WELCOME, Michele! Looking forward to meeting you!

Shari

Welcome Michelemouse,

please mail your info to our CruisetoberfestII-Mailbox (A link is provided in my signature) to get our biweekly list and please also encourage your friends to do so. I can put them on the list as "Status Red", which means "Not-Yet-Booked" ;) Looking forward to your mail.

To everyone:

Please send all your wishes for updates or first entries until Wednesday morning (EST). We will leave for our Xmas-vacation on Friday and will return Dec 29th. So I intend to send the last update before Xmas Thursday around noon (CET), which is early morning EST or in the middle of the night for you West-Coasters.

Tomorrow morning we will watch the new Bond. A big multiplex cinema in Downtown Frankfurt has a Sunday morning special for €4.50 per ticket and after the movie we will run 6 to 8 miles in the gym and do an hour of Badminton afterwards to work off that popcorn :jester:

Ave--- Your Christmas shopping story is so funny. I can just seeing you running up and down the Wal Mart aisle, like a women possessed by the Ghost of Christmas Present.

Belated birthday wishes to Mary and Ave.

Viking--- thanks for the tip about the computer letting them sit before opening up, I didn't realize that it would cause a problem. I'm letting them sit anyway since the boys will need to set them up when they get home from college.

Yes Tulirose it is computers. I have two college age sons so they are each getting one to take back with them. It will save me from being like Ave on Christmas eve.

Colleen-- I should have said I got a CD of Candlelight procession not a tape. I'm still in the dark ages, I even call CD's records sometimes. You will love the Candlelight procession, it was my favorite part of the WDW trip.

We had ice on Wednesday. It is not even winter yet and in the last two weeks, we have had schools cancelled because of snow last Thursday and ice this Wednesday. The rate it is going, the shools will have their snow days used up before Jan. Thank heavens my sons are in college, so I can plan my vacation without worrying about the snow days. Just makes it a challenge to get to work.

My house is now nearly decorated for the holiday. We got the tree today, so need to decorate that and then will have all the deocrating completed. So Ave when do you do yours? Or is that done 2 days before Christmas.

Mary--- You have had some tough patients the last few weeks. I will pray for both Andrea and her baby. How is the other girl doing that you were concerned about DV? I am taking care of a premie right now that has a colostomy, with young teenage mother poor prenatal care. You know how it is. Makes you sad that these little one already have so many things against them

Well, got to go and get started on decorating the tree.

Nancy

HI Gang, we just got back from the annual OB/Gyn Christmas party, hosted at the home of the head of the OB/Gyn dept at MUSC. We had a wonderful time! DH got to wear his tux (first time he has worn it on land:p ) and he looked SOO GOOD!

Nancy...I think Ave was talking about the patient who was involved with DV. It's ok ...we have been confusing people our whole life:p Thanks for the birthday wishes!

Welcome to MicheleMouse.. our kids are about the same age!Sorry you did not get to sail:( But very happy to have you join our crazy bunch!I planned for the Western ports for a year then , thanks to hurricain Lillie, we did not get to see them! So if you have any questions about Western, just ask!

AliKat...what a mess!!!! I hope all is back to normal now!

Got to get to bed, 3 glasses of wine and I can't keep my eyes open! I'm SUCH a lightweight!

Michele,

I got your mail. If I find time tonight when we're back from the Gym, I'll do an immediate update.

In less than 6 hours we will be under 300 days !!!! :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Hello all. Sorry that we haven't been around much lately, but we did get to see Stacey our daughter and mother of Katie graduate from college yesterday!!! Thank the Lord:) Thought that girl was going to be a professional student and both Katie and her were going to be in the same class.

Merry Christmas and happy holidays to all of our dis friends and fellow cruisers.

One good thing about being diverted by the hurricane , Mary is that we did get to see San Juan and we had never been there before.

Nancy hope that all is well with you and norm and enjoy the cd that you picked up at wdw. Mike

Dear friends,

LESS THAN 300 DAYS TO GO!!!!
And edition #10 of our evergrowing list is in your mailboxes.
For the newbies: The list always comes twice, as a Word.doc and as an Adobe-PDF-File, because some of our people can't open WordXP-files. So please download the file you prefer and just delete the other one.

Have a great Sunday

PS: The new Bond-movie was cooooooooooooool!!!

We just watched "Kevin-Home Alone" on TV, which is xmas-regular in Germany and laughed our bu..s off as usual.

Now it's bed time, because I have great things to do tomorrow: We have a thing called Cardio-Handicap in our gym. You have to run for 10minutes, then do the Stairmaster for another 10 minutes and top it off with another 10 minutes of cycling-Without any breaks in between. The distances you do are converted into a handicap-class with 15 being the worst and 1 being the best. Your handicap is that of your weakest 10 minutes. I'm 1 in cycling, 3 on the Stairmaster and 4 in running. Tomorrow I will do a head-to-head-competition against the Chief Instructor of our gym. We decided to do it the macho-way, a good old stupid p***ing contest. He's 11 years younger than me and I'll gonna bust his a** , because I decided to do a Straight One in all disciplines and make him cry like a baby :p
Sometimes it's so hard to be a man :p :jester:
If you don't hear from me in the next days, it is because I'm in the ICU getting an oxygen treatment - LOL

Weekend's over, back to work I go. Nancy, my house got decorated last weekend, thanks to DH. And the tree went up this Sat. I have all my Christmas quilts on the beds, and holiday bennie baby bears on the dashboard of the minivan. It's the Shopping I put off!;) The patient you asked about has disappeared. The doctor told her she had to participate in the prenatal care of her baby, and that included getting her labs/bloodwork done. I have trouble understanding why a woman would come to a doctor for prenatal care and then ignore his instuctions. :( I can only pray that the baby is OK, and suggest that her name be turned into Social Services for some kind of help. But we can't force her to comply. So frustrating!
Congrates to Stacey! And to proud Papa!
Eric and Anja: Hope you have smooth, ice free roads for your trip. Try to keep it under 100 mph. :p Later, Ave'

Ave, that disappearing patient, was she on drugs? Our patients tend to disappear or just don't come in until too late due to that reason. It is so sad. I had a little one last week that just suffered in silence. He was jittery and sometimes shook so bad he would shake his IV tubing. I had to bundle him to help him. The only thing was that he never cried. If I could write poetry I would have written a poem called "Suffer in Silence". The poor little guy had no one to help him. He had no drugs to help him over the hump while he withdrew. It just broke my heart. Then I just wanted to beat the stew out of the mom who did not visit.

On a lighter note, Stacey is a graduate!:bounce: I thought she would never graduate. Guess what she wants to do with her diploma? Be a stay at home mama. I could think of worse.;) She told Eric that he needs a better paying job so she could stay at home and that he was falling down on his part. ;) We had a really good day yesterday.

Hello to all the newbies, oldies and friends. Hope Cathy with a "C"s can get back on line soon. She thinks her computer got zapped due to the snow and ice in Pa. That is why she is not on the thread. She may check in on Monday if she is near a computer.

Take care, Kathy with a "K"

Kathy: So sorry about your "little" patient. They are the ones who suffer. I can not say if our lady was on drugs or not. There were none of the "signs", but that doesn't mean anything. I know one thing for sure, when she shows up in labor, she WILL be tested for drugs, so that the baby can be treated, if needed.
Cathy: Hope your puter is up and running again soon.;) Snow and Ice  Glad I live in Florida.:Pinkbounc

Cathy hope that you get your computer fixed soon. I would be worse that an alcoholic going through dt's if mine went south.

Eric hope that you and Anja have a safe a wonderful trip to see her family. I don't think that you will have to use the 120 mph rating of you snow tires.

Check back later. Mike

Hi, We're also 11/30 refugees. We spent that week in DisneyWorld instead with Michelemouse's family and had a great time. We've never been on a cruise before so we get to look forward to another year of aniticipation. Me, my DW, DD10 and DS8 will all be on board.

Looking forward to meeting everyone. Should be a blast!

Aren't some of us really possessed by our computers? I know I am! On my recent 5-week stay in FL, I figured I would finally leave my laptop at my sister's place in Daytona since I had my own room there. Then I wouldn't have to lug it with me on every trip. But a situation arose where I HAD to record a CD, and my old laptop only had a reader. So I went shopping and found a deal I couldn't resist on a bigger/better/faster/new HP notebook with everything. The day I left FL, I gave in to my mother's wishes and moved everything from my sister's to "my room" at my (widowed) mom's (same community). My old laptop now rests permanently in a closet there. I didn't want to leave my new one behind (computer addicts should understand), so I am still in the position of lugging a laptop on every trip. On the other hand, I talked my sister into buying one of these - which she LOVES for all her airline travels (work). I should have gone that route, but as my eyes get older, a 15" laptop screen was too appealing. :smooth:

WELCOME spectram and family! Have you e-mailed your info to Viking to be added to the official list?

Hello All. So many postings. Not enough time to respond to everything... but I do try!!! Where to begin?

First - DAN! Where are you? Are you really working that hard!? Or did my dinner for you have a delayed reaction and you now have a NY version of Norwalk's virus!? (I hope not) Hey, I wanna know how the "work" part of your trip to NY went.

Ave - Can't wait to meet you. I picture you to have Mary's fun personality (and her looks) but just not umm, as much of a planner... in other words, more like me! But I see in a later post how you want to make it perfectly clear that you don't leave EVERYTHING to the last minute for the holiday. Oh well, maybe we are not so much alike after all. LOL

Mary - How nice of your work to adopt that young mom-to-be. I'll remember her in my prayers. Okay, I'm a little ignorant...What is MUSC? That must have been one fancy Christmas party for George to get dressed in his tux. I bet he looked handsome indeed!!

Eric - Sounds like you got the right holiday spirit - Party Hardy! One more week of work and then another great vacation for you guys! Have fun and stay safe!

Alikat - Now that you had your Friday the 13th, things can only get better!! :D

papa - Glad to hear DD got her college degree. You guys have every right to be so proud of her. Kathy, so sorry to hear how tough that little baby had it. And thank you for the update about Cathy. I was wondering why she hasn't posted. Sending pixie dust her way to fix that computer of hers. Hoping her wrist is doing better and things are smoother at work for her too.

Eric - Just reading your post about the workout got me exhausted!

Welcome Michelemouse and spectram to the Cruisetoberfest II Cruise!!

paDisney - Boy - TWO in college at once and you're STILL going on a Disney Cruise? God bless ya! LOL oh, and whereabouts is York, PA? ***DUH*** I just read this over before hitting the submit button and just realized we go through York to get to Gettysburg. York is also where the Harley Davidson Museum is, right??

taswira - Great to see you back on the boards. You weren't posting much a little ways back, you know, when you were traveling. Hope you had a great time. The new laptop sounds nice. Is it an early Christmas present for yourself?

To All - Went Christmas shopping in Manhattan on Friday and had a blast! Got so much accomplished. But I left just about everything in Richard's locker at work since we were going to go uptown after he got done with work to see the tree, etc. (Dan, the tree was nice and it is big. Remember, it is just looks small in comparison with the building behind it.) Was a little worried about the proposed transit strike and pictured all my gifts staying in that locker of his until after the strike was settled, which with my luck would be after the holidays! However, all worry was for naught, there is no strike and he is bringing half of them home today!

P.S. - I just noticed and had to add that this particular post puts us only 25 postings away from the one grand mark.. not that I keep track of that sort of thing or even care for that matter. LOL

Welcome Spectram,
I got your mail. I hope to find time for another update this week.

I won the Handicap-Challenge against the Chief Instructor yesterday :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: I did a 3/2/1 and He only managed a 4/2/3 and nearly collpased after the third competition - LOL. I did another 45 minutes of weight work after it and he had to shower and relax, because he couldn't move anymore. Things like this help a lot when you get nearer the 40 and are still able to defeat a pro of 28 years.

Welcome to our newest cruiser, Spectram!!! Now with 2 families who were on the cancelled cruise we are disaster proof??!!! Remember that line from The World According to Garp, when the plane crashes into the house Garp was looking to buy? He said "We'll take it, now it is disaster proof"!!!LOL!

Nancy, you think you are confussed?? You should have seen it when we worked in the same office!!LOL!I'm glad you are halfway though the zapping.

Rosemary, MUSC stands for Medical University of South Carolina.
Shopping in "The City"!!! What fun!Thank goodness the transit stick was averted. What a mess that would have been!

Eric, congrats on the win!:bounce: What's next!!!?????How about a marathon, or an Iron Man??We also liked the James Bond movie. However we were disapointed in the Star Trek movie:(

Eric--- I'm tired as it is and you have just exhausted me from reading about the handicap challenge. I would just like to go back to bed instead of getting ready for work.

Tulirose--- You have the York location correct and yes the Harley Davidson plant and museum is here. Of course, I have never been to it. So if you are ever driving through York you are welcome to come visit me. Our 9/28 cruise was to celebrate our empty nest. Your shopping trip sounded wonderful.

Mike & Kathy--- Congratulations on Stacey's college graduation.

Cathy--- Sorry to hear about your computer. You must have had more ice than we did in your area. We were lucky very little power outage in this end of PA.

Mary & Ave--- You should have gone into two different types of nursing so I wouln't get confused. Twins and both OB/Gyn nursing, no wonder I can't keep it straight.

Both boys are now home from college. It is great to have them home, but increased work (more laundry, cooking). I had no food in our house so just had to do a major shopping trip, that was depressing. I forgot how much it cost to feed them. Tree is decorated and house is now ready for the holiday. Just a few more gifts to buy. Thursday night will be my last hockey tournament meeting and then just need to have the tournament.

Yesterday marked 18 of 36 completed. Lately, I think I'm starting to have a meltdown as my enery level is low but illumination is increasing.

Have a magical day.

Nancy

Go For It, Nancy - Your halfway through!!!

Rosemary,
yes, I start training for the Frankfurt SemiMarathon (Just half the distance, only about 13 miles) in January. The race takes place March, 9th and I aim at a finishing time of less than 2 hours. But I have to get rid of another 10 to 12 pounds before that, because I want to reduce the stress on my joints and tendons. I already run about 25 miles per week and am increasing it to 40 miles per week until the race.

Mike,
just kidding: In winter my usual cruising speed is somewhere between 65 and 80mph, which is more than sufficient.
