I don't know how you survive the Stan's temperatures. We had 98 today and at 10 pm it is still 90 outside. :sad2: And no airconditioning at home. I actually just got back from the cinema - where I went specifically for entertainment in an airconditioned room. It was wonderful, I even needed the jacket I brought! :cloud9:

How many people are coming to your meet now? It seems like Rosie is right, that's nearly newsworthy! Strangers travelling from so far away to meet up with you in large numbers. :goodvibes

I love the idea with the mint smell for POR! I love mint (just not in my drink, one of the most popular cocktails during the last 10 years here in Germany is the Mojito which is rum, mint, sugar, lime juice with water and ice, and I just don't care for it at all...)! I just bought some mint today to make some couscous salad with it - good for hot days! :thumbsup2

Good thinking of taking bags with you to preserve the rest of the soap to take it home with you! I love the H2O aqua products you get at the Disney deluxe hotels and have quite a few of those soaps still left over from previous trips. Whenever I need a quick Disney reminder, I will just get out one of those! :goodvibes

Hey L! We're 1/2 way through our vacation and I'm woefully behind on TR's. I'll be catching up next Thur or Friday. Until then, hope all is well.

Northeast Florida!! 2 1/2 hours from The Mouse! Of course, it costs more to fly to Orlando from there than from here (NC) or Boston. :confused3 Mia says she would not mind driving me at all, so Rosie you know what that means for future trips, dontcha? FLORIDA RESIDENT RATE!!!

St. Augustine is the oldest city in the U.S. - very pretty and historical...but known for it's many GHOSTS!!!:scared1:

Oh Yea !!!!:banana::worship::banana:

Liessa I might have a few sprigs of mint for your mint julep!!!! The dang stuf grows wild in my yard !!!:rotfl2:

I called my TA for a trip Tic and trimmings for our road trip !!!I'm hoping Trayrene finds out if that hotel is in a safezone !!!!!!

I fell behind again, but I'm all caught up now. Man you had me crying with the scents and memories with your Grandma.

What is the countdown now? to moving? I think a ticker is needed for that too, lol :)

What a great scent for Riverside. I love it. A wonderful way to remember your Grandmother as well. :goodvibes

Love the mint scent and memories of your grandma!

The meet will be great fun!

It is- both sad and happy, a time of memorial, in a VERY small way.

Grandma was the same way, but in her pockets we found used Kleenex's! :lmao::lmao: And cash. She always forgot where she was hiding her cash.

It's amazing what you learn about a person when you start going through their things. Although I felt I knew my mother well, I felt I knew another part of her after that process.

My own mother LOVES Laila! When I was 10, I spilled an entire bottle of it. Oh. MY. GOSH! I have NEVER seen my parents so MAD!!!

HA! I never spilled a perfume bottle, but I can imagine how the folks felt about that one!

Hi Liesa, I am reading your PTR from the start - I figured there is so much that I missed. And it is a lot of fun. So many things I would like to comment on but the conversation has moved on for a year since then, so no point in that. But one thing I just came across: When you were promoted to seargants you mentioned that it meant commandeering 35 people. Which made me think of the DC DISmeet: I guess you are getting close to 35 people meeting there! :goodvibes

I was so sorry to read about your grandmother, but at least it meant that you got to meet Maroo. And Lauren and a bunch of lovely DISers.

I already emailed the corn dog nugget recipe to Katharina, I think we need to try to make them (without setting the kitchen on fire! I could even make them on medium flame, my cooker looks very much like yours. :goodvibes). Or the funnel cakes. I am sure Katharina's DH would love the funnel cakes!

I can picture you living the life of the southern belle! I always wanted to eat at Blue Bayou. If we can't get in there in September I might have to settle for a mint julep. :confused3

Good Evening, My Lovlies!

Just a quick check-in to say howdy-doody. Tomorrow our car will be driven back to The Big City by its new owner, and suddenly life will be all about more taxis.

That is all to say, the owner, his wife, daughter, and a friend of his will be spending the night here. Trying to decide whether to make plov, or manty, or something American. :confused3 Oh yeah, and where to put them up. Yikes, I'm am so NOT ready!

So, I'll try my best to get to responses and a brand new update in the AM, but you'll have to bear with me as it will be touch and go the next 48 hours.

Meantime, make yourselves cozy and keep up the chatter. :goodvibes

:scared1: I hope all goes well with your surprise guests!

I am still reading the first part of your PTR and came across this picture:

Where is this? It looks lovely with the meadow on the roof! :goodvibes

Good luck tomorrow! Each step you take in closing this chapter in your life must be both exciting and scary at the same time. Sending good thoughts your way.

Wow - your departure really is becoming quite the reality! With having to get rid of all of your things there, it's like you are shedding a skin and will soon be growing a new one! Does that make any sense? Well it does to me anyway! :rotfl2:

The heat is starting to be irritating, really. I LOVE hot weather, I'd MUCH rather be hot than cold, because a quick cool shower takes care of it pretty quickly for me. But when it's only getting down to 75 at night, the house won't even cool off, so the last few days, I've been sitting in a pool of my own sweat. :guilty:

And the running- well, that's just a sad circumstance. The last 2 times, I"ve gone out, I could not make my run's goal. I'm up to W6D3 which is a 25 minute run, but I can't even come close- NOT EVEN CLOSE ! Last night I mustered a 14 minute crawl, and HAD to take a 2 minute break, then slogged on for 4 more for a total of a 20 minute sequence. It was heartbreaking! There is NO possible way for me to even THINK about getting to running 30 minutes without stopping: BUT, I wonder how much is because of the heat. I think it was still around 90 when I was out there. So, maybe that's just sapping all the energy I may have had otherwise?? I don't know... this whole running for 30 is just odd. I've done the 20 for W5, so I can only think it MUST be the heat- that's all that's changed?

AH...............a movie!! NICE!! My tops to see are Avatar, Alice, and TS3!! Can't wait. A/C? I'd take those movies even without it!

How many people are coming to your meet now? It seems like Rosie is right, that's nearly newsworthy! Strangers travelling from so far away to meet up with you in large numbers. :goodvibes

Let's see? Jenbear and Bubba, Jenb1023 (the 2 Jens), Glennbo (who's waffling since I might do embarrassing things :lmao:) , me, Ball of Wax (my sis), Rosie, and Tracy (Lucy and Ethel)- those are the for sures.

Maybes: Mike Capell and his family, DisneyAddicted (Ty), PraiseHisName, Denise, and Kim (Burly) are thinking about it.

I love the idea with the mint smell for POR! I'm hearing more and more about Mojitos being popular in the US too. I need to try one! I hear the AK has a nice one.

mMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmm, couscous!! Yum!! Sounds good with a mojito. :thumbsup2 ;) With fresh pita bread!

:goodvibes

I'll definitely be collecting my DIsney soaps! and shampoos and anything else they want to give me for free. :lmao:

Hey L! We're 1/2 way through our vacation and I'm woefully behind on TR's. I'll be catching up next Thur or Friday. Until then, hope all is well.

Hey GB! I didn't realize you were on vacay. Where are you?? Have a super fun time, and I know you'll get caught up when you get back- don't worry about it.

Liessa I might have a few sprigs of mint for your mint julep!!!! The dang stuf grows wild in my yard !!!:rotfl2:

Yeah, you have to be careful with mint!! I always plant mine in pots- otherwise it takes over the whole yard. Not a bad thing to be a weed though.

I called my TA for a trip Tic and trimmings for our road trip !!!I'm hoping Trayrene finds out if that hotel is in a safezone !!!!!!

Safe is VERY important!! Pick a good one!

I fell behind again, but I'm all caught up now. Man you had me crying with the scents and memories with your Grandma.

What is the countdown now? to moving? I think a ticker is needed for that too, lol :)

Hi Jessica! My grandma was a real spitfire! She was about 4'10" and full of vim and vigor that one!

Let's see, we leave on August 15th from our city, and arrive in Nuremberg on the 17th. So almost EXACTLY 1 month from now. Yikes, it's coming up so, so fast!!

Great to see that some more people are coming to the DC DISmeet!!!

It's getting rather exciting!!

My sister lives close to DC.....hmnmnmnmnmn
:rolleyes1

Hmmmm.....

Is there any possible way for you to pay your sis a little visit??!! Could it really work out, Kim?? I mean are you really serious?? :woohoo:

What a great scent for Riverside. I love it. A wonderful way to remember your Grandmother as well. :goodvibes

Thanks, Leslie!! POR just screams mint to me!

Love the mint scent and memories of your grandma!

The meet will be great fun!

It IS going to be VERY fun!!! I can't wait to meet you! I was so jealous when Mary got to meet you in PA for the MagicMeets!

It's amazing what you learn about a person when you start going through their things. Although I felt I knew my mother well, I felt I knew another part of her after that process.

HA! I never spilled a perfume bottle, but I can imagine how the folks felt about that one!

It's so true. I mean I think I know my own mom, but I know that there's a lot of secrets she holds in her dresser drawers and pockets, that I'd NEVER look in now.

We look back and laugh now, but I think I got a spanking- afterall, I was told not to touch it. :rotfl2:

Hi Liesa, I am reading your PTR from the start - I figured there is so much that I missed. And it is a lot of fun. Which made me think of the DC DISmeet: I guess you are getting close to 35 people meeting there! :goodvibes

I can't believe you're going back to read everything, but let me just say, that I have a sneaking suspicion that you will be VERY glad you did in a couple of weeks. ;) ;) ;) (ummm...., that's just a hint to the rest of you as well.)

Well, we're at 8-10, but if everyone brings friends or family, it very well could get up to 35! It's a nice goal anyway. :rotfl:

I was so sorry to read about your grandmother, but at least it meant that you got to meet Maroo. And Lauren and a bunch of lovely DISers.

That's so true! I wouldn't have gotten to meet Mary or TG or MeMom and the others if that hadn't have happened!!! THere's always a bright side.

I almost made funnel cakes the other day!! Oh gosh, they are SOOOOO good!

No, setting your kitchen on fire would be a very bad thing- I know you can do it without any incidents! :lmao: We can only get REALLY bad hotdogs here, so I don't bother with the corn dogs anymore. But will when we get back.

I can picture you living the life of the southern belle! I always wanted to eat at Blue Bayou. If we can't get in there in September I might have to settle for a mint julep. :confused3

Hi Melissa! My fantasy is to wear a Scarlett dress! But can you imagine how hot those ladies must have been!! Yikes!

Yes, I think settling for a cool mint julep would be a very nice second! :lmao: But seriously, eating in the Blue is something very special! Nothing like it breathing in that musty PoTC scent and hearing the crickets and owls! Which by the way are actually ride signals!

:scared1: I hope all goes well with your surprise guests!

I am still reading the first part of your PTR and came across this picture:

Where is this? It looks lovely with the meadow on the roof! :goodvibes

I love that photo!! It is right by the Stave Church in the Norway Pavilion. I think in fact, the Kringla Bakery is right under it.

Good luck tomorrow! Each step you take in closing this chapter in your life must be both exciting and scary at the same time. Sending good thoughts your way.

It is exactly what you say! Scary and exciting. MIke spent most of the weekend applying for jobs in Salem and looking at others in the area. Most are not as much pay as he'd like and some he's overqualified for, but in this market, we may have no choice but to take what we can.

Wow - your departure really is becoming quite the reality! With having to get rid of all of your things there, it's like you are shedding a skin and will soon be growing a new one! Does that make any sense? Well it does to me anyway! :rotfl2:

Morning, Lady!

You should see the chaos that is my home!!! It's downright frightening!! Boxes EVERYWHERE!! I like your analogy of the new skin. Good one!
