Cruise's (Chris) Accountability/Sap Journal :) (comments welcome)

Sounds like you've got great plans for Thanksgiving. You're fortunate your hotel has a workout facility. Between that and your healthy snacks you'll do great. I'm glad to hear that you're getting colder with the weight you lose. I was always the cold one but since gaining so much weight I'm now the hot one. Thats not too good living in Florida. As stupid as it sounds, I can't wait to be the cold one again!

Congrats on the .5 weight loss despite the TOM. I know that's a big deal. I think you'll be at 45 lbs lost very soon.

Stay warm! :teeth:

Hey Cruise,

Thanks for stopping by! If you have the courage, stop by and read about yet another group of tornadoes to roll through Western Kentucky!

I hope you can grab that clippie! You are so close, don't let Thanksgiving do you in. I am going through the exact same thing, and you can do it!

Have a great weekend and holiday!

Dax

That's wonderful about the loss even with TOM! Thanks for your encouraging words in my journal! You keep on doing what you are doing! It's obviously working!

Dax - I did hear about those. I was so worried that they were near my cousin who lives near Covington because the reports here were saying it was western KY and TN. Then I finally found an online news story and found out they were to the east and nearer to you - sorry to hear about that!!!!!

Well, today was interesting. Got on the scale and I was holding steady at 44 off. Had all intentions and was really looking forward to going to workout, got to the railroad tracks and we were blocked by 3 trains (out in the country). So turned around and headed a different direction and by the time we got there and the trains cleared from there it was 10 minutes before class was to start and we had at least 15 minutes before we were going to be there. So we gave up and didn't go. Went to Panera instead and got a bagel and coffee and had a good talk with my daughter about some things - a nice talk. So then we went on with our day - hit a local scrapbook store that is closing and got some stuff I've wanted at 40% off, went and dropped dd off to get her hair cut and highlighted, went to a Junior GS training I was doing, picked dd up and then dh and I headed to Geneva/Batavia for some shopping - Crate and Barrel (love this store), Sam's, Trader Joe's and Meijer. By the time we got to Meijer we were both very hungry so we decided to head home and go to Baker's Square. That way I could have a salad. So the soup of the day was Cream of Potato and you get a cup size amount. So I had the soup, salad, and taster's slice of pie (1/2 of 1 slice of pie). Well we start to order and our waitress is having problems, she got white and shaky and sat down, she ended up she was blacking out so they brought us a new waitress. She got my order mixed up, some. I got my soup (which wasn't very good so I didn't finish it), I got my salad and dinner roll with too much dressing, and got my piece of pie. Except she brought me out a whole slice. Did I eat it all - well, almost leaving about 2 bites. BAD BAD BAD BAD me!!!!!! OHHHHHHHH but it was sooooooooooo good. And I know I won't have pie next week at Thanksgiving because there isn't going to be any so I'm fine with what I ate. But I felt like a brick afterward. It's been soooooooooo long (4 months) since I had a piece of pie. And it was Carmel Pecan Silk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YUM

So tomorrow I can't go workout either because I have a Habitat house dedication to go to and we are getting some stuff for a car that we got for dd (yes, we broke down and bought one due to some carpool issues) and going to get a stereo system installed for her as well. But I am planning on getting in the 30 minute walk tape that we have so I can see how much exericse I can do with this leg. It still is being a bit sensitive and I don't want to push it too much.

Hope everyone had a good day!!!!
Take Care
Keep on

Hi Chris!
Thanks for posting on my journal...it helps to know others are watching out for me. If you don't mind me asking...how old is your DD? I just saw that you bought her a car, so I guess she's 16+. Just wondering because I'm doing WW with my DS10. So far so good...but do you have any tips for me from a mom's perspective??

You are doing so great, losing 45 lbs!!!! We did WW two years ago and I lost 45, it made a huge difference, but now I've gained 40 back. I really am ready to lose.

Thanks for keeping a journal to inspire the rest of us!

Chris - you are doing fantastic with your healthier you journey. I hope the leg gets feeling better soon so you can start exercising again.

I have been in the same boat twice with the calf issue. When I was consistently taking group training classes, everytime she added some step exercise into the routine, I would strain the calf muscle. It was decided step exercises were not good for my legs. I have a issue of having very non-flexible ankles. Even my favorite orthopede cannot get them to flex to 90 degrees so my calf take the brunt of the impact when stepping back off the step.

Rest was the only thing that helped. The first time I did it, I was stubborn and decided I could still use the treadmill while it healed. It ended up taking twice as long to heal as the second time.

Use the pain level a a guide and try to stretch often. It also helped me when I got one of the 'stick' from rrs to help work out the knots.

Good luck this week with all the holiday food. Have a great week and hope you can get back to exercising soon.

You are doing so well! It seems like just yesterday I was in here and you just got your 25lb clippie and now look at you!

Glad you had fun shopping yesterdary--it sounds like you and DD got some great bonding time together.

I hope you have a great day today and your leg feels a little better!

Well, I'm a weekend flunkie!!!! I have got to get the weekends under control. Part of it too was TOM is here and I was struggling with sweetness again but I seemed to also struggling with listening to my mind telling me I'm full. I also have not been able to workout which I'm sure is part of it too. I have a 1 pound gain. I'm not happy with myself. I'm really disappointed with myself because I wanted 50 off by now. Oh well, I'm shooting for it to be gone (plus more) before we leave for Disney in a month. That is a doable plan I should not have any problems making that - I hope. And perhaps some of this will be gone when TOM is finally gone but I know it's not all because of TOM. But I did get 30 minutes of walking in yesterday. We had a stereo system put in dd's car and had to leave it at Best Buy. So we walked down to Kohl's (after walking quickly through WalMart before going to Best Buy). Walked back to Best Buy, hadn't even started on the car (after having it already an hour). So we were hungry so we walked to Steak and Shake - which was a good mile total and we walked it hard and fast since we knew we weren't going to get a workout or anything in since it was taking so long. So I've marked the 30 minutes from yesterday (15 there, 15 back).

And, yes, dd is 15 right now - will be 16 in less than a month. She goes to school 30 minutes from our house and our carpool is not holding together well so we decided it was going to be better if we got a third more economical car (I have a Trailblazer and dh has a Tracker - both not getting great gas mileage). The one thing that I want to tell you is to not push your ds Katy. Let him do things at his own pace. Pushing can result if bigger problems later. Giving LOTS of encouragement is key to their success and to less frustration on your part. It is hard - my dd is very overweight but has lost 25 pounds since we both started working out and watching what we are eating. She has about 50 more to go but I'm letting her do this at her pace. Her doc also had her go to the nutritionist and that has helped some.

So here I am sitting at 43 gone. Disappointed but now discouraged. I just need to try harder!!!

I have to tell you something funny. This has been a rough couple of week because our household has been so busy. So Saturday night I threw one load of clothes in the washer, got them going in the dryer and got another load in the washer before heading to bed. Got up yesterday, folded the load in the dryer, threw the other load in the dryer and put a load of towels in the washer. Second load is done in the dryer, put the first load of towels in the dryer but didn't start the dryer because we were heading out to get the stereo in the car. Started the last load of towels but let them sit in the water. Came home, started up towel load 1 in dryer and turned on washer to wash towel load 2. Went outside to clean out plants for the winter, told dd that when the towel load 1 was done drying to please put them in the basket and put the next load in the dryer. Towel load 2 finished in the dryer just before we had to leave for church last night so I left them. DH thought he was being a big help apparently. I came home last night, go to start folding towel load 1 and I'm like, where did dd put the towels. So I asked her and she said in the basket like I told her to. Well the basket is empty!!!! So I thought that dh folded them and put them away. So I open the washer to start a load of delicates and see a load of towels in there. I'm like, where did all these clothes come from. DD really needs to clean her room and I know she has towels in there but I didn't think that many. And I wouldn't go in there to get them so I ask dh where he got all the towels that were in the washer. He said from the basket!!!!! THAT WERE ALREADY WASHED AND DRYED!!!!!!! So needless to say we have a load of towels (and undies) that are extra clean now!!!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: I was like, OMG, I can't believe he did that. Needless to say it was a rather interesting evening last night because the undies that were in there, were ones that I really needed because all of mine were getting washed so I had some for today!!!!!! Poor guy.

Hope everyone has a great day and a great week. Don't know if I'll get to many journals. Have a test tomorrow for the doc for some things that have been going on and then leaving in the afternoon on Wednesday to go to the in laws.

Happy Thanksgiving!!!! Take care and travel safe to anyone that is traveling.
Keep on

Don't get down on yourself about the weight gain! You are still doing fantastic. Look at how much weight you've lost already! That is a huge accomplishment. Be proud of that! :cheer2:

Funny laundry story. At least he washed them twice instead of folding and putting away dirty ones! :rotfl:

I hope you have a great trip. Enjoy your Thanksgiving and if you gain a little bit, don't worry, it will come back off! :goodvibes

Hey,

I know your goal was 50, but gosh 43 is a great accomplishment! So you are a month behind, big whoop! You can get 7 off in a month!

Have a great Thanksgiving!

Dax

Oh Chris,

I am so proud of you! You have lost 43 pounds! That is wonderful! :goodvibes I know that it is not the 50 pounds that you wanted, but just think about all of the wonderful changes you have made in your life. Healthier eating, exercise, and 43 pounds gone! Wonderful!!!! Way to go, Chris! :jumping1:

Have a Happy Thanksgiving! :goodvibes

Thanks guys - I had myself in a very disappointed rut. Your words mean the world to me!!!!

Today the scale held steady even though I felt much better today. I'm having a breast MRI this afternoon and so my emotions and nerves are running very high (and my stomach is too) so I'm guessing I'll have a slight loss tomorrow - I hope. When I get very nervous and stressed my metabolism tends to jump way high.

I didn't write down anything I ate yesterday but I did stop when I was full or didn't eat if I didn't feel hungry, which was the case. So I didn't get my carrots and celery in that I was hoping for. But that's okay.

Here's to a good day!!!!!!

I hope everything turns out OK at the Dr. Hang in there!

Have a great Thanksgiving! :flower:

Test went okay. I won't know the results until possibly later this afternoon or Friday (or Monday if the doc isn't in on Friday).

Scale was down .5 this morning :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc so on to the rest of the weekend. I know what I need to do to be on pace this weekend. I am going to workout for at least 30 minutes on the treadmill at the hotel this weekend, starting tonight. I need to get my leg back to a comfortable spot for working out. I know I can't do any quick jumping movements yet - I found that out last night.

Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving. Going to try to get some journals read today before I leave (not much going on at work but have to be here to break a secretary for lunch).

Keep on
Chris

Hi Chris,

Thanks for stopping by my journal this morning! :goodvibes You will be in my thoughts and prayers as you await your test results.

Have a safe and Happy Thanksgiving! :goodvibes

I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Sending :wizard: for good new from the doc!

I really think you've accomplished a lot over the last several months. A lot of folks here, myself included, started out really gung ho and have had trouble hanging on. You've been a lot more focused and have stuck with it better than a lot of people I know. Every ounce of what you've lost in a great accomplishment! You've done a great job!

Have a happy Thanksgiving! Sending prayers your way about the MRI. What a way to spend a holiday. You're doing a great job with your weightloss plan. You'll have a great time at Disney.

Have a great Thanksgiving Cruise! I am so glad you have frequented my journal!
