Nancy, Had to wear a jacket this morning (7:30) but by lunch time it was comfy in just long pants and polo shirt. I live about 350 NW of Orlando, but temps are still mild. We spent a weekend at the Wilderness Lodge in Dec. 2000. We wore shorts and t-shirts mid-day, but needed sweaters and jeans at night. The kids swam in the pool (heated) but I was not that brave. Everything is SO pretty at Christmas time. Hope you guys have a great time.
Later, Ave'

Temps for Orlando:
Today 45/70, Wed. 55/80, Thurs. 67/73. Light rain is expected tomorrow, LOTS of rain expected on Thursday.

Elaine, I currently live in SC but when we lived in Fl(Panama City) it was about a 7 hour drive (it is the same distance from Panama City to Orlando as it is Charleston to Orlando!) When we lived there we had Florida Resident Passes. They allowed entry to all the parks 280 days of the year (no summer, Christmas,Easter)and it was GREAT! Since we are DVC members we could go just about any long weekend. We got there about 3-4 times a year.
We currently do not have any plans to visit WDW. We will probably skip the cruise in 2004 and do a week at WDW.

Sheri, I hope you will be visiting you mom and sister while in Florida;)

Windy...happy aniversary! Have a nice day no matter where you spend it!

Cathy...you are welcome in Charleston also!Just give me a call when you hit the Lotto!

Actually, up until a few weeks ago I still maintained my own room at my sister's. But she is very non-Disney. Since my dad passed away in May and my mom is alone in her house (about 1 mile from my sister, same community), I now have my own room at her house. I spent my last day in FL moving <I>everything</I> over there. My mom has an FL resident WDW pass and I took her on her first DCL cruise last month. She hung her Disney birthday decorations up in her bedroom when she got home, and she loves going to the parks with me.

As for my sis - She's having a face lift (Ah, she'd KILL me for telling, but none of you know her :p ) on Jan 15 and having a friend look after her. Guess she doesn't want to be seen by her mom and sister until she's gorgeous again! :jester:

Cathy--- You can always drive down the road to see me. You don't even have to win the lottery to do that. Should only be a tank of gas round trip.

Now the weather is calling for snow on Thursday. :( This is like when we tried to get to Fl for the cruise and had to worry about the severe storms in the area. I'm going to be like Scarlett O'Hara and worry about it tomorrow better yet on Thursday.

Since I am always cold, I'm taking jeans and short sleeve shirts along with sweaters to wear at night. Might throw in a light jacket. Of course, since it is freezing here I will have my winter coat for a cold emergency.

Well, I'm off to bed.

Hi Folks,

please welcome Matt and his family, our newest addition to our evergrowing list. As soon as I have some more info sent by him I'll do an update.
If anyone wants to transmit additional info (i.e. your travel agency) please send it until Friday night EST.

Good morning!
Hope everyone is doing well and didn't get hit with the ice storms. It looks like some areas were pretty bad.

I've been lurking on and off, but always seem to get interrupted and can't post.

Well, despite the horrible weather and all the kids just sure they'd either forget what to do or die of embarrassment, Josh's school Telegram Team presented their first telegram Sat. night. They did a great job singing and dancing... all those rehearsals payed off... and they looked great in their shirts, hats, etc. and only one kid dropped their cane! They sing really well together too. It was a retirement party for one of our police officers and the kids were surprised to see so many people, thinking they were just singing for one person. Everyone seemed to enjoy the performance and the guy even stood up and took a bow after the part of the song that said 'stand up and take a bow'. Very cute!

cdnmickeylover-- Hope your son's foot is healing ok. That sounds so painful! I had a laugh over the surprise party.

Nancy and Norm--Enjoy your weekend at WDW! We've never been to see it decked out for the holidays either, but will be at OKW 12/29-1/3 this year. I know this time of year can be unpredictable for Florida weather, but we're hoping for something warmer than Ohio. I was wishing we were there yesterday as I waited for the furnace repairman with outside temps in the 20's and snow on the ground.

Mike and Kathy-- So sorry about your peke. That's such a hard thing to have to do.

Shari-- I guess every family has at least one of those non-Disney people. One of my sisters is that way. She says since she used to work for them she doesn't care to go back often and absolutely refuses to step foot into the Magic Kingdom! I can't imagine it! When we were telling her about the cruise, she said 'Oh, WDW on a boat!' Of course, her kids were then complaining that they never get the fun vacations!

Welcome to Matt and family! Hope to see you posting soon so we can get to know you.

I'm watching our little Rebecca today, so best get busy while she's napping.

Take care,

Colleen

Welcome Matt & family! - Great to have you join us! Tell all your friends to make <I>Cruisetoberfest II</I> ressies with DCL and we'll grow this group to a HUMUNGOUS size. :teeth:

Colleen: My adult nephew says his mom has no imagination. I recently did MNSSHP & the Wonder with him. We had a FANTASTIC time. We are more like "pals" than aunt & nephew. His mother took him once to DL and once to WDW (when it was just MK), & stayed at the park for only two hours!

Mike & Kathy: Very sorry about your peke. Right now I am "dogless." My DH has 3 German Shortairs as his "bird dogs." Two of them are getting old and he's talking of getting another. I was a Chow person. When my last passed from old age, I told DH I wanted a yellow lab pup, but he said "no way." So he has his but I don't have mine. Since we don't have kids, the dogs are "family" and I feel a void there.

Nancy: It's cold here in ID, but everyone is hoping for the snow we're not getting. It's actually too <I>warm</I> in Sun Valley right now for them to make snow, and the real stuff is getting sparse after the holiday skiing. And Viking: If we don't get more snow on the mountain, Adi said he and Arnold will head to a warmer climate for golf instead of skiing Sun Valley at Christmas as usual!

Talking about "at least one non-Disney person per family": Hey, we live in a country where you can call yourself lucky to find one Disney person per family ;) - not counting the kids. Most of our friends and family usually say "Aren't you too old for such stuff?"
You won't find many people above 35 w/o kids in any themepark over here, especially no senior citizens. We Germans tend to be too earnest, too adult :( , but you will definitely meet twoo ecxeptions fronm that behaviour :p

Shari,
over here it's also still too warm with temps in the 40ies, but for tonight a drop below 0ºC (32ºF) is predicted. I already asked myself why I mounted the snow tyres to our car. Talking about Adi's skiing partner: This weekend we will have that xmas-movie of his on TV: The one in which he plays a stressed Dad, who has to get a Turbo-Man at any cost. I don't know it's American title, but over here it's : A promise is a promise! My Arnie-DVD-Collection is also growing like our list: I just bought Kaktus-Jack, Kindergarten Cop and pre-ordered Collateral Damage.

Viking: Over here I <I>think</I> it is titled "<I>Jingle All The Way.</I>" Entertaining flick!

Mike and Kathy, SO sorry about your dog! :( :( :( :(
{{{{{{{{{{{{{Hugs}}}}}}}}}}}} to you both. Ave

To all:

Just wanted to brag and tell you all that I get to see my dearest Rosemary (and Rich) this weekend. I am so excited!

Dan

Hi Folks,
I just read in the news that winter has started the hard way in the East with black-outs, chaotic conditions on the streets and 22 fatalities. We hope that all of you and your families are OK.

Our thoughts are with you

Anja & Eric

Mike and Kathy - I am also sorry about your little Peke. .. :(

Cathy - Hope your wrist is doing better.

Best wishes to all. Been having trouble keeping up with the thread. Just all stay safe and warm!

I don't think that "WHAT" is the question, it's "HOW MUCH" :jester: Sorry, Dan, I just couldn't resist. Travel carefully and arrive and return safely!!

I'll do an update Saturday night or Sunday morning (Our time). Have to be in the office tomorrow :( , but all that overtime will pay for a lot of extras before and during the cruise :p

What is a peke? Is it a nickname for a pekinese dog? And what happened? I just missed the beginning, I think

Hi all -

We just got back from 6 days at WDW in the VWL. The weather here in FL this week was quite nice. But, today it was cold and rainy all day. Ick!!! Nothing like ending your vacation with icky weather. Anyway, overall it was a good time, but I had to pass on a lot of activities with the family (there were 13 of us), because DD got sick. She's only 14 months old, so it's hard to see her sick. Thank goodness for the washer/dryer in the villas, since I had to do so much laundry. But, the good news is that she seems to be doing better.

The decorations were beautiful around WDW, but I never got to see the Osborne lights or MVMCP, because of Emily's sickness. But, we were able to make it to the Candlelight Processional. It was just as wonderful this year, as it has been the past 3 years. We had John Tesh as narrarator. It was wonderful.

But, the highlight of our trip was the first night. My brother proposed to his girlfriend at the Grand Floridian with all of the beautiful decorations. Then, my DH had the band play a song just for them. It was a very special day for the both of them. Then, my DH, being the nut that he is, was telling everyone that they got engaged. Everyone in the lobby, everyone on the monorail, everyone on the boat, EVERYONE!!! It was quite fun.

Well, now I'm on the countdown to Cruisetoberfest II.

alikat99, Sorry about your DD getting sick, but the rest of your trip sounded great. And the proposal stuff made me teary eyed.

Sorry about Emily getting sick. We just went through that with Katie who is 6 months old. She had an awful cold and was very congested. She went to the doctor and was diagnosed with a virus so no antibiotics was needed. They said the cold would run it's course in 2 weeks. Meanwhile she got sicker and needed a breathing treatment and then was on albuterol q 4-6 hours prn. Happily, she is well now and in fine form.:bounce:

Yes Eric, the peke is a pekingnese dog and he was my only male. All of them were registered but mostly just lovable mutts. He was my dog. I think he got hurt but it was never admitted to so... Anyway he was hurting and I can't stand to see an animal hurting so Mike took him to the vets and had him put down. He is buried in the pet cemetary in my front flower garden. Next summer he will be a lily.

Rosemary, I would suggest NOT taking Dan to the Burger King. Otherwise anything goes. Have fun.

Hi Cathy with a "C" hope your little paw is better. Don't come down here with anything hurting...I have a $35.00 cure all for hurts, sickness and seizures. :( How is Joseph? (I can't spell Eli ) ;)

Thank you all for your condolences. Gotta get to bed. I have to go to Clarksville tomorrow to see DD1. Oh yes, I nearly forgot. We had one fatality in the ice storm we had in Clarksville. Sadly it was one of the women that DD1 works with. She was upset about it.

Take care everyone. It is COLD here tonight. It is now in the 20's

One more thing. Elaine, did William get his pins? Did he like them? I hope so and I hope I didn't duplicate any.

Kathy, with a "K";)
