D-Day Invasion- "Strange"-ly Imminent!! TRIP REPORT IS UP!!

:rotfl: Dan, you totally crack me up. If this were going to happen then it would mean that there would be that many hurricanes or tropical storms from now until Sept. 13th. I don't think that's what you want. The idea of the game is to guess up to how many named storms will happen between now and Sept. 13th.

ahh i see, okay then i will change my answer to lenard...cause i think they just announced a danielle this weekend, so thats my answer.

nice job on the race, sounds like a good pace for the race.

Hope you have (are having) a fantastic time on your boating vacation! :goodvibes

On a downer note...I will not be coming to the DC meet. :guilty: Something (good) has come up with the kids, and I just don't have the funds to do both. I'm sorry, and I hope you all have a really great time. Take lots of pics, please!!!

Thanks, Denise! But such a bummer!! I know you will really enjoy whatever it is has come up with your girls though. Have a wonderful time doing that!! And of course! We we will take oodles of pix for everyone!

Not trying to overly worry you, but the reason I posted that is because we had a tragedy on the lake near us this past week when someone got the rope for their tube accidentally entangled around their arm and neck.:sad1:

Now that's funny right there:lmao:

........and never been done before..... :rolleyes1

So very sad!!! Especially doing something fun with your family! We will really make sure to be extra careful! :sad1:

Hey Liesa! Sorry no time to catch up on all the banter. Glad to see you are enjoying your time back on the homeland. I can't wait to meet you (and everyone else) in a week's time!!! Do you have pictures from Germany to share???

I took hundreds of pix, but no time to update right now- the uploading alone takes more time that I have. I have an especially fun one of Magdalene hugging a wine bottle! :goodvibes

Weather Update!

As promised, I will try to keep you guys updated on the weather forecast! We have not quite gotten close enough to give you a 10 day outlook yet - but that should be coming! My guess is that highs will be in the lower 90's with a chance of showers every single day. :rolleyes1

Tropical Storm Danielle:
There is a swirlie out there that we are watching! Right now it has winds of 60 mph. I think it may be named a Hurricane today, but so far the models have it finally looking like it will be a FISH storm! (I love those!)

Today marks the 5 year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina forming as a tropical depression and in about a week our coast was gone - there is a lot of talk about it around here - it was a crazy time for all of us.

You are right on top of this weather thing!!! Glad someone can do this for us!!!

Another BIG Update!

Our Park Hours have CHANGED. I am going to look in a bit and see what will change with our schedule - but I got several emails over the weekend from Tour Guide Mike and it looks like our plans may shift a bit! And Liesa is out on a boat.

Anyway...more on that in a bit...

ETA: I checked the "new" hours and the only real changes to OUR schedule was an additional Fantasmic on our first day, Sept 2nd.

So...Liesa - you could go to the 10:00 show of F! But if you decide to stick with the 8:30 show (which may have changed to 8:30 from 8:00??), then at least it should be less crowded with some of the crowds going to the 10:00 show.

They also added some hours to the MK on two days, but we are not at the MK on those days - so it won't affect us.

So we are good to go! No more changes! :)

Sounds like they won't be such a big issue!! Glad they added another F! I just may do the later one- depending on Brook and Henry, and how they are doing.

Thanks Dan!! It was fun running it-- and even funner getting the medal.

Happy to hear you're enjoying terra firma! :goodvibes

Hi TK!! I am having a great time with family. But it has been a bit of an adjustment on all levels... more on that later.

Welcome home and congratulations on your race! That's wonderful!!! :goodvibes

Thanks, Crissy!! I need to check on your thread to see how your training is going!! It's a great feeling to cross that finish line! :yay:

Hi Liesa! I'm so glad you all arrived (more or less???) safely! And fortunately for us, you didn't leave any bugs behind :)
I enjoyed meeting you and your family very much and I'm looking forward to your report popcorn::

Hey Tim

Heading out the door now, but wanted to tell you I had planned on getting a coffee from Dunkin just now, but mom says it's all the way on the other side of town and NOT on our way to the boat. Next week then.. doughnut- Be Mine!!

Just wanted to say hi, Liesa. I check this thread every day (mine seems to be dying a slow death :confused3). Have fun on the boat.

Well, I'm sure you will find a couple D&D's here in the states! :lmao::lmao:

Have a great time on the boat. When will you be back from boating?

Looks like I've missed a lot in the last few days, so:

Welcome back!! :cool1:

Congrats on 2nd place in the 5K! :cheer2::cheer2:

Awesome family treasure! :thumbsup2 Any disney geek (probably most of us on this thread, and even most on the DIS) would be proud to own something like that!

Have fun on your mini-vacation! :goodvibes

Weather Update:

Danielle is now a hurricane and we have a NEW swirlie!

The new swirlie doesn't have a name yet...but it looks like it will get one in the next day or so...

The 2nd swirlie definitely seems to have a larger chance of hitting land than Danielle, so I will be watching that one.

Sounds like they won't be such a big issue!! Glad they added another F! I just may do the later one- depending on Brook and Henry, and how they are doing.

If we do F! that first night, it will be the early one..whatever time it's at! I need to re-check September hours too.

Thank you for the updates! I haven't checked into the forecast yet, but I'm suspecting you are correct with your low 90s and a chance of rain every day. ;) I sure hope those swirlies stay away from Florida!

Hi Liessa !!! Been a crazy day between watching the Wonded Soldier all day and then working all night !! Just talked to Tracy and we are finalizing our trip !!Can't wait to meet you and whoever else is going !! Tracey and I are only sure of glenbo and jenbear . I am sure we have missed some ????? Any who Sunday at Daily Grills we will be there !!!Can you pm a cell # to reach you at?? I think I gave you mine but if not let me know !!!

Hey Liesa! I know I'm really tardy, but I just wanted to give you a warm welcome back to the states! I've been so busy the past two weeks, I've had hardly any time at all to Dis, so I was only able to read through your chapter links and missed the chit chat (I hate missing the chit chat:sad2:).

Anyway, I just can't believe that after all this time, you are finally back home. And your trip is right around the corner, as is mine! I can't tell you how much I've enjoyed passing the time together!

BTW, you should receive a package in the mail soon...

Can't wait to hear about the houseboat vacation! Are you going to fill us in on that and Germany - or will it wait until the TR?

Hey Liesa!

Welcome back, congrats on the race, LOVE the old Disney stuff from grandma's attic, doing the happy dance for your nearing trip. Not sure what else I missed, but whatever it was, I support it.

Unless it involved shoes and handbags.

Must check out
weather underground and park hours. i just checked them those sneaky devils but they updated again.

I spy also another swirlie still on Africa that may be named FIONA. I hope they all stay out to sea. Maybe this guy :wizard: can help make that happen.

Tracy, I'm sorry you have been going through so much! Hugs and prayers for you! I'm glad you are getting away soon, you deserve it!

Oooh, you sweet lady. I hate that your dealing with all of this, I can't imgaine how tough this has been for you. What can we do? Prayers are a given, but is there anything else we can do for you? Just let us know Tracy.

Thanks so much for the thoughts and prayers. My step-father is doing better. I've been going to all of his doctors' appointments with him because I need to manage all of his medications, etc. But we will get through it!! It was scary when he was sick in Cape Cod though. My mom passed away in February, and my dad passed away on Easter day in 2009. I was petrified at the thought of losing another loved one!

Today was a full day- like every other day has been since we arrived on Terra Firma. It was lovely worshipping with my family, parents, sister and family, cousins, etc.... today at church. Singing songs in English was such a treat!

But even more lovely was getting Andrew settled into his new digs. You can call his man-cave "Bean Counter Meets Soldier Geek". So, what do you get when you pair up an accounting major with a mechanical eng. major??

Frightening on all accounts.

A long time ago some of us were joking about making our student's beds when they moved in; as if it's a mother's entitlement. He did allow me to throw on his sheets, but refused to let us help with the "personal stuff". I get that. I'm just happy that we were invited in at all with the way things had been going up til now.

Now, we aren't allowed to see him at all until Thursday as per his orientation program rules. Which is fine, because tomorrow we all (17 of us) leave for the lake for our houseboat vacay. Tow ropes, tubes, enough food to feed about 3 Platoons, and fishing poles are all packed up and ready to go!! We are excited!!!!

I won't have ANY internet or computer time there at all, so ya'll will have to keep up the good work of enjoying each other's company here. Feel free to keep that banter going!! I'll be back on Thursday to share some sneak preview tidbits of our time. I hear there are some storms a'brewin'!

Until then...

Hi Liesa,

I can't imagine what it was like to set your son up at school - so many emotions must fill your heart!! I hope you are having a beautiful time at the lake with your family! Counting down the days to our meet!! :yay:
