CS Restuarants to avoid if on a GF diet

Are there any counter service restaurants that I should avoid? Restaurants that may not have much to accommodate with? One that comes to mind is Earl of Sandwich. I read that they bake their own fresh bread. It would be amazing if they baked their own fresh gf bread as well, but I highly doubt that

Would love to hear your thoughts! (and out of curiousity, does anyone know if Earl of Sandwich offers GF sandwiches?)

Just back on Saturday. This was my first time since being diagnosed with celiac. I did eat at Earl of Sandwich. Had a yummy salad with a vinegarette dressing. If you don't eat salads this is not the place to be gluten free. I'd avoid Beaches and Cream unless you're just going for the ice cream.
We ate at Columbia Harbor House, yum. Gluten free chicken tenders and baked fries. Flame Tree was delicious, as was the food in the Land.
It is so easy to eat there and not worry.

Yeah i would avoid Earl of Sandwich we have emailed them and they have no gluten free bread or anything. Anywhere else in the World should be safe with plenty of options. I would actually recommend going to Beaches & Cream however...We went on our most recent trip (in June) and they made GF hamburgers with no problems. Then for dessert we got a specially made gluten free kitchen sink! The chef went to places all around the yacht and beach club to collect gf goodies to put in it! It was spectacular and a great way to finish off the vacation.

We are local and eat at Earl of Sandwich all the time. That is the only place at DTD we have had a good experience at. Salads are often the most common GF item at WDW.

One of our worse experiences was at Columbia house(on more than one occasion). We have had better luck next door at the fruit stand and baked potato cart.

Cosmic Rays has been a little challenging this summer. I think the change in the food has some CM's confused. I had to explain dairy free is not the same as GF. The "supervisor" did not seem to get it-so I just didn't eat.

It's funny how experiences change from place to place. Last Tuesday Beaches and Cream said there was no gluten free bread but they could put the burger on a plate. The ice cream sundae was gluten free. Columbia Harbor House was great for me. The manager couldn't have been better and the food was yummy. I guess it's hit or miss, maybe it depends on the managers

I'll never go back to Beaches & Cream. The one time we went there, just to the take-out counter, we had a near disaster. It's a good thing I know that the dairy free ice cream doesn't hav little black specks of vanilla bean like the regular ice cream does or both DD14 and I would have been sick the whole flight home (we went on our departure day).

I've had only positive experiences at CHH but I am very cautious when in there because I know of livndisney's experiences. I think that there's one manager who seems to have a disregard for allergies but I've been lucky not to encounter him. It's kind of like at Crystal Palace; there's one chef who doesn't seem to care and has put several of us who've posted on this board in danger (once again, it's a good think I know what questions to ask and understand our list of allergies) but there are many more who've posted on this board who consider CP to be must do every trip. There are a few places that are like this. I consider the Wave also to be one of those. I hear there are some wonderful chefs there but the one we had ended up causing DD14 to spend the night throwing up and I've since learned that the chef I described has been guilty of being irresponsible with allergies in the past. These are the exceptions when it comes to WDW chefs but they do exist and for the most part they're only one of many chefs you could encounter at the restaurants at which they work.

I actually had a good experience at Beaches n' Cream, but I could imagine with the hustle and bustle there how something could get missed, so I would definitely be cautious.

I've had a dreadful time at Pinocchio's. They basically told me there was absolutely nothing for me (gluten and dairy free).

I stick with Cosmic Ray's, CHH, the baked potato cart or turkey legs for CS at MK. I hear Pecos Bill's is also good but we haven't tried them.

Yeah Pinocchio's = yuck! I can't believe in Fantasyland that they can't have something a little better! Let's hope Gaston's will be more accommodating when it opens.

Ya know, I haven't tried Pecos Bill's in ages. I was just thinking a couple of weeks ago when we passed it that I should give it a try; they've changed the menu a bit. Hmmm....reminds me to try it soon!

Our experiences have been like yours..in fact at Beaches and Cream they acted like they had never heard of Gluten Free and were almost rude about it. We did end up sending an email about it in hopes they got some retraining.

I have read livindisney's posts on Columbia Harbor House and she has had terrible experiences there but it is my husband's favorite spot and we drive over from our condo just for a meal (I wish there was something there I liked as well!). We have probably eaten GF there 20 times with the only negative being the occasional long wait.
