I am considering buying into DVC. Is there any place I can find points need for other activites like Disney cruise??

Unless your state prohibits it, you can get an info packet from DVC with all the point charts in it.

Generally, things other than DVC are a little pricey point wise (that is, if you rented your points at even $10/point, you could pay cash and not use as many points).

Here is an example of points per person for the first 2 on the Western Caribbean (the 4 values are for the 4 different pricing seasons):

This is a long-debated topic on the DisBoards. Many people would rather rent out their points and cruise on cash. Cash does give a lot more flexability. However, my DH and I bought into the DVC for the main reason that we want to cruise on points. We like calling up, paying our $75 booking fee and we're done! Period...

When I first booked the 11 day in September that we're going on it was $3993 for the 2 or us in a cat 11. Now the price is $3200. It cost us 448 points to book this cruise plus the $75 booking fee. Now if we'd sold those points for $10 per, we would have had $4480 which would have given us $1280 cash extra.

HOWEVER, there is a certain amount of risk in renting points. You have to trust them and they have to trust you. It is a hassle that we do not want to go thru. We bought the points to cruise and cruise we shall.

As I said, it's so nice to call and in just a few minutes, I'm done with the whole reservation. We did buy the insurance and it was very reasonable. Only $121.03 to cover 448 cruise points and 22 BWV points the night before the cruise. If our trip is cancelled for a covered reason, we'll get $5 per point. On that, we can book another cruise.

To each his own, that's why I live in America! :wave2:

Good luck with whatever you decide!

thanks for all the help!! Its nice to know your options going in to such a decision.
