Curiosity about face character protocol

Just a point of curiosity raised while at Disney World recently: does anybody know how a face character is trained to react to a person kissing or attempting to kiss them?

Thanks in advance for any help (especially if you prove me right).

This is a good question that I have not seen answered. I can tell you that I am adult that has hugged Ariel, and has also kissed Cinderella's hand. I'd never try to actually kiss a face character, but I am guessing those two instances were proper, as there was no negative reaction.

They are to maintain safe boundaries, yet remain in character.

It also depends on how old the person is. They may be more forgiving if a 3 year old is doing it than if a 30 year old is doing it.

On one trip, I couldn't figure out why all the kids had red lipstick on their faces until we came upon Snow White.

And finally my scrapbook Layout...To this day my DD still talks about how nice Snow White was.

Oh I wish I could download it... My then baby son was bald as a cueball. And Sleeping beauty planted a great big kiss on him! And he LOVED it! So I guess they can kiss you- you can't kiss them?:confused3

The promotional DVD which I just looked at last night shows a child kissing Mickey Mouse. I don't know that it would be right for an adult ... but kids that actually want to kiss them I guess are ok if WDW allows it. But I guess it would feel like kissing a plastiic doll?

Edited:
WHOOPS! I misread this -- I am thinking the characters like Mickey Mouse!!! I think only children should be kissing the face characters for sure but I don't know what WDW protocol is. But if DH ever gets near Cinderella ... oh no no no! :)

I don't know, but every time we saw any of the Princesses and mary Poppins DS had red lipstick marks all over the place.

During the Princess Breakfast at Norway, it was funny, because as soon as one Princess saw that the others kissed him, she just had to also.

Ah, that's a really good question.. I always wondered that too..

As a kid going to Disney in the early 90's - the thing then was to kiss non-face characters on the nose (don't ask why, but everywhere those years you saw kids kissing those noses) and I did too, no fear of germs at the tender age of 10!

Not sure about face characters, but I'm sure they would find a polite way to decline a kiss ;)

I never thought about kissing any characters. I admit though I have hugged a few. Would be cute to have lip stick kiss on DDs cheek. Knowing her though she might be embarassed and wipe it off.

My DD has been known to kiss a character, mainly the boys...Donald, chip and dale, mickey, goofy, pluto and stitch. Probley a good thing she was too shy around Prince Charming.

My DD was 2 when Snow White kissed her... for weeks after we couldn't kiss her on that cheek because that was her "snow white" cheek. We had to kiss the other cheek. It was adorable.
