I'm just wondering what's the difference between the two. I know the Grand Villas are newer, but it sounds from recent posts that Cypress Pointe has gone through some renovations which should be completed by January. Does anybody have any information on these resorts? I'm booking through Hotelkingdom and the Cypress Pointe is about $20-$30 less per night. Do both resorts share pools and other common areas?
Thanks for the info.

Here is a link to the CP site which lists the differences between the two.

We just stayed at CPGV over Thanksgiving and were very pleased. We also booked through Hotel Kingdom. We've booked a long weekend in January at CP Phase I. From what I've read here, many of the phase one units have been refurbished. I've requested a refurbished one. I hope that works.

Regarding the pools and common areas: Each phase has its own, but you are allowed to use the facilities of either. My son preferred the Volcano Pool at CP which was just a walk across the street. Mini Golf is at CPGV. The resort is not so large that you can't enjoy both areas.

We stayed at Cypress Pointe last May. We were in a unit that had not been renovated. We thought it was GREAT! It was not luxurious, but clean and roomy. We had no complaints with the resort, especially considering the price though hotelkingdom.com. We are returning in Feb. 05 and again have booked Cypress Pointe. Our 8 year old loved the Volcano pool. I have not stayed at CPGV, but can highly recommend the regular old CP. Have a great trip!

We just stayed in a 3br at Cypress Pointe. My only complaint was we were on the third floor and they do not have elevators! It was a hike up those stairs (36, I counted) after a full day in the parks. I'm not sure if the Grand Villa section has elevators or not.
We loved the inside of the refurbished units. Very spacious and new.

Now I heard that the bathrooms do not have doors on them. That's probably the only thing that's stopping me from booking because it'll be a couple of families so we don't want any awkwardness. Could someone please shed some light on this subject. Also how aggressive is the sales pitch. Thank you.

the whirlpool tub is really part of the master bedroom in most timeshares. (DVC/Sheraton Vistana is the only one that has a door that I have been in so far). Most of the time the shower and toliet are behind doors - in some cases only the toliet (Westgate)

the second bathroom has doors.

does this help?

Hi there,

Does anyone know if the one bedroom units (at both Cypress Pointe and CPGV) have doors on the bathroom?
Thanks so much - so excited to have found such a cheap rate and good reviews!

Stayed in a l br at CPGV two weeks ago. The bathroom area is huge adjoining the bedroom (kind of one big room) starting with tub and closet, vanity with chair and two sinks in vanity, shower with door next o vanity, and toilet with door across from shower Room with toilet is just big enough for toile.

herc.

In our 3 bedrrom lock off, the two master bedrooms had open bathrooms with the toilet tucked back next to the shower. Unfortunately the toilet in our room faced the HUGE mirror which faced the rest of the room. So, if anyone else was in the room there was no bathroom privacy. My sil walked in our room without looking and I was on the pot. She had no idea the bathroom was not separate. I waved to her in the mirror and she ran out mortified. I wish they would have planned that a bit better, but I just locked the bedroom door after that, really no biggie. They could solve this problem by installing a door to the small toilet area.

We stayed at Cypress Pointe (not GV) last year. I disliked the bathroom setup. It's true that the toilet is tucked behind a wall that faces a huge mirror. Anyone entering the room can see you in the mirror. It was a huge pain, locking the bedroom door whenever I had to use the toilet.

On the other hand, it was well worth a stay and there is always the second bathroom which is just a normal door closing bathroom.

We did enjoy the resort, especially the low rate paid on HK.

Good luck,
Jenn

I have stayed at CP and CP Grandvillas. I was happy with both places, but I did find the GV's a little nicer. Both are nice and spacious for families and a great value!
