Cutting in line..

For those that keep saying no rule has been broken - are you suggesting that no one wait in line and there be a free for all and only the fittest make it to the front. Otherwise, your comment is really quite odd. The reason there are queues is that this is a line and society dictates that the people stand in the line in order to wait their turn. Saying there is no rule against it encourages others to cut and that would lead to anarchy. I am sorry but just because there is no actual rule against it does not make it right.

At DLR you see 2 incidents a day on average of true cutting.

Is that your experience? I've been going to DLR multiple times a year my entire life, and I have never seen "true" cutting. Not once.

At HKDL they may have it in writing, but when I was there, if you don't fill in every conceivable space in front of you, people will fill it in for you. I really had to adjust my personal space boundaries to not get shoved out of my place in line.

Yeah, interesting. I've done a lot of research on the Internet, and can't find any US Disney prohibition about cutting. Hong Kong Disneyland does prohibit it in writing.

Though Disney can pretty much ask anyone to leave for any reason. I suspect if it was so blatant you caused a disturbance Disney might intervene. If cutting is rare, then turning a blind eye may reduce confrontations of the he said-she said variety.

Question is - is cutting degrading guest experience enough they should explicitly tell their guests not to do it? Instead of just asking people to be courteous? At WDW I have never seen it stand out. At DLR you see 2 incidents a day on average of true cutting.

We go to disneyland every two weeks. I have only seen one instance of true line cutting in the past 6 months.

Same here... Have never once seen line cutting at DL.....though maybe my scary NY attitude scares those westcoasters from even trying!

Not true. On our last day at WDW we planned to spend the morning at Hollywood Studios and then head to Epcot to ride Soarin. We arrived at Epcot at noon and all of the fastpasses were gone. We waited in line for an hour and a half before we got to ride and then headed to the airport.

And i bet Epcot that day had EMH...and if you knew that...you would have known what it would have been like. And, should have went to Epcot first.
Its easy to see which parks have what going on that day...We have done the same....goto a park..ride a few rides...then MCO. But, you gotta pick a park that is least busy for that day of week...there is alot of info on the web that tels you that weeks out. I just saying....planning down to the bone can remedy all the long line waiting. I hate to see you had to wait so long...but i hope the trip went well

I just think trying to skip ahead in line is too much work and anxiety. I was in line at TSM and had to do bathroom break with my daughter, and I was terrified when I saw all the people we had to pass to catch up to our family. I was not a fun experience. And, I guess I'm intimidated by stink eye!

I dont understand the people who allow cutting to happen and just let it go. For the amount of $$ i spend on these vacations and the amount of time we all spend standing in line, it is unacceptable to allow this. Every time it happens to me or near me, I give a warning in a polite friendly tone that cutting is NOT an option, if that is ignored, i will move back to MY spot in line in front of them. Only once has is escalated beyond that point and i guarantee those cutters will NEVER do that again!!! 99% of people will back down and move to the back of the line if you stand your ground. If you say nothing and stare at the ground, they will just do it more and more. Put a stop to it!!!

I understand youngsters that can't wait to do their "business," and have no problem letting families get back together, but people can generally tell who is lying or not. Soarin' is one of the worst cues for cutters... my family and I generally form a barrier and don't let people cross. Lots of families send little kids up ahead, and then they say that they need to join their children. This is not acceptable. I also don't enjoy when tour groups pull similar maneuvers!

I'll tell you why I'm inclined to 'just let it happen'.

First, I'm at the park to enjoy my time. I'm not the line monitor. I refuse to attempt to judge whether someone is 'cutting' or simply returning to their group.

Second, I'm not going to get stressed about the miniscule delay that I might have to endure if the person truly is cutting.

Third, I'm in the line with my small children. Not only do I prefer not to dampen their fun by Daddy getting into it with some stranger, the behavior that you describe is not something that I want them to model.

Only once has is escalated beyond that point and i guarantee those cutters will NEVER do that again!!! 99% of people will back down and move to the back of the line if you stand your ground.

I'm not sure exactly what you are trying to say here, but the issues surrounding that 1% is yet another good reason not to take the actions that you are promoting.

We actually had a CM at Disneyland tell us that it was legal if they were meeting up with family and friends. She stated that most of the time it was due to having to go to the restroom but even if they just happened by and saw them half way through the line and wanted to get with them it was legal for them to do so. We tried the line block thing but they just hopped over.

So I guess its best just to look the other way and let the selfish people go.

I'm not a CM so I don't know, but I'd hope so! Just in case they needed a "rule" as a back up to stop someone from doing this!
