Curbside vs Inside check in-Airport

What is the difference? What can you do inside that can't be done outside? Usually I notice there's never a line outside, why is that?

I like to check my bags indoors because I want to see my bag go on the belt. When I've seen people checking in outdoors I've seen bags just gathered around the workers.....I trust myself to get my bag where it needs to be.

We usually always use the curbside. The difference is they work for the airport and work for tips, where the people inside work for specific airlines from what I understand. At MCO, the inside line for Southwest has always been at least half an hour if not longer. For a $10 tip, curbside will take our bags and print our boarding passes and with a wait that has never been more than a few minutes. My time and frustration of waiting in line is worth it.

There is also often a small fee, per bag, for curbside checking.

This is true for a lot of airlines. I paid $10 in San Diego for American Airlines curbside check in. Was it worth it? Heck yes! The east coast was a MESS with delays and the line inside was about 2.5 hours long. I only had 2 hours...I checked my bag, paid my $10, gave the porter $5 more (so my bag actually made it on the flight!!) and went straight though to Global Entry. I even had time for a bloody mary and some breakfast! I always tip $5 a bag and my bags always make it. My friend/business partner tips $2 a bag and there have been quite a few times her bags do not make it, but mine do...and we are on the same flight and check in at the same time.

Also, I have been 5-10 pounds over weight and they have let me slide before without making me pay the over weight fees since they work for the airport (and TIPS!!!) and not the airline. Always use skycaps when in doubt.

With the exception of Southwest, all airlines have baggage fees. There is no extra charge for curbside. A tip is customary, but not mandatory. I highly suggest doing so if you want your bags to make your flight. ;)
I always do curbside. I never understand why people stand in that line inside. I just assume they are trying to make changes or something not luggage related.

I just read an article about luggage being lost. The article stated that you should always bring your bags inside, you are more likely to have it arrive at your destination.
