korean. So cute.

5) Yes, it was harder- got to throw some of those in for fun. But you did well!

6) Dad should be fine. I just wish I could get a hold of my mom. She's not answering her phone.

More prayers for your Dad. I hope they are able to repair the tendons and that he heals quickly. Also, did you ever find the box of missing books?

Thanks so much!! It means a lot to me!!

I suspect the box may have been given to a friend to pass on, but he says no. I just don't know!! At the worst, I will need to refund about $25 to the buyer. NOt so bad, considering!

This question was easy for me as it is the one thing we have to always have in our house...

Great job, Dani!! Awesome!!

Now that you're back on here, I wanted to pose a question... it is about something I pondered on our very long road trip across the country a few weeks ago- maybe you ALL can help me out...

Dani breeds/sells hedgehogs and I totally thought of her when I was thinking about this...

We almost ran over a bunch of them as they are natural around here- sort of all over the place. But, can someone tell me, WHAT was the Good Lord thinking when He created them. Can someone PLEASE tell me HOW this species continues to exist given the nature of hedgehog procreation?? I mean, seriously, think about this for about 3 seconds!! HOW does this happen? I dont' need a video, but I was just pondering: how there can possibly more hedgehogs every day on this earth!!?? :confused3:confused3

OUCH!

Hi Liesa,

Hope your Dad's surgery went well today.

Here's my answer:

Part A:

Part B:

You did splendidly!! Awesome!

He is in right now, as far as I know! But my mom isn't answering her phone- so....???

I'll let you know!

I'm just exhausted and add the stupid kidney stone on top of that this week, well I am just BEAT. I will say that I'm in my 3rd class now and I love it, it's a great class and I actually like going. :thumbsup2

Liesa, I am thinking of your father and pray that everything will work great in surgery!

Your last comment reminded me of a German children's song called "Wenn sich die Igel küssen", which means "when the heghogs kiss" the text continues: they must must must be very very gentle... The next verses continue with other animals (storks, porcupine, elephant) and concludes finally that also humans have to be gentle... The fun is that "Küssen" (kiss) rhymes with "Müssen" (must). Here you can see it:

But it does not help at all with your question! :rotfl:

The champagne was very nice! The bar is in the French department store here in Berlin and we have been meaning to go there for ages. Since we don't have much time together in Berlin anymore, we had to do it today! Champagne is the one alcoholic drink Katharina has the least problems with (her intolerances also make beer and red wine problematic). Therefore she likes to get that instead of a cocktail. And I must say that it is really something special and very delicious and often in the same price range as these speciality drinks... And one feels so luxurious (the British word would be "posh", but I fear this is not common in the US at all)! :goodvibes

But Georgian wine sounds delicious, too! I got a shock at first that you were drinking with the expecting mother!! :scared1: And pork  where did that come from? I thought you wouldn't get any in Blankistan?

It might be 56 days...at least for the ribs to heal. And I'm so upset that Mark won't get his angioplasty until 2 weeks before our trip. :scared1::scared1:

I will keep your dad in my thoughts throughout the day.

Ha!! I think that's a super sweet song!! LOVE IT!! And I can hear the rhyming too. :thumbsup2 And yes, "gentle" is what comes to mind when I try to answer my own question! :lmao:

I remember some discussion about some alcohol affecting Katharina! Champagne isn't so bad a thing to turn to. I like it, but my budget does not. Yes, you're time together is running short. Spending some quality sister-time together is a great way to wrap up your time there. I hope you will still continue to have lots of opportunities to see each other, though, after your move!

HAHA!! She and her husband are ADOPTING a little boy. The process is LONG and filled with discouraging ups and downs, but it's nice to watch the process and encourage and counsel along the way. :thumbsup2

WE live in a country of countless closet pork eaters. But the Russians adore their pork, and although it's harder to get, we can, and enjoy it!!

:lmao::lmao::lmao: We will forgive you.

Thank you, my dear; it's been a while since I've had other English-speaking adults to share an evening (and bottle of wine) with. Mike always gets beer on tap- DOUBLE BLECH!!

I can't imagine what you've been through- hacking up a lung bad enough to bruise ribs is HORRIBLE!!

2 WEEKS!! What is he thinking!! Mark!! :scared1:

Mom's phone must be out of range?? Ugh!! I keep trying but no answer!

Mom's phone must be out of range?? Ugh!! I keep trying but no answer!

I know that in Germany in certain areas of the hospital they are really strict about enforcing no mobile phones because these can influence the sensitive machines there. So perhaps she had to switch it off?

It wasn't his decision but the doctor's. They want him to have at least a month healing from his surgery.

Let us know if mom answers.

Thanks, Ladies. Finally got a hold of my sister, and she tells me that they predicted a several HOUR surgery- (I was thinking one hour??) The hand is an amazingly complex, wonderful, Masterfully-worked piece of artistry, and I guess it's pretty complicated surgery.

So, despite my best efforts, I need to get to bed, and find out tomorrow AM how it all went. You may be right, Magdalene, it could be that they have asked there to be no cell phones, or that she simply has it turned off.

Good nite all!!

Good nite, sweetie.

I'm learning everything about you and Maroo all over again playing this game. Here's my answers :goodvibes

Part A - Liesa avoids bananas like the plague but her favourite snack is a frozen banana dipped in chocolate, covered with nuts

Part B - Maroo detests vegetables but would happily eat a banana with rice krispies and a bit of milk

Ah, nuts! I was just checking e-mail before turning off the computer, and it turns out that little Elizabeth and her mommy and brother and sister are heading back to the US afterall. Apparently, at her 2 week check, they did not like the look of how things were (not) healing in her arm, and need to get further testing and opinions. They fly out Tuesday, while daddy stays behind to help their teammates wrap up and move back to Australia. :sad1: Been a rough few weeks/ months for them.

Also, just heard from Andrew, my son; and he says Dad has not gone in yet, that others' surgeries are taking longer than anticipated. But, that he is well, and in good spirits.

Liesa, I'm so sorry to hear this about little Elizabeth. I'll be thinking about them.

And I'm glad that your dad is in good spirits. I HATE when the surgeries before you run over...it just makes it all the worse waiting for the patient's family (believe me, I know!).

Sorry to hear your Dad is still waiting for surgery. I hope he's not in much pain. Keep us posted

That is a long time for him to have to wait. Poor thing, I bet that he is starving.

I hope you will find some rest tonight while your father is in surgery.

Sorry about little Elizabeth and her family!
