Kathy,
we're sad about your doggy :(

We heard that the temps in the East are up to more than 32ºF again, but also that there are still many people living in black-outs.
Fortunately our country is so small that we can afford to have most of the cables underground, just the really huge high-tension lines run on masts and these are very cold-resistant. So black-outs are very rarel experience over here - I can't remember any during my lifetime.
We had the first frost in Frankfurt this night, a good opportunity for the remote controlled heating unit in our car to show its abilities: It's so great to jump into a cosy car which is heated up to nearly 80ºF :smooth: in winter.

alikat99: I am sorry about your DD getting sick. She was SO cute at MNSSHP! I am glad you otherwise had a great time though. Your brother has real CLASS proposing at the Grand Floridian with all the holiday decor. Wow! Did you take pictures? :p

papa: That is BEAUTIFUL - - the pet cemetary in your flower garden and your peke becoming a lily :) . I used to have a pet cemetary when I lived outside the city limits. Now, although still "in the boonies," we are in a neighborhood within the city limits and they don't allow it.

It's really gloomy here - cold and foggy right now. I can't wait to get back to FL in about five weeks! :teeth:

Hello everyone,

We're getting ready to go and get Katie so her mama and dad can get ready for a Christmas party tonight. We are also going to take her to Clarksville with us so she can visit with her Aunt Kathryn. (DD1) and her hubby. Home Depot will be starting on their roof next week and then the walls will come down in the house so new ones can be put up. Whew! I am glad insurance is covering the walls. I just wish they would have covered the one thing that caused it...the ROOF! Then the floor has to be replaced in the kitchen. One word of advice, don't buy repossessed (sp?) mobile homes. They will drive you to drink!

Nurses for Newborns is fun. I am seeing how much help I can really be in some cases. Most of the babies are fine but some of them need just a little help.

Fred Miller and his wife Kim have invited all of us to their home for a Christmas party and surprisingly Mike has agreed to go with me. Could it be because Fred is an NFL player for the Titians or just that he (Mike) volunteers at the Nurses for Newborns office and has met Fred's very pretty wife? Hummmmmmmmmmmm I think I am going to have to watch that boy. ;) All the ladies at NFN just love Mike.

Speaking of Mike, he has just gotten out of the shower and is ready to hit the dusty trail. Take care and I hope we get to see the Magic sail this afternoon. I haven't heard anything about it not sailing.

Kathy With a "K";)

Morning All! Just a quick note to let you guys know I heard from Dan last night. He arrived safe and sound early yesterday a.m. He went to Manhattan during the day and went, guess where - The Disney Store!! He is taking the train out our way early this afternoon. We will be picking him up in roughly 2 hours. Can't wait to see him!!
:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Hi Folks,

The List is in your mailboxes - Check it out.

Gotta hurry now: Anja wants me to help with the dishwashing

So much for the dishes :p

In half an hour we will have "Jingle All The Way" (Thanks, Shari ;) ) on TV, which is a very funny movie with the next governor of California :p On a competing channel they have "Coming to America" starring Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall, but we have that one on DVD (Bought it in the States) and then there's "Mulan" on another channel, but as true Disney-fans we can already dub the dialogues :jester:

Now we have to work on our vacation planning for 2003, because I have to hand it in tomorrow. Apart from the four weeks in the States we have another 2 to 3 weeks to spend during the year and a company rule says, that 90% of our vacation days have to be preplanned. Anja's ward needs the planning at the end of January, but my Employer always wants it Mid-December.

Ok guys. Here we are, Dan, Rich and myself in New York and we just wanna say hi to you guys! Just got done with dinner and dessert and we TALKED ABOUT EACH AND EVERYONE ONE OF YOUS!!!! No, not really... just wanna make you a little paranoid. LOL!!!!

Hi everyone!
Eric , thanks for the list! Welcome to all the new cruisers!

Dan, have a great visit in NY/LI. We expect a full report!

We got our tree this weekend and did the holiday decorations. The kids are just a little excited:p

Hi again - Dan is back at his hotel and I think our visit went very well. I certainly enjoyed his company and I think he enjoyed ours. Of course, we will have to see what he has to say about it upon his return. (Me thinks he thinks I'm a little weird!)

Some catching up is in order here:

Alikat - Welcome back! What beautiful memories were made for your family on this trip. (Well, excluding the memory of your DD getting sick).

Hi Kathy and Mike. You are such great grandparents taking care of little Katie so her mom and dad can play! Good luck with the new roofing project and other work being done. Hope you have good weather the entire time they work on it.

All the ladies at NFN just love Mike
Face it Kathy, Mike is just a very lovable guy!!!

Taswira - Here's hoping your gloomy cold and fog clear up shortly and the weather gets better. And if not, well, five weeks is not too long of a time to wait to return to sunny Florida.

Eric - There are just two of you and it took half an hour to do the dishes?!?! My goodness. Somebody is a slowpoke. :p Have fun with your vacation planning. I'm sure it's not so much the chore you make it out to be. Oh-oh, my green jealous streak just showed itself! :o --- LOL :teeth:

Oh and thanks for the list.

Did I ask this before?.... who is Arlene at the end of the list? -- obviously not a DIS'er because there is no user name. We used to live in the town they are from. If someone knows and don't want to make it public, please P.M. me with the info. Thanks

And finally, HIYA Mary. Hope Dan reports good things back to you. So, your kids are just a little excited about the holidays coming up? LOL!

Rosemary,

you don't know how long we didn't do the dishes :jester: (Just kidding)
If you want to get in touch with Arlene, just mail her. The adress is on the list ;)
The vacation planning is a chore -but also a lot of fun!! I already made three completely different schedules for the Florida vacation alone!! Just to get as much out of the four weeks as possible. But I'm already getting closer to the optimum. Then we'll have a week in June, which we are going to spend at the Baltic Sea and in March/April we have another week for which we don't have plans for so far. As the four weeks in FLA will be kind of expensive, we think about doing a Last-Minute-Deal at a reasonable price, perhaps in Turkey, on a Greek Island or something similar.

o<|:-)>>

How do you like my Santa? :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:
I saw this today in an Email promoting xmas-gifts available in our company-store and thought it so cute, that I had to show it to you.
Today I had to do some Algerian charts and had to exactly what I posted earlier: Find information from many different sources in three different languages: English, French and Arabic (No, I can't read arabic, but we have specialists for it) - Thank God, it's only 8 working days til xmas-vacation starts!!! That is, if I don't have to be in the office on Saturday or Sunday :(
But I think sometimes that we have problems in my company other people would be grateful for: Too much work!! With an unemployment of 4 million people over here it sometimes seems to be ridiculous to do so much overtime, but we can't find enough people with the right qualifications.
As we just recently heard on the news, unemployment is also rising in the States, which already boosted the Euro. But to be honest: I would rather pay some extra-bucks for my vacation, than having so many people without a job. Let's just hope that the Iraq-Crisis is over ASAP, all terrorists end up where they belong to (Hell would be a good preposition), and our world goes back to normal.
BTW, I'm still one of Germans, who support a strict course against that weirdo in Bagdad - Not everyone over here changed sides ;)

And today I made another big decision: I will participate in The Frankfurt City Half-Marathon (13.11 miles) and have the goal to finish in under 2 hours. It will take place 03/09/03 and will be my first try at a distance of more than 4 miles under competition conditions. Now I have to convince Anja to join me ;)

<<(-:l>o

I like your Santa very much, Eric. How do you like mine? Mine's a left-handed Santa!!! LOL How did you do the straight line for the hat? I had to use the small case letter L and it's not right. Is it because you have those weird keyboards over there in Europe??? LOL

I was reluctant to email Arlene without knowing something about her first, especially since she does not seem to be a DIS person. I was wondering how she got on the list. But she emailed me first and I will respond to her as soon as I finish this. A word to the wise for all, however: I almost deleted her email without opening it because I was unfamiliar with the name and there was nothing in the subject line. It is a good idea to write something about Cruise 10/11/03 or The DIS or something similar when writing the first time to someone on the list. Just my opinion for all it matters but I do most of my communicating through this thread anyway. :teeth:

Great evening all! Umm, Sweet Dreams Eric and Anja!! LOL

Edited to add:P.S. - Thanks Eric for your support and letting us know you are not alone in thinking that way over there. I had been wondering lately what has happened all of a sudden. So, hearing your unsolicited support means more than you can know.

Hi Everyone,

We made it down and back from our long weekend @ WDW. Because of the snow on Thursday, our 7:15pm flight was cancelled so we were placed on the 8:40pm flight which never took off until after 1am. Southwest was the only airline flying out of BWI that day and they were working very hard to get everyone to where they needed to be. However, people were being so rude to the SWA staff. It's snowing and ice conditions all over the Northeast and portions of the south and people only worry about themselves. It was entertainment for all those hours we spent at the airport.

We got to do all the Christmas activities. Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party Friday night, Candelight Procession on Sat night, and Osborne Lights Sunday. We had just enough time to see everything that we wanted to see. The Candelight Procession was my favorite and I bought the tape so I can enjoy it at home. Hopefully, Norm and I can make it a yearly tradition for us to go to do all the Christmas activities.

Friday night was cold at the MK for MVMCP, I had to wear my winter coat as it was 46 degrees. It still wasn't as cold as here, but not what I expected. Sat and Sun nights were better, only needed my sweater and light jacket. So now I am back to the real world and very cold weather. I just didn't want to get back on the plane today, when I saw on the weather channel that Harrisburg, PA had record cold on Sunday night.

UPS tried to deliver my son's computers while we were gone, so made arrangements to have him bring them Tuesday.

Kathy and Mike--Sorry about your doggie, but he will always been in your memories.

alikat99---Your were leaving Disney as I was just arriving on12/6 @ 4:30am to check in. Not much happening at that hour @ WDW.

Must get caught up on my other email.

Sad to be back to the real world.

Nancy

Welcome home Nancy. Hope that everyone is doing well. We have been covered up with baby sitting, being Kathy's driver and navigator and our volunteering efforts for nurses for newborns.

Hope that Dan enjoyed his trip to the big apple.

Here is hoping that everyone has a safe and happy holiday season.

Eric I saw a special on the history channel from James Cameron where he lead a expedition to the German battleship Bismark that was very interesting. He also took along several former crewmember that helped with their understanding and layout of the ship.

Is anyone made up their mind about what to do in Cozumel?

Kathy is really enjoying her second job. Although her time is now even more hectic than before. She is keeping both of us hopping and we have now bought a fax machine to send her paperwork in to the office rather than drive downtown.

Have to go and help package Christmas stuff today at nfn for their patients talk to everyone later.

Also thanks for all of the nice wishes about our doggie. Mike

Nancy,

be careful when you have your new computer unpacked in winter: Let it warm up in the house for an hour or so!! This is not a joke: When you bring a huge lump of cold metal (i.e. a computer) into a warm room, the air humidity condensates on and IN it. This may short-circuit the device and cause harm to the sensitive electronics. So take your time, i.e. read the manual ;)

Mike,
we intend to test our Spanish :p in Cozumel - LOL
Do you have any prepositions?

Hi, all!
I've been having a hard time keeping up lately.

alikat99-- Amy, so sorry your little one was sick on your WDW trip. Not a fun thing to happen on vacation, I know. We had a big family vacation 3 years ago, there were 20 of us in a huge beach house on the Gulf coast. One of my sisters and I had our youngest ones sick for a day or so on that trip. We'll be in WDW in 19 days, going to the Candlelight Processional on the 29th. I can't wait! We've never seen it before. Congrats to your brother and his fiance on their engagement. How romantic!

Viking-- Thanks for the updated list. I like your little Santa Claus! o<l:-)>> How do you make the straight up-and-down line? I used lower case 'L', but it's not quite right. OH, I think I found it! o<|:-)>> I used alt124 to get it. Happy vacation planning... you sure get a lot of time! I'm envious since we only get two weeks and throw in a weekend away every now and then.

Kathy & Mike-- It sounds like you're having so much fun with the nfn program..... and with watching little Katie. Is she your first grandchild? I have our little Rebecca today, almost 11 months old, and we sure have a blast with her. Good luck with the home repairs!

Nancy-- So glad you had a nice weekend at WDW. Is the tape you bought of the Candlelight processional a video or audio? We're hoping for warm weather while we're down there, but I used to live in Orlando, so I know how unpredictable the weather can be this time of year.

It seems like everyone had a good time at the 'tulihouse' this past weekend! And we weren't at all worried about you talking about us! LOL
We spent most of the weekend putting up the tree and decorating the house. I still have some lights to put up and set up my Christmas village, but it's looking very festive here.

I'd better run. We have PTA in two hours, so guess I'd best get busy with something for us to eat, etc. Don went to the costume shop today to be measured and reserve a Santa suit. He will be 'helping Santa' by wearing the suit at school again this year for the Santa Social. Last year there was a never-ending line of kids for over two hours to visit Santa!

Take care, all. Stay safe and warm!

Colleen

Happy Birthday Rellingtwin!!!!!   Love Ya!!!

Happy birthday Mary and Ave. Mike and Kathy

Herzliche Glückwünsche zum Geburtstag für Euch beide!!
(Happy Birthday for the two of you)!!

I've got a question: Do the years add up for twins or do you split them between the two of you? ;)

Havea HAPPY birthday Mary and Ave !
Hugs,
Bette & Kim
