Chatter, chatter, chatter! We do have a chatty group, and I think DAN is the ringleader!! Love it! :D

IF you guys in PA have a meet prior to cruise, let Tulirich and me know - we would drive out to attend too. Unfortunately, we have to skip meeting at Amy and Chris's house as nice as it sounded. :( I am not doing two drives to Florida in one year! :jester:

SueEllen, I know what you mean. Just skipping one day is tragic! ;) My poor brain is full-up. I'm going to have to start taking notes.
Later, Ave'

Thanks for those who asked about Ollie. I was really worried about him yesterday but today he is doing much better. He is eating more and he is starting to clean himself again. With a wire in his mandible and stitches in his lips, I'm sure it hurts to even open his mouth. He just sleeps and sleeps and sleeps. But today he is doing some rotations... he went from the bed to the computer chair to the kitchen chair. So that is nice. Prior to that, he just stayed in one spot - for days!

Of course, he sometimes seems a little out of it and someone at work asked if we thought he might be a little brain damaged. I responded that it would be hard for us to tell because he always was a little spacey to begin with.

Hey Ave! When you try to get into the chat room, do you use "default" or have you downloaded ICHAT plugin?

Rosemary - So glad to hear that Ollie is doing better. Poor little guy, I'm sure that he'll be back to his ol' self in no time.

And speaking of chat, Friday night shouldn't be a problem but we will miss the Saturday Cruisetoberfest chat again. :( We have to take Oliver out to the Hamptons for his postop check.

Ohhh Rosemary - are you sure you don't want to come out of the cold to the warmth of FL??? ;) ;) ;) It's been so nice here in FL lately, but I heard that the weather is going to be gloomy this upcoming week. Lots of grey skies and rain. But, I'll be in Chicago and it looks like we may get some snow while we're there. Chris doesn't want to see the snow, but I do, because I want to see Emily playing in the white stuff!!!:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Thanks Amy. And to think I HATED this cat to begin with. I used to call him "The Interloper". He would sit outside on our deck and look in and DH would feel sorry for him and feed him. Ha! The cat had half the neighborhood feeding him. He actually belonged to DS's friend who live two houses up but Ollie decided there were too many people living in that house and when the dog had puppies he was so outta there!

Well, one bad winter, DH convinced me to let him come into the house but I said we had to take him to Vet to be checked out, etc. I didn't want him giving any diseases to our other cats. He was such a tough guy out in the neighborhood. He was a bully and ruled the block but he was afraid of our little Gizmo. I think he knew he had to be on good behavior and put up with stuff otherwise I would put him right back outside on his ear!

Now, Ollie is EVERYBody's favorite. Everybody loves Oliver. He thinks he is a dog. He follows you. We have a party in the yard, he lays on the little kid lounge chair as if the party was for him. I do hope he gets better soon.

Why do I feel like I am a day late and a dollar short with these postings? Amy, I didn't say I wouldn't WANT to leave this cold and go to the warmth of Florida. If I could, I would! ;) Time constraints, however. I haven't won the Lotto yet and as it is I will be taking more vacation time this year than I actually have! Work is not going to look too kindly on that when I tell them! HAHA

I think Chris is the SMART one in your family. (Emily - when you see the snow, tell mommy "NO! NO! NO!)

Tulirose, I will try again for the chat, but last time I really messed up the puter. Don't ask me how I did, but I did. So glad to hear Oliver is on the mend.
alikat99, don't keep teasing these poor northern people with Fl weather conditions. It's not thier fault that us Floridians know where to live. ;)
Bed is calling. Later, Ave'

Rosemary - Isn't that funny?!?!? We've had pets like that in the past, where no one was really that thrilled about having them, but then they turn out to be the best pet. We have 2 cats and I love them both for different reasons. One is as friendly as can be, and one is a scaredy cat! But, the scaredy cat is the one that is the cuddliest! Oh well, they are just part of the family!!

Rosemary - you just need to get those winning Lottery numbers and head down to FL. I know, if you won the Lottery, there would probably be more places than just FL that you'd want to go.

Ave - I know, sometimes I just wonder why all the northerners stay in the cold. But, this state is only so big!!

The best seen snow is from CNN or WGN - from the TV in my warm, sunny, home on FL!!! Heck, we could get an Italian ice shaver and that would be close enough to snow for me!

Rosemary, you just reminded me of our poor old dog, Buster. He was a beautiful Golden Retriver and we loved him dearly. One afternoon he caught a Harley Motorcycle and it knocked him silly. He was "Drain Bamaged" after that but still loveable. He couldn't stand up straight for a few weeks and had lost the ability to sit and to beg. We all cried over that dog. After a few weeks he was back to his old self and begging and sitting on command (but not for long, he never learned "stay") :D

He climbed over our fence and chased our neighobors' motorcycle until he caught it that once and never chased it again. He would put his paws into the fence holes to climb over.

I miss that old dog. He died of cancer at the ripe old age of 12. It was a long time before I could pet one without crying.

We are expecting more ice tonight. YUCK! Mike got me home just in time this morning to slide across the deck into the house.(Ice) I was supposed to go to Physical Therapy but instead I called them and canceled. I didn't want to wind up in ICU!

We still have only two babies in the NICU and I called to stay home tonight and they said I could stay home until 11p.m. but to call and see if I was needed after that. The ice will be arriving about that time so I just came on in. Why chance it?

I am getting so excited about the KW scavenger hunt. Cathy, do you want me to ask Stacey to design something? I know she will be glad to.

Between the oil in the curves, chunking beer cans at other carts, beating each other with our canes and various other atrocities, do you think KW will let us back?

Speaking of KW, is Shirley meeting with us this year? We didn't get to meet her last year. I was really looking forward to REAL Key Lime pie. We were going to be interviewed by a newspaper too. I just hope we aren't in the paper for destroying the place. :teeth: . Where would we get the bail money?:p

Time for a Supervisor to come around so will get off for now. Take care. Kathy with a K

Umm. I hate to be the wet blanket here. I feel like the person you have to explain the joke to and that is always a bummer but I don't understand this Scavenger Hunt thing at all. What is the appeal of it - other than a bunch of crazy Cruisetoberfesters running around Key West?

We pay them money to see sights in Key West but we will probably still have to pay to see these sights; for instance, the fee to get into Hemmingways home. And then I will have to rush my visit to his home in order to not fall behind others and the need to get to the next spot asap to get a ?flamingo? I must have missed something because I didn't read anything about flamingos on their website.

How big is Key West? Are these electric carts needed to get to all the sites or can we hoof it?

You can tell I have not researched our ports of call at all. I feel like the proverbial wet noodle here. Can someone clue me in please?? You guys are a great group of people and fun but Rich and I kinda wanna relax during our vacation time. We run around enough in real-life time. So, please don't flame me for this post. I am just trying to understand. Different people expect different things from their vacations, is probably what it comes down to but I STILL honestly do comprehend how this "hunt" is suppose to work.

Umm, maybe Ollie is not the brain-damaged one around my family after all.

Isn't Shirley from the Perfect Gift from Key West? I wonder if she knows anything about this and what her take on it is.

See!!! I KNEW it. Chris IS the smart one in the family! LOL

Kathy - Buster sounds like he was a great dog. Thanks for sharing. Get home safe from work. No slip sliding.

One of our PA posters (I can't remember which one now) posted that it was snowing at about 5:30. They are predicting snow in NY tomorrow night but I'm hoping they are wrong.

I agree with Ave, bed is calling. Take care everyone!

Wow! You guys were busy since this afternoon!

Rosemary-- Here's my take on the Scavenger Hunt. I figure it's a good way to find our bearings at Key West, then we can go back to what we want to explore further after the hunt. My hope is that they wouldn't require you to actually go inside any of the attractions that have a fee for the hunt. I didn't think we'd need a cart for us, but if MIL wants to join us, we may get one for her. The three of us walk way too fast for her. I'm sure it's do-able on foot since the island is only about 2 miles by 4 miles, I think.

Does that make any sense?

Colleen
