Curious if anyone is familiar with this procedure?

Yes, I recall now that my lengthy and uncomfortable procedure did not involve any numbing ahead of time or during it --which I am sure is why the radiologist kept apologizing to me. If I ever need this procedure again, I would insist on it.

Yes, it's going to be one of the first things I ask about.

I didn't have that procedure but I did have them replace a disc in my neck through the front of my neck and that didn't hurt at all. I was knocked out at the time so that bit of information is probably useless. However, if I were to get what you are talking about I would be highly numb either with their process or a fairly good dose of Jack Daniels.

Good luck. I've had many done. I ended up having to have my thyroid removed this fall because the nodules were way too big.

It wasn't pleasant but it wasn't the worst pain or discomfort I've had during a test. It's hard to do but hold as still as possible. I agree about the local anesthetic.

It's going to be done in a hospital setting so I'll be amazed if they don't offer the local. I can't imagine what the reason would be if they don't. I'm certainly planning on asking about it for sure.

Thanks again to all of you who replied with helpful info and thoughts. I had the procedure earlier today and everything went well. There was numbing involved and it worked perfectly. More uncomfortable from the pushing and pressure than any type of needle stick. Now I wait for the results and go from there.
