Oh, I don't know Rosemary, I think it is just something to do together. I have never been on a hunt and I wondered what it was. I think the carts will be fun just "because"

I don't think Key West is all that big and you certainly don't need the cart. It just sounds like fun. I am not flaming anyone.

Mike and I can't walk too long either. Ask Cathy and Art. We were last to get back to the bus at the Fort on Puerto Rico due to our slowness. :o

I don't know for sure if Shirley is aware of our coming this time but I think she is.

Take care, Kathy

Chris was trying to get the magical 2300 post, but you beat him to it!! And, you weren't even trying!!! Have a good night Kathy!! I hope all those babies are doing well tonight!

Holy Cow! I am having to log in and out on this computer. Amazing that I got it. Thanks for letting me know. I have to go now and feed a 4 pounder that I saved last week. When he was born he didn't have a heart rate until I "bagged" him up and the doctor got him stabilized. Now he is a hungry little fellow. Off the vent, dopamine and antibiotics. Still on nasal cannula oxygen though but we are weaning that really slowly.

Duty calls, take care. Kathy

Wow, I'm gone for a few hours and come back to find 4 more pages.

Rosemary--- I agree with Colleen, I think it is just a fun way to see Key West and I wouldn't think you would have to pay to get into the attractions. I would never flame anyone for doing their own thing. It's your vacation so do what you feel comfortable with. Last year I over researched everything and then we didn't make it to any of those ports. I just went with the flow at the new ports, so this year I am more laid back about excursions.
Glad Ollie is doing better.

Mary Jo-- This weekend we are going out to IUP (Indiana U of PA) for DS#2 hockey tournament. I will have alot of time between games and Puxatawney is only 30 minutes from IUP. I am going to hunt down that groundhog and do him in. Maybe the weather will improve after that.

I have spent the evening in a cold ice rink, so going to take a nice warm shower and then off to bed.

Nancy

I forgot one thing. Amy have your lost your mind that you want to come up North and see the snow!!!! At least you get to leave the rest of us are stuck here.

Have a safe trip.

Nancy

The Scavenger Hunt is an overview of the island much like the Conch Train or Trolley Tours but with a fun twist. As with the Trolley or Train, admission is extra for some attractions. If you want to explore Hemmingway's House or climb the stairs of the Lighthouse, you can do it then, or go back after the hunt. Much like the Conch Train since you can't get off. You do not have to go into admission bearing attractions, just on the outside to find the answers to clues. Most attractions like the Southernmost Point, shrimp dock, Sloppy Joe's don't require admission to experience them. You might win admission to some of these actractions at the awards ceremony, drinks and food at some of the famous eating establishments. Basically, a nice fun wacky way to get an overview of the island. An electric cart isn't necessary to experience this tour.

:bounce: :bounce: SURVIVOR TONITE :bounce: :bounce:
Need I say more, Guess a lot of us will be in front of the TV!

MaryJo ... Gertrude HawK smidgins would amaze a lot of the gang ... how to keep from melting may be problem. We live about 2 miles from the Gouldsboro State Park and Art goes by that intersection everyday on his way to work @ North Pocono. It's the same place the student from North Pocono was killed at about 2 weeks ago. I'm wondering if the "sicko" thought he could just dump those poor puppies out with the rest of the stuff that has been left in memory of the student. Art & AshLee said it's a good thing that I didn't find the puppies cause we'd probably end up with 5 dogs in the house instead of the "queen" AshLee. We really need to meet over a dinner somewhere.

Rosemary ... I think I know whey you were MIA from the boards for a few days. I wish I could give you a hug and Ollie a rub. Pets are mostly "little furry children" to a lot of people. Just a ?, He's going to the HAMPTONS for his check-up ... wow, he must be a reallll special kitty!

Amy ... Not to worry, I check out Eric's listing when I send out the logos so they are size appropriate. HAVE A SAFE TRIP THIS WEEKEND and please take home as much snow as you want. Unfortunately, GOD will probably make more!

Nancy ... How is Norm doing after his last surgery?

Mike ... Stay the heck off the ice. We really don't need you falling with your back as it is. Kathy, you too! Hope your weather improves soon. Snow is one thing but ice is worse.

Dan ... If you are doing errands to the stores and picking up stuff . I could use dinner for 2 1/2 tonite! Anything you can bring me is OK and BTW, we like to eat about 6 to 6:30 PM. HeHeHe.

Gotta run ... work calls...........

Have a Very Mickey Day!

Cathy with @ C

Cathy we are trying to be careful. The ice storm that they were forecasting for Nashville stayed about 30 miles to our northwest.

Rosemary know what you mean about taking it easy on vacation. That is the nice part about everyone on the boards here. We get together and plan stuff, but no one is obligated to do anything or spend time with anyone they don't want to.

Have been looking for Arlene to post more on the thread. Another New Yorker and I understand that she is not that far from Rosemary.

Dan with all the folks from Pa going with us including some of my former cruise-mates; do you think that there is any chance that we could get them to teach us to Polka or do the chicken dance???:jester: :jester: :jester: Mike

I'M HERE AND TAKING EVERYTHING IN. I NEED TO TALK TO MY HUSBAND ABOUT THE SCAVENGER HUNT STILL BUT CANT WAIT TO PLAY. IF EVERYBODY IS BRINGING SOMETHING TO THE CRUISE MY CONTRIBUTION WILL BE NY BAGELS.

TONIGHT SURVIVOR...SHOULD BE A GOOD ONE....GOTTA GO...

ARLENE

Mike ... PLEASSSSSSSSSSSSE don't bring up the Polka. My very first cruise DSIL (That's you MaryLou) got us snookered into doing the Beer Barrel Polka in the lounge on the ship. The singer asked where we were from, yada yada and she yelled out Pennsylvania ...well it was all down hill from there. Hmmmm, maybe that's why she dosen't cruise DIsney anymore?

Gotta get MaryJo and Mike together when she goes to Nashville this summer .... MIKE, you up to being a tour guide? I told her a lot of nice things about you guys.

Sooooooooooooo Cooooooooooool gonna have a meet with MaryJo ... she only lives about 20-some miles from us.

:Pinkbounc Guys ... do you think the girls will finally get their poop together and get shelter on SURVIVOR tonite? I don't think they had thought of what is's really like to live in the middle of no-where! Let me at-em. FOOD, WATER, SHELTER - DUH.

Almost forgot ....

:bounce: Yoo Hoo, ARLENE ... we won't bite. Get on Eric's list and you'll be able to learn more about us all. Seriously, we're harmless!

HI: I'M STILL HERE. I ALREADY AM ON ERICS LIST. UNFORTUNETELY I ONLY USE THE COMPUTER AT WORK SO I DONT JOIN IN ON YOUR NIGHT/WEEKEND CHATS. IT DOES SEEM A BIT INTIMIDATING TO JOIN IN WITH ALL YOU GUYS SINCE YOU ALL SEEM TO HAVE SUCH GREAT RELATIONSHIPS..

CANT WAIT TO SEE/MEET ALL YOU GUYS... THIS IS MAKING THE ANTICIPATION OF THE TRIP EVEN MORE EXCITING....

ARLENE

Eric--how is Roland's mom? I knew you said she was having surgery last week. Our prayers and thoughts are with both her and Roland.

ARLO1--Don't feel intimidated--I've been lurking on the boards for a few months and finally decided to respond to the thread and the people are so friendly that I feel like I know them already!! I usually only go on the boards during work because I have a 13 year old who won't give me 5 minutes on my computer at home!! The email address listed is my work email!! I've never met any of the posters but have already made arrangements to meet up with some of them!! WELCOME!!

padisneyfan--I hear alot about IUP because my assistant boss' two children went there--one graduated and one is still there! You go girl and get that groundhog and give him a wack for me!! MJ

Arlene ... I too felt like you at first. I started out in 2001 and didn't know any of these people. After I joined in I ended up in the hospital and the gang was so nice to me and helped me over the hurdle ... we all really started to connect over the net and were so excited to finally meet in person and then WHAM 9-11-01 hit. You have to realize that we were scheduled to leave on our cruise on 9-22-01. We went from an absolute high to the worst low feeling you could imagine. We had so many worries ... Rosemary lives in NY and her and her husband work there - were they OK? Anja and Eric live in Germany and were scheduled to fly to the USA at that time - were they going to be able to come and were they OK. We were all trying to decide should we continue on with the Cruisetoberfest or not ... we all came back to the DIS and decided that we needed to meet, say some prayers for those lost souls and tell the terrorists that they were not getting the best of us. I have to say ... it was so emotional when we met. We had small american flags that we waved at Sail-A-Way and sang a lot of patriotic songs at Dueling Pianos ... it was the best. Right now I actually have tears in my eyes thinking about it. But we bonded and I'm sure will be friends for life. PLEASE DON'T FEEL AFRAID TO JOIN IN ... these guys are the best!

OK gotta take a break ... be back later..................

Cathy with @ C

3-2-1 Roll out the barrel, we'll have a barrel of fun!!!!!Polka.

Good to see you posting Arlene. Welcome again to the group.

Eric here is pixie dust for Roland's mother~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~**

Mary Jo watch out for the Cathy girl;) she will have you going to the arts and craft store before you know it. Cathy is Art-ca still shoveling snow off the school roof and parking lot????

Mary hope all is well with you and the troop of evil little girl scouts:jester: :jester: you know the ones that give you those sad puppy-dog eyes looks and say"would you like to buy some cookies?" I say evil because they would make my cardiologist have a heart attack when he saw me reaching into my pocket for money to get those forbidden fruits:teeth: My favorites are the thin mints.

Mike

Arlene ... Dosi Do (spelling) I think is square dancing! HeHeHe.

Mike ... Whatever you do, don't mention the snow word in front of Art. He's about to go balistic if he has to plow or shovel much more. I can honestly say that if we ever won the lottery ... we'd be looking for a place to hide out in the colder months.

Eric ... Have you heard from Roland on how his mother made out? Such a sad illness ... tell him we're sending our best across the pond.

I tried to work up a cartoon pink flamingo ScavengEAR last night but had a bad sinus headache ... Oh No, does that mean more snow on the way! Forget me doing anything tonite besides Survivor and CSI ... This is my must-do TV night.

Haven't seen Dave (CheesePlease) posting lately -- hope they are OK. He was the first person that we met from the Cruisetoberfest I ... parking lot of Radisson with his T-shirt on.
See those shirts are good for somethiing!

I love Tuesday nights also. My favorite is Jag. On Thursday's it is survivor, CSI are must does. Di-so-dos just looked at the package Arlene. Kathy likes those the best and the new ones that are like the milano's are good also. Cookie talk is making me hungry. Later. Mike

I'm trying to make a list of the ScavengEar Hunt people with last names, so when we mail our checks to the Southernmost Scavenger Hunt our DIS names match with our checks and last names. Please e-mail with your last name with DIS name. If you've done so, thanks. If not, please do so by e-mailing me at knophop@comcast.net . We've added four more people to our pre-registration list. I found them with the direct e-mailing and they were greatful they don't visit our thread because you fall behind very fast if you don't visit everyday.

www.keywesthunt.com

*Cost?
It's $20/person for 3 hours. Kids 10 years and under are FREE. Prepayment by check is required three months prior to excursion (July). They don't take credit cards. If we miss Key West, the checks will be refunded. I'll provide an address and more info on this in July so we can mail our checks to them.

*Place and time?
We are going to meet on Sunday, October 12th, 2003 at 1PM in front of the stairs to the Hilton Hotel Lobby. It's to the right of the red brick building (Custom House) as you leave the ship. The Magic usually docks in front of the Hilton Hotel.

*Electric Cart?
If one needs an electric cart, the scavenger hunt people can point you in the right direction to rent one. The two electric cart places they use are Key West Cruisers @ (305)294-4724 http://keywest.com/keywestcruisers/ on Truman Ave at Truman and Duval and Reef Mobile (formerly Randal J Scooters) @ (305) 296-0208 www.reefmobile.com on Greene Street (near Sloppy Joes Bar on Duval). The Reef Mobile Electric Carts are themed, but have changed management and are going to be themed according to "reefs", like shark, manatee, dolphin, baracouda or octopus in a reef theme instead of the polka-dotted one on the hunt website. Call these companies to make reservations if you require an electric cart. An electric cart isn't necessary to experience this tour.

*Sites?
Southermost Point, Hemmingways House, Shipwreck, Cigar Place, Shrimp Dock and off the wall places you might not normally have known about. The normal Key West sites plus some interesting wacky ones, too. Learn about interesting facts and trivia of these landmarks and sites.

*Hunting for objects?
In addition to searching for the sites and answering the clues (all for points are counted at the end for prizes), there is an object named "PINKY". He is their mascot and if you find him, he is worth an extra 50 points. People in Key West know of Pinky the Flamingo. He's famous. As our award winning scavenger hunt is, too. At the end of the hunt, people gather at the "mystery location" for the awards ceremony where all the points are tallied and stories of our hunt are told.

That's it for now. They will be checking in on us to give our group more information, so they will be posting shortly and I will also. If more people want to join the group, just reply to this thread. If I missed someone, sorry. Just remind me, and I'll add you.
