Cruisin' and the Laundry

Well, this photo was actually of a list from a previous cruise, but I brought one home from our recent cruise and it's the same. So, the prices were current as of 2 months ago.

Thanks so much.

Is this a recent price list? I may just budget for this and treat ourselves! The place we are planning to stay pre-cruise has a washer/dryer in each apartment, but we will only be vacationing for four days before we get onboard, so we won't have a huge load. Maybe we can get all the essentials done on the last night before we check out and have the ship do pants and tops.

I would definitely say have the ship do it. So much easier and frees up so much time and stress.

Yeah -- the prices are better than I thought if I want to save all the hassle and time!

How do you go about sending your laundry out? Obviously, bag it up and fill out the form...but then does the stateroom host take it? Do you need to speak to them about it, or do they just know to take it? (For example, in WDW the Mousekeepers don't take tips unless they are painfully, obviously labeled as being for them...)

Just fill the bag, with the form and leave it on the bed. That worked for us.

I called guest services and they sent the stateroom host to pick up our dry cleaning.

Thanks!! How long does it take to get them back?
At the top of the laundry slip it says (check one box):

/ / Regular service, returned by 5:30 next day
/ / Same day service. Add 50% to dry cleaning surcharge. Call Guest Services for pickup before 9:00 am returned by 5:30 pm
/ / Express service. Add 100% express cleaning surcharge. Call Guest Services for pickup, returned in 3 hours.

I scanned in the one from May I had just last night and you are right - it is exactly the same. Wish I'd noticed your pic first! :)

Hi - we left ours tied to the handrail outside the room, which is what the stateroom host told us to do, about 4 or 5pm on embarkation day and had it back in plenty of time the following day in time for formal night using the regular service quoted above (we came back about 4pm and they were in our room). We had 3 men's shirts pressed beautifully for $5.25 total which I thought was a bargain based on what I would pay at the dry cleaners

If we get our luggage quickly, I take out the items to be pressed, put them in the supplied laundry bag which was on top of the safe,
fill out the form, and hand the laundry bag on our fish extender before we go to the muster drill. They are always returned by 4PM
the next night which is normally formal night on longer cruises.

Okay, so I checked out this link http://disneycruiselineblog.com/2013/01/onboard-self-and-full-service-laundry-and-dry-cleaning/

Can someone tell me what laundry room that first picture is of? I don't ever remember any of the laundry rooms on Decks 6 or 7 looking that big. I am assuming it is from one of the new ships, because it's huge!

According to the photo label, it is the Fantasy deck 9 foward laundry room, which is near stateroom 9500. That is the laundry room we used on our last cruise, but on the Dream. It looks the same, so I am pretty sure the label is accurate.

If Disney wanted more money out of me (and you know they do), I would want a "basic" laundry service -- bag of clothes, toss in washer on cold, put it in the dryer when done, bring it back to my room, dump it on the bed. $10 per load. I would fold it myself. Done. Something the cabin attendant could take care of (do I really need my room cleaned twice per day?)

Or, at the very least, using the on board phone, link it to wireless from the washers and dryers. Get a message when a washer/dryer is free. Reminder when load is five minutes from completion.

I would like an "all you can use" flat rate... say $30 and you can use the washers and dryers as much as you like. For us every wash requires at least two full cycles, and the dryers sometimes need a second cycle as well (since they ust don't work well). So such an option would be very useful to us, if they had it.
