Welcome to new additions Amy and Colleen!

Eric, I sent you some info for your next update.

We had a little excitement here in Charleston! An Earthquake! Charleston has had earthquakes before. The biggest one in 1886 which did major damage to the city. The one we had Monday evening was a 4.2 and was centered off shore. I did not feel a thing!I sure hope we do not get a "big" one because if anything happened to all the bridges in this area, we would be in BIG trouble! Charleston is made up of a bunch of islands connected by a mulititude of bridges. When just one is closed for any reason the city is in a tailspin! I can't imagine what would happen if several (or all:eek: ) the bridges were closed!

Harry Potter premire this weekend!!!!!!

Welcome aboard to all of our new members.

Glad that everything was ok after charleston swiveled it's hips like Elvis, Mary.

Congratulations on the weight loss Eric. Keep up the good work, just don't eat too many Brats, beer and strudel. It would make it hard to fit into your Austrian leiderhosen when we are on castaway cay:bounce:

I have been using my gps with autorouting to take Kathy to her new clients with nurses for newborns and it is working great.

Cathy hopt that the paw is doing better and it was good to talk to you last night again.

Rosemary good to hear that you and Rich are on the mend. Sorry to hear that you were sick. Mike

Mike,
perhaps I will do you the favour and get myself some Lederhosen (German ones, of course!!), but you have to wear a 10-Gallon-Hat on CC then. If I make a prejudice come true, you'll have to do the same. I'll have to buy some new wardrobe anyway, all my pants are too wide now and the shirts and jackets are getting a bit tight around the shoulders.

Toníght I could make good use of my weightloss: We had our 6th annual Jeppesen-Kart-Race and I finished FIRST :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:
Last year I was second and now the goldmedal decorates my computerroom together with the silvermedal from last year's race and my Mickey-Nr.1-Medal I was awarded with during Cruisetoberfest (For my perfomance as one of the Village People during the 70ies-Night).
We rented the whole indoorracetrack for the 12 of us for a 10-minute qualifying session and a 20-minute race. The karts reach topspeeds of about 40mph and are fun to drive. It's kind of expensive (about $400 for this session + another $300 for a dinner buffet), but really worth the bucks.

Hi Everyone,

Haven't posted in a while although I've kept up with the thread (with difficulty).

Glad that everyone is recovering from various ills. Watched CNN and saw the terrible damage from the storms. Just awful. We had a lot of rain here but no tornados which are very rare.

Welcome Colleen -- glad that there will be another first time cruiser on board so that we won't be the only ones.

Would love to spend Christmas at WDW but unfortunately it's the end of the year and everything is due by the 31st. At this point I'll even be in the office on the 31st unless the transaction gets moved which I'm hoping it will.

Take care everyone. It's getting closer.

Thanks, again, for the welcomes... what a nice group!

Dan- We'll be getting the Buckeyes from the Harry London's near the Akron/Canton airport. Our daughter and her husband usually make a candy run to that one just before Christmas, so I can have them check out some prices for us.

Tulirose and Rich- Hope everyone's feeling better. If it's the same tummy thing that swept through here last week, you definitely have our sympathies.

Viking- I'm in awe of your willpower to resist the treats. Congrats on the 22 pounds lost! I have about 30 I'd like to lose also. It's quite a battle.
I hadn't thought of Kermit's assistant in relation to the scootersmom name. Funny. Actually, my late fil called our youngest 'Scooter'. He passed away when Josh was 3 1/2 and Josh has never let anyone else call him that. He said only Grandpa Bart can call me that... announced from the back seat of the car on the way home from Hospice one night... it was so sad, because at 3 1/2 he had no concept of the idea that Grandpa Bart wouldn't be with us to call him Scooter. Anyway, I try to sneak the name in here and there to keep it 'alive', so to speak. I'm sure that's more than you wanted to know! :-)

Relling Twin- We have occasional small earthquakes here too. Just enough motion so we wonder what it was till we see it in the news later. Are you going to see the Harry Potter movie this weekend? We've been anxiously awaiting it here.

Well, I've had our little granddaughter here all day and she's still napping. I'd better go wake her up or she'll be keeping her mom and dad up all night. The child does like to sleep!

Colleen

Congratulations on the victory Eric and the weight loss. I already qualify for most of the prejudices for southerners. I wear bib overalls, my neck turns red in the sun and I say y'all. :teeth: I was 14 before I found out damn yankee was two words.:teeth: (just kidding) We had the honor of dining with three wonderful people from New York last year. The Tulipans. This year it was our great honor to be able to dine with our Siamese twins from Pennsylvania the Werners:bounce:

Nancy hope that everything is going well with your sons in school.

Mary give the kids a squeeze and tell George we said hello.

Ave hope that Casey is not running too fast for Mark.

Want to welcome all of our new dis friends also. Mike

Colleen,
I like the story and I already like your son ;) BTW I just ordered online-tickets for the new Harry Potter movie for tomorrow night. Anja works the lateshift tomorrow and we will see the movie as a late night feature 10pm til 1am. I read the books twice in English and Anja's got the German edition. I'm really looking forward to Volume V.

Mike,
I just hope that the "Damn Yankees" do not want to keelhaul the "Johnny Reb" when we're on the ship :jester:
I think the relations between Southeners and Northernes are very similar to those between Hessians (The federal State I live in is Hesse) and the Bavarians: They tell jokes about us and we tell the truth about them - LOL Or between the Wessies (That's the nickname for us Germans who lived in the Western part before the reunification) and the Ossies (The former East Germans - East=Ost in German).

Dan'n'Scott,
it's great to have you as neigbors. Did you see that we already own this part of the deck? Shari (Taswira) has 7628, then it's us in 7624 and your three staterooms. We're gonna have the longest verandah on the ship :jester:
Anja says "Hi" and assures you of her eternal friendship for your kind offer of sending her favourite treat. Shall we send something special from Germany in return? We've got a fruit-gum boutique in Frankfurt selling every flavour in 2-pound-bags - Even Pina-Colada-gums. Or Swiss chocalate? Just say what you want!!

Hey, What's up here?
I just lost about 400 posts
Yesterday I was over 1100, now I'm down to 729!!
This isn't the first time that this happens - I lost about 300 posts and 5 months of DIS-time in '99.

Eric - I guess your Weight Loss is turning into a Post Loss too. :p :p

No- actually I read somewhere that there was a problem and the only to fix the lost post counts would mean to lose an entire day of posts. I don't understand it but the Webmaster said that losing an entire day of posts is unacceptable sooooo....

If you wanna bring that post count back up, keep on posting!!!
;)

Hey Tulirose, hope that you and Rich are doing better. Eric I really haven't paid attention to the post count. Don't worry we will do as well if not better than 09/21/2001 thread. Mike

Hi Mike. Rich is still coughing away. I had something else. Finished my course of antibiotics. Got me on antihistamines still and nasal spray too!! I never had sinusitis before and I will NEVER pooh-pooh that diagnosis again. I thought something was mentally wrong with me! I was in such a fog. (Oh No! I think I just left myself open for some cheap potshots!)

  :teeth:

Eric - The following is an interesting link (with another link included in it) regarding the missing posts, if you care to check it out.
Missing Post Link with a Link to "Official" Tech explanation
