Cruisin' June 24, 2007 -- Wonder

Okay, I need some girls around age 11. Sorry, boys won't do, she is so anti boy right now, which is fine by us! We hope that lasts for a long long time, he-he.

We are going on this cruise for my in-laws' 40th wedding anniversary so it will be DH's whole family. My in-laws' best friends are also celebrating their 40th and will be their with their entire family. So in our group we have two girls who are 11 and 13. princess: princess:

DH and I are a bit spoiled because our last two Disney cruises we were in cat 6 cabins with verandahs (in large part so we could sit outside while the children napped). So being in an inside cabin will be a bit of an adjustment (though I am hoping we will be in the cabin for very little time! :cool1: )

Okay, I just have a few questions:rotfl:

First off, we are not planning any extravagent outings while in ports. But Just in case, is there one that is a not miss excursion? Otherwise we just plan on shopping and beaching. I heard something about being able to go to Atlantis to look around but the beaches are private and for guests only?

Another, when we booked the guy said if we want we can get passports and he recommended. Who is getting passports? I don't plan on it getting one. DH informed me the birth certificates must have a raised seal and must be original. I almost slapped him in the face, because he forgot that last time we went on a Disney cruise I had to order 2 of our cerfiticates and have them overnight to us! He forgot what agony I went thru on that, and he forgot how I was constantly checking to make sure I didn't loose any documents. So I just said "DUHHHH!"

While in Nausau DH and I are planning on just taking in the sights and walking around the straw market and shops and maybe go to the pirate museum. We had talked about going to Atlantis but didn't want to pay for a day room at Atlantis or at the resort across the street (which allows you access to Atlantis ammenities). And in Castaway Cay we are looking forward to relaxing and playing on the beach!
DisneyJam = :drinking1 JenLynn = :beach: DD = :Pinkbounc DS = :bounce:

I just sent my passport off to be renewed about a month ago and I am nervous about it coming back in time for the cruise. :worried: Due to the new requirement for international air traffic passengers to have passsports, there has apparently been a "rush" on the passport departments. The rest of my family has passports and I am just relieved to know that if (worse case) my passport doesn't come in time, I will still be able to cruise. :boat:

Welcome Sue!!!!!! This is getting so exciting! Our DD is extremely social and loves to meet other girls. We also have early seating and are also in a cat 11 stateroom. What sort of business is your DH starting? WOW, you must be really busy right now!

OK, I also just have to celebrate a bit (poor DisneyJam is tired of hearing this already, but I am just so happy!). I am currently a 4th grade teacher but am trying to get a transfer to the middle school level teaching reading or social studies. I needed to take a national test to get my middle school reading endoresment and I got the report today ..... and I passed!!!! :yay: So now that is one less thing to worry about! Just keeping my fingers crossed to hear something soon about my transfer (hoping to hear before our cruise!!!)

Have a wonderful weekend and Easter everyone!

Congrats on the test! I hope the news on the transfer comes through soon.

I've finally decided on designs for shirts for the WDW part, so I'm making a little bit or progress, but I need to get started on everything else for the trip.

I hope everyone who celebrates Easter had a great holiday!

Last time we were in Nassau, JenLynn and kids actually just stayed on the ship. I ran in to town just long enough to grab some cuban cigars. I have been to Nassua a few times and it's nice to see some sites, but nothing that I know of is a must see. Atlantis sounds like a cool place and I beleive Marci is headed there.

As JenLynn said, we all have passports. Even if they are not required for cruise travel, there was a post I read some where that brought up an interesting point. If you for some reason had to fly home from Nassua (ie emergency), a passport would be required to fly into the US, so it's probably a good idea to have one.

Ragnrok - Yay!! 1 day more!! I haven't done either of those let alone both on the same day. I would think you have time for both, but you can snorkle at your own leisure around the main swim area, so I am not sure you need to take the snorkel tour, but I am not sure where they take you on that tour. It might be a nicer area.

Last time we went on a cruise, DH bought some cuban cigars too. There is just no way we could get passports before the cruise. So hopefully nothing will happen while we are on the islands so we won't have to fly home. :scared1:

I added a siggy line. How does it look?

Well, I booked Palo, snorkling and a couples massage :cloud9:

However, I couldn't book parasailing, does anyone know if you have to do that on board, or when you get to Castaway Cay?

Sue -- your signature looks great. I took mine out a while ago as I was tired of the same old one and haven't had any inspiration to do a new one.

We love to go over to Atlantis -- it's a really neat place, and the last time we took the kids through the Dig -- they loved it as well! This will be our first time getting a room so that we can use the pools/slides.

I do hear that a lot of people just prefer to stay on the ship. The only other thing besides Atlantis that I hear a lot about is the Dolphin Excursion. A large group from my company went on it when I took the group on a cruise a few years ago. They loved it.

My family has had passports for years...IMO it's just easier then keeping up with original birth certificates.

Ragnrok23 -- Sorry -- I don't know about booking parasailing. I do like to parasail, but haven't at Castaway Cay. You might call the DCL cruise desk to ask.

Gratz Ragnrok on your ressies!! I am not sure why you couldn't book the parasailing, unless it is already sold out.

Love the sig line Sue!! It's kinda funny... One of our DDs good friends is name Kaitlyn and she has a yonger sister named Meagan.

I am on a conference call at the moment, so I will check in again soon

Is everyone up for another round of Name That Tune????

There's a big umbrella casting shade over a empty chair
Palm trees are a-growing and a warm breezes a blowing
I picture myself sitting there

Can you name that tune in 3 lines???? :music:

(Hmmm, think marci is going to get it again???? She and I certainly do seem to have similar taste in music!! :thumbsup2 )

That is funny about the names, but I actually know of two other families with Daughters the same names as mine. Must be an irish thing. Actually I didn't know the two other families till after my girls were a little older. When I was pregnant with my youngest we couldn't think of a girls name till we went thru a book. I wanted something either that belonged in the family, similar to Megan's name, or irish. When we came across Kaitlyn that suited the criterias! Kaitlyn is irish just like Megan's name and it is similar (somewhat) to my Mom's name. So we lucked out (the luck of the Irish, )

I think we will just walk around Nassau and go to a beach. Take in the scenery and have a tropical drink or two (okay, where is the smiley guy with the drink?)

Blake Shelton -- I think it's called Some Beach? That one was much harder, although in a genre I do listen to....I am from Texas, afterall!

Is anyone signed up for Main dining and requesting the 6 p.m. rotation?

Whoo Hoo Irish family on board! But it's a bit odd you couldn't find this... :drinking1 :drinking1 :drinking1 :rotfl2:

It's actually in the "more" list. We are not Irish, but I do play one on March 17th

Marci - we are Main dining, but I don't think we are requesting a specific rotation. We are a pretty large group, so it may be just a bit difficult to pull that off.

We decided on the 6pm rotation again. The only thing we found a hard time with it last time, was that we had alot planned, and was always about 10-15 min. late. But we don't have as much planned this time. We normally eat at that time at home anyways. Then we could either go to the show without the kids being hungry, or go for some after dinner swim in the pool. Last time though, the one thing I missed out on by eating early was the sunsets. But since it will be summer this time, hopefully we can catch them after dinner.

HI all! Well I have had an exciting two days ... DisneyJam and I went out to dinner on Thursday night (our usual "date night") and got suddenly and violently ill shortly after dinner. Looks like a mild food poisoning that has kept me in bed for the past two days. Oh what fun!!

Sue, I feel the same way you do about dinner timing on the cruise. We always go with early seating because it seems to make sense in terms of seeing the shows after dinner. Our normal dinner hour from home falls in the middle of the two seatings so that could go either way. The biggest problem I have is trying to rush in after our sun-filled day to get everyone showered and ready to be at dinner on time. We could definitely use a bit more time then.

TOnight, DD has her last gymnastics meet before the state meets, so she and I will be there all evening. DisneyJam has decided that she does better when he is not there so he and DS are going to spend some father-son time together instead of attending the meet. Keep your fingers crossed for us that DD does well!

Happy Weekend Everyone!
(Did I hear that they are forecasting snow for mid-atlantic region on Sunday? )

Today we booked our airline tickets. Man, are we lucky to beable to get things booked so late in the game :cool1:

We are flying in on June 21st. A day before our visit to Vero Beach. The reason is because it will take us all day to get to Orlando. We are flying out of an airport that is an hour and a half away. The one closest to us doesn't have United fly into it, and we are using our points on United. So we have to go to the other airport. Then we have to change planes in another city with about a 2 hour lay over. So we are flying in the night before our Vero Beach visit, so we can soak up as much fun at Vero Beach as we can without having our travel plans use up the day.

Oh and I found out we are staying 2 nights at Vero Beach  I am so excited!!!!!

What time is everyone planning on getting to the Disney Cruise Line terminal? We'll get there probably around 10:30 or 11. It seems like the day will never get here!

On no! I hope you are feeling better! That really stinks!

I hope your DD did well this weekend! My DS11 had a select baseball tournament about an hour from home. We had windchills in the 30s on Saturday, and had to put on sunscreen yesterday! This crazy weather....

Sue

That is great news!

We will probably be getting to the terminal around 11. I need to get my act together and finish up some of our plans for the parks.

Have a great Monday!

I recieved our letter of confirmation for the cruise and our stay at Vero Beach from Disney Vacation Club. I am so excited:woohoo: and I can barely stand it:cool1:

Who has not yet recieved their documents (boarding passes, luggage tags, ect).? Obviously I didn't recieve mine yet and I hope it comes before we move!:scared1: Of course we would have our mail forward, still that adds on an extra day or so of delivery. If I don't recive them by mid May I will call someone and see where they are.

In the meantime at least I can make some online reservations for things now. First off will be the massage on the beach on Castaway Cay!

2 months and 8 more days till the cruise!!!!! :beach:

Sue

It's freezing in MD! :confused3 What is going on with this weather??

We plan to get to the terminal pretty early maybe around 10am. This is about the time we got there last time. I know they changed the procedures a bit so it's probably not that big a deal to get there early, but we really don't have anything else to do Sat morning.

We havn't recieved out docs yet. I thought I read on the DCL board that they don't come till a couple weeks before the depart date now. Anyone know if that's true?

Oh get this... Red cross has been bugging me to donate blood again over the past few weeks. I finally went today just to be told I couldn't donate. Apparently, our trip to Cancun last July flags me for possible exposure to Malaria. Nice huh? I wonder what a trip to the Bahamas is going to flag me for.
