Custom Cakes

I'm not sure if this is the place to post this question... But my family is taking a trip to Disney next month to celebrate my mom's 50th birthday. The whole trip is on my parents so my boyfriend and I are trying to plan some nice little surprises for her on the trip. One thing I really wanted to do is have a specialty cake made and delivered to dinner one night. Is this possible? Can you incorporate some of the wedding cake elements (like if we wanted a chocolate mousse filling, for example)? Are there lots of decorating options and if so, is there a place I can look at them online? I know you can get a pretty basic cake delivered but I was looking for something a little more customized. Lastly, who could I call about this? I tried the cake hotline but honestly the woman I talked to seemed very new and confused. Should I be calling someone else?

Go to the Restaurants thread and there is a sticky at the top of custom cakes DISers have gotten, where they got them and the prices.

Some are pretty pricey, but others are reasonable - they all look pretty amazing!!

I am not sure if this is the number that you called 1-407-827-2253 but they helped us order a speciality cake. There were so many options to choose from and they delivered it for desert for us at the resturant we gave them.
It was a nice surprise for my sister.

Call the cake hotline back and talk to someone different. Just tell them what you want and they will give suggestions. The first time I called for DS's BD the girl was not very helpful. The second one I talked to was great. She aked what his favorite characters were and she went from there. The cake turned out great. It was a Cars theme and they put 2 light up cars, the ones from the special drinks and mickey balloons all over. I wish I had the pictures on here to show you. Maybe tonight I'll try to get it to work.
