Cutting in line..

See for me - if you are in a line that can easily be departed and re-entered - it isn't a big deal. So being and leaving and coming back - IMHO is just rude when you have to infringe on someone's personal space to do it.

We wouldn't push our way out of a line anymore then we would push our way in a line. An outside line with no space confinement where you can easily leave and return - fine.

Again - that I don't consider cutting anyway. Sending one person to wait in line and having more people join you closer to the front? Well you were never there to begin with.

When we needed a potty break (happened three times)

1. Dinosaur (spoke to CM at movie part and were given FP to come back)
2. Buzz Lightyear (ling line outside - once we got inside DD 3 had to go now - explained to CM and got FP to return)
3. Jungle Cruise NYE - (waited in 60 minute line - one boat before we loaded DD3 - gotta go now - spoke to CM at loading dock - given FP to return)

So I'm not sure why preferred method is the "excuse me, excuse me, I'm not cutting I swear, we left to use the potty, excuse me, excuse me".

FWIW I've never questioned anyone doing this - they just love to fill you in on why it is okay that they are invading your personal space.

In Augst I saw a mom jump over the railing at TSM into the toy area and cut across weaving through the toys to the glasses cabin to "rejoin" no one. Got we glasses and continued on. No kid with her. It was a bit humorous actually.

I guess that we will have to agree to disagree because I don't find someone saying 'excuse me' to be rude.

So someone could physically shove you out of the way as long as they are saying "excuse me" at the same time... that is a-ok with you?

If I'm standing side by side with my child in TSMM line and you are trying to squeeze by an already cramped space because people are RIGHT behind and RIGHT in front of us and there is no where to go but squish over to the railing so you can then jam your sweaty body through? Trust me just saying excuse me doesn't change what is going on in this case.

**General you... not YOU specifically.

No offense, but it's difficult to have a conversation with you because you keep changing the scenario. Suffice it to say that if space is cramped and they say 'excuse me' in order to get by, I don't find that to be rude. If they knock me down and step on my neck before they say 'excuse me' then they are rude.

Exactly! Common courtesy, not a rule!!

Next time you are in the parks, ask Guest Relations, any manager, any Cast Member, and, for good measure, a random park Guest, if line cutting is against the rules.

Let us know what you find out.

I'm not changing the scenario - you said that saying excuse me = not rude. Perhaps you just didn't mean this as a blanket statement - but that is how you said it.

Personally I believe saying excuse me while actively doing something rude - does not limit the rude factor.

Next time I'm in line, I'm going to go behind, then in front of, then behind, then in front of (repeat multiple times) somebody and see if their head explodes or if they survive the experience. :furious:

Bahahaha.....just kidding. Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Like I have time to do that. I'll be too busy cutting in lines!

Yeah, as if saying "excuse me" somehow compensates for the total lack of consideration and respect they display as they try to cut in front of you...

It goes back to the definition of 'cutting'. Some people think that returning to your party in line is rude, others don't.

There is just one moon and one golden sun
And a smile means friendship to everyone.
Though the mountains divide
And the oceans are wide....:dance3:

EXACTLY! This is the reason I stated earlier that I'm going to agree to disagree. It seems like people are so intent on bringing up points that really don't have anything to do with what the definition of actual cutting is and how we each individually feel about it. There's nothing wrong with a debate as long as it can be handled in an adult manner.

Ever heard the phrase "can't see the forest for the trees"?

Ok, I'm going to the park right now and I'm going to cut in line on every ride and I'm going to do this for hours. This is very important to figure out and it must be done for the sake of research. I'll also try to do little side studies of eating other people's food and drink off their plates and wearing their jackets. I'll report back immediately once the park closes or once I am released from Goofy jail.

Perhaps we need two lines.....one for those that don't mind people moving on past and one for those of us that understand the meaning of take your turn.

A couple family members that need to catch up to the rest of the family/party.....I can live with that and I think that most folks can, but just imagine if everyone in line in front of you is holding spots for 3 or 4 or 5 MORE people?? The whole system would break down. And sadly there are many that try and do take advantage of the system unless someone literally puts their foot (or arm) down.

I understand folks don't want to get upset on their vacations and let others get them down, but collectively that is what perpetrates the problem, no one saying no.

Way to take one for the team! :thumbsup2

Nah. Success in line cutting requires being surrounded by docile line cutter enablers.
