Cruise's (Chris) Accountability/Sap Journal :) (comments welcome)

12/3/05

Got on the scale this morning and I am down another 1.5 pounds!!!! Even after eating pizza and a couple of Reese's peanut butter bells and some french silk pie I still had a loss. I was very excited!!!!! So that now puts me at 48 pounds. I'm only 2 pounds from my 50 pound goal!!!!! And only 19 from my next goal - hitting my half way point by my birthday at the end of February.

I thought about this very much last night (as I was trying to fall asleep and couldn't because I was worried that the girls weren't having a good time - even though they were) and I needed to set the goal for my half off weight. I think that is a reasonable goal and if I don't make it, that's okay but I'm really going to try hard.

Today is going to consist of getting the girls up soon and getting them home, come back and start doing inside Christmas decorating and do some holiday baking - fudge, covered pretzels with sprinkles, peanut butter balls covered in almond bark, and pecan sandie balls. I've had a request from work that I bring in my goodies that I make every year so I decided to go ahead and try and do this without nibbling - don't think that will be possible but I'll try :)

Have a good day everyone and I'll get back to journals tonight.
Keep on

At the rate you are going you will have your 50# clippie before you visit the Mouse.

We used to have all the homade stuff at Xmas also. It was my father's tradition to make us assorted kinds of fudge, popcorn balls and peanut brittle. Mom would handle the cookies. This will be our second Xmas since his passing. Lynne decided to start a new tradition, go to WDW the week before Christmas and take my mom along. We would like to stay through Xmas day but Mom wants to be home so we make our plans so she will go with us.

I admire your determination to stick with your goals. I have been staying pretty steady since joining WISH in February. Maybe with a little more effort, I will start losing.

Here is some :wizard: :wizard: to help you through making all the goodies without too much sampling. You know the rule is you have to at least taste everything before sharing to make sure it is okay. :rotfl: :rotfl:

Have a great weekend with your daughter.

Chris:

Congrats on another 2 lbs down. That is terrific even with the temptation in the house. I don't know if I could take on the goodie making and stay away from the sweets.

Thanks for stopping be my journal. It really helps to pop in when I have some time away from my studies and see some encouraging words.

I see you have a WDW trip coming up, how exciting. We snuck in just before Thanksgiving the first time we went and got to watch the holiday decorations materialize right before our eyes. It was so magical. I'm sure you'll have that 50 lbs clippie before you go and all the walking will keep any from creeping back on.

Wow, you are really doing well lately! I agree that you will probably have that new clippie in time for your trip. WOW!! :cool1:

hope you got through the sleepover okay :) your post made me think back to my sleepovers--we used to have so much fun!!!!
have a great week!

12/4/05

Well I didn't get to journals like I wanted to last night. I was up until 11pm finishing decorating the house and I'm still not done. Plus I was making goodies still last night too.

Eating was not the best yesterday but I managed to lose another .5 pounds. I did nibble but not a lot.

I did get in 60 minutes of exercise over the last couple of days - 30 minutes yesterday and 30 minutes this morning both due to having to shovel the driveway. And it was intense shoveling because I made it intense so I would burn some calories. It actually felt great to be able to shovel because I wasn't constantly looking up at how much I had left to do - I was looking at what I had done without becoming tired and out of breath!!!!!   To me that is a major accomplishment. Especially since we got about 2-3 inches last night and dh is out of town so he can't do it.

Off to another busy day. This whole week is going to be this way. And Disney needs to come soon because my dad is starting to drive me nuts!!!! He's calling daily now - "when are we going", "how many more days"... Now don't get me wrong. I'm so very excited for him because he is so excited to be going with us but he's driving me nuts!!!!!!! I'm excited too but I have so much to do before we go. It's just funny!

Have a great day everyone. Got more baking to do, run dd to school, then to church for her youth council meeting, then to church for mass, then home so she can finish her massive amount of homework she has been working on between things this weekend - poor kid!

Keep on

Chris -- not sure if this helps, but I have found that I should have lots of ice water and a mouth full of gum when I am cooking/baking something I'd otherwise eat.

It's great to hear how excited your Dad is about WDW. Even though my Dad was sick already when we took him in August 2003, I'm glad he got to go and that we have great pix of him there. Enjoy the anticipation of going! :goodvibes

I hope you have a wonderful, not-too-crazy week!

Congrats on your recent loss! And kudos to you for making holiday treats to take to work. It takes a lot of discipline and determination to not nibble when baking goodies like that. You are doing great! :cool1:

I think your goal of halfway by Feb is realistic for you. And if you don't make it, oh well, you will make it shortly after!! :cheer2:

Keep it up, you will look great when you go on your trip! :Pinkbounc

I loved your creative snow shoveling workout! Thats one way to burn a ton of calories.

I hope that Disney comes quickly. ::MickeyMo I know I always love going, & we get so excited. Its nice that you're dad is going too.

Hello all - thanks for the comments.

Well, making the treats went well. But I didn't resist the nibbling. However, the good part was that while I was making everything this weekend my sinus infection kicked in full force and I was having a hard time breathing through my nose. When that happens I don't eat well and I wasn't hungry. So that was good. BUT....

On the other end of that I believe that is why I was losing so much weight this weekend (3.5 pounds total) is because I just couldn't eat. I wasn't hungry and when I ate I was full fast because I couldn't breath - that's how my body functions when I'm sick. But then yesterday came and I was feeling a bit better and HUNGRY!!!!! And so I ate treats as I was putting them on the trays, I snuck some at lunch, I ate some for snack when I got home from my meeting last night. And I gained a pound. Yesterday when I got on the scale it showed a 2.5 pound gain but I ignored that and waited to see what this morning was. Monday's I always seem to retain water - even if I've drank plenty over the weekend. And then by Wednesday it's gone. And it was.

So I'm at a 2.5 pound loss so far for this month, I'm at 47.5 lost so far and soon I will begin the TOM gain. But fortunately it will be gone before we leave so I'll have an enjoyable trip!!!!!! I so can't wait. We are at 16 days today!

Hope everyone has a great day and rest of the week. I am still waiting for tests results and now waiting for a referral to a neurologist for some headaches I've had for almost 2 months now. I so can't wait for this year to be over. I think probably what I need is just a good vacation!!!!!!

I don't know when I'm going to get back to journals. This is the last week from you know where before we leave for vacation. I thought I would get to them all this past weekend but this surprise making goodies snuck up on me and took more time. I still haven't decorated all of my house but will finish that this weekend. Most of it is up, the tree is up and decorated. We are now down to 6 days before dd is 16 :earseek: :earseek: :earseek: I so can't believe it! Anyway, I will try to get to journals this weekend and then probably won't get to them until after I get back from my trip - we'll see.

Have a good rest of the week.

Chris -- Glad your sinus pain is better. I hope the neurologist figures out quickly the reason for your headaches -- perhaps they are related to or triggered by your sinus pain.
Congrats on doing so great on the scale!
I hope you have lots of fun anticipating your trip. Enjoy the process!
Have a great day! :goodvibes: :wizard:

Well, I don't know if I want to get on the scale tomorrow - we'll see. Today was our holiday party - not a problem. Ate 5 meatballs (small), 8 celery sticks, 3 carrot sticks (large ones), 1 TBSP dip, snip of some baked brie thing (icky), 1/18th of a piece of chocolate bundt cake. That was all fine - my problem was when I got home and ate the stuff still sitting here. Tomorrow I'm putting the rest of that stuff in the freezer!!!!!

Otherwise, my day was pretty good. I got in 84 ounces of water. I haven't been able to get to Jazzercise in over a week now and tomorrow night, providing we don't have a load of snow by the time I get home, I'm going. I can breath a bit better so that will help but I feel so weighed down. Even though I shoveled on Saturday and Sunday and I've been busting my butt to keep my house clean - up and down stairs, etc. I have to get moving again. Once we hit this weekend it will be easier to go.

Have a good night (yes, I'm still up because dd is still working on homework and I can't go to bed until she's done - just a parent thing I have).

Keep on

Hi, sweetie! Congratulations! You did GREAT at your holiday party! I am like you -- I make a plan for those events and do well at them, but something just snaps when I get home and I start "grazing" for leftovers or odds and ends. For me, it is this whole eating at night weakness.

I hope you have a great day today.

BTW-- Just think of how great it is going to feel to get back to jazzercise.

12/8/05

The scale held steady this morning which I'm very happy about. I have got to stop grazing. I think some of it also is that dh has been gone this week traveling and today may be a bit stressful. He's suppose to head home from NM around 3pm with a layover in Denver for a few hours then head to Chicago. Well they are predicting 3-6 inches of snow today with Chicago getting it around 3-8pm. So I'm guessing that he is going to be delayed quite a bit. But we'll see. I think I'm just nervous for him. I don't mind him being gone at all - but I hate being the one that has to clear the driveway and I will definitely have to do that probably 2 times tonight, maybe. We'll see.

Hope everyone has a great day and thanks Cam!!!

Yes, you need to get those goodies into the freezer so you are not tempted anymore! I bet you will feel great once you get to Jazzercise again. I know I feel awesome when I finally get to workout after a couple days off...

You are doing great! :cheer2:

Well we got dumped on with snow this afternoon and because the driveway needed to be cleared for when dh comes home, if he makes it home (currently at 7:10pm central time he is stuck in Denver from his layover there, he is currently 2 hours delayed but may be more as the night goes on). So due to the road conditions and the snow still really coming down and the driveway I didn't get to go to Jazzercise like I wanted to. BUT.... I was out shoveling the driveway for an hour but counted it as 30 minutes. And it was intense shoveling again - lots of snow and lots of steps given the way I do the driveway so I can get the best calories burned (yes, I am creative that way).

I'm guessing that we have had around 4, maybe 5 inches of snow and there is now probably another 1/2 inch so far with another 1/2 left to receive. I will have to go back out and clean the driveway off again if dh does get come home because dd's car is in the garage and I need to get that out so dh can park in there. Plus we don't like our driveway having lots of snow in it because we get north sun and that doesn't melt the driveway very well - makes for an interesting ice rink!!!!!

Thanks Amy

HI Chris,

I hear the storm that hit us earlier this week is now moving on. I bet you have the stuff that we had here in Denver. We had about 3-4 inches of snow and it was and still is cold! We have been getting below zero each night here. Hopefully all you are is the snow and not the coldness too! They just don't make clothes warm enough for this weather!!!!

Did you DH make it home okay?

You are doing a great job, keep up the good work. Way to go on getting some exercise in while shoveling. I am going to add that to my workout total too. I didn't even think of that! I had to shovel yesterday!

Have a wonderful evening!

12/9/05

Well finally at 10:30 our time last night dh called and he could not get on a flight home. So he stayed near the airport in Denver. This was after delaying his flight 4 times, an hour at each time and finally at 9:30 our time cancelling the flight. He tried to get on the next flight that was due to go out but didn't make it (about 400 other people were also trying to get on that flight since two flights to Chicago had been cancelled). He did say at least he was stranded in Denver and not NM because he had more options of places to go if needed. So he's hoping to get on the 8:30 flight this morning, won't know for another hour.

Because of dh being gone I shoveled, and this morning snowblowed because the end of the driveway was at least 10 inches deep (up to my knees) for a total of 4 hours. So I have claimed 2 hours because it was intense exercise and got my heartrate up, especially the snow that was out in the driveway at 9:30 last night because there was some sleeting happening and it was weighing the snow down. I wimped out this morning and pulled out the blower because I would have probably still been there shoveling if I didn't.

I definitely proved that exercise of some type moves those calories and metabolism. I got on the scale this morning and I was down 1.5 pounds from yesterday, and I ate pretty well yesterday. So I'm sitting at 49 off today!!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc COME ON BODY, ONE MORE TO GO!!!!!

eeyore - yes I think this is the storm you guys had. We had the blazing cold temps earlier this week, lows below zero and highs making it in the teens. Suppose to be up to 30 tomorrow!!!!!

Hope everyone has a good day and if the snow is heading your way, please be safe!!!

Keep on

Wow, I didn't realize shoveling snow was such an effective workout! I don't have that option here in AZ... :sunny: I saw where that plane ran off the runway in Chicago. How sad for the family of that little boy. So it is probably a good thing your DH was stuck in Denver.

Are all of the goodies out of the way? Hopefully you can get that out of your system and get back to healthy eating. Your trip is coming up, you must be so excited! :hyper:

Hey, Chris! Congrats on hitting 49 with only one more to that awesome new clippie. So glad your DH wasn't flying in that horrible weather last night. Hope he makes it home early enough today for you all to enjoy a nice day together.

Have an awesome weekend, Chris, and keep your eye on the prize. You are so close! :cheer2:
