I am going to apply to Fall Advantage 2011 custodial. Does anyone know some custodial specific questions they ask? Also, I haven't heard alot about custodial in the resorts, does anyone know what types of things you do as custodial in the resorts? Do you work inside and outside? How much is cleaned by custodial versus housekeeping? How does custodial in the resorts differ from in the parks?

I got accepted into Spring 2011 Custodial and leave for Florida in about two weeks. I can tell you some of the things they asked me in the interview. First off, I've had previous experience working custodial so they asked me about the types of tasks that I do at the custodial job that I have. Then they asked me what types of tasks I would see myself doing if I was working Custodial at Disney. They asked me a hypothetical type of question, it went something like "If you walked into a restaurant or store that was dirty, how would you feel and what would you do?" I was also asked if I was allergic to latex.

I've heard that Custodial is a great role to have at Disney, it's very independent and lots of walking around with Guest interaction. I can let you know more about it in these next few weeks once I find out my location and the kinds of things I will be doing!

Thanks for the info! Thats a questions I havent heard yet. Congrats on getting accepted, let us know how it goes!

Oh it is very independent! I loved the freedom and guest interaction that came with the role

I am a huge people person. I have heard that custodial has the most guest interaction. That's great. Like I heard one cp said that they would bring golf balls and let kids play like a putt-putt type game with their brooms. Sounds like the most fun of the cp roles to me...yes it even sounds more fun to me than performer. lol The freedom must be great too. To be mobile and not have to stay in one small location like in attractions and other roles would be really nice. The independence is a big plus too.

i did custodial at World Showcase and it was really fun. you get to help people find places and talk to them. i hear from a lot of my other friends that work elsewhere that they wish they could move around as freely as we did since people like merchandise can only move to a new location every couple of hours in between breaks if they're lucky.

Wow, this thread really makes me more open to the idea of custodial! At first I thought, "ew, no way", but now it sounds really ideal for me. I LOVE walking (especially at Disney :wizard:), and I'd like to have guest interaction as well. I also love independence.

I have a few questions about the position as well.

Do you basically just walk around and clean stuff? Exactly what kind of cleaning? Like sweeping streets, picking up trash, and cleaning bathrooms?

What didn't you like about the position?

Can you walk like anywhere in the park that you're in? And are you assigned just one park, or do you move around?

What are the hours like?

You sweep, and pick up trash, mostly sweeping and walking around though. You will have to clean bathrooms, the ones in your designated area.

You can't walk anywhere in the park, custodials are assigned an area (fantasy land) for example, and they can walk all around that area as much as they want. It's usually a large area, so you won't get bored and I don't think it's always the same area. Two of the people i hung out with most on my last program were Custodial and they both loved their jobs.:thumbsup2

Hey, thank you!

Custodial is sounding more and more appealing to me. The independence and guest interaction are the major selling points. And I could deal with the icky stuff like cleaning bathrooms, I've had to share one with a younger brother, so how bad can it be?

This role sounds the best out of all of the ones I've considered so far. I'm super excited now! :dance3:

You only clean restrooms if you are assigned to clean restrooms that day... on your schedule you are either "streets" which is walk around sweep do trash once every hour or so... and then restrooms which is you get like 2 possibly 3 restrooms and you just go back and fourth checking to see if they are stocked and clean... if it is stocked and decently clean you go walk around until its time to check the next restroom... piece of cake

You wont ever do both restrooms and streets at the same time... its one or the other

Oh, and I did a search for custodial, and saw that thread that you made a while back about it--it was really helpful.

I'm pretty sure custodial is my number one choice now. I just hope I get one of the parks (especially EPCOT, MK, or AK) rather than downtown disney.
