*Cost?
It's $20/person for 3 hours. Kids 10 years and under are FREE. Prepayment by check is required two months prior to excursion (August). They don't take credit cards. If you are from outside the US, US Money Orders are accepted or if you have a US dollar account from a foreign bank you can draw a check on that.

We will be sending our checks to the following address:

The Southernmost Scavenger Hunt
3301 Pearl Ave
Key West, FL 33040

Please include a self addressed stamped envelope and also a NOTE with your names, e-mail address, date of hunt and DIS name. A new check will be issued from The Southernmost Scavenger Hunt to the envelope addressee and only be returned if the hunt is canceled due to the ship not arriving in Key West. No additional refunds will be made for cancellations, or people not arriving for the event.

***YOU MAY SEND CHECKS IN NOW***

*Place and time?
We are going to meet on Sunday, October 12th, 2003 at 1PM in front of the stairs to the Hilton Hotel Lobby. It's to the right of the red brick building (Custom House) as you leave the ship. The Magic usually docks in front of the Hilton Hotel. The hunt lasts from 1 PM to 4 PM. Remember to wear your ScavengEar t-shirts designed by @GoofyNut.

NOTE: The location may be moved since we are a large group. They'll let us know the exact start location and check in time closer to the event.

*Electric Cart?
If one needs an electric cart, the scavenger hunt people can point you in the right direction to rent one. The two electric cart places they use are Key West Cruisers @ (305)294-4724 http://keywest.com/keywestcruisers/ on Truman Ave at Truman and Duval and Reef Mobile (formerly Randal J Scooters) @ (305) 296-0208 www.reefmobile.com on Greene Street (near Sloppy Joes Bar on Duval). The Reef Mobile Electric Carts are themed, but have changed management and are going to be themed according to "reefs", like shark, manatee, dolphin, baracouda or octopus in a reef theme instead of the polka-dotted one on the hunt website. Call these companies to make reservations if you require an electric cart. An electric cart isn't necessary to experience this tour.

*Sites?
Southermost Point, Hemmingways House, Shipwreck, Cigar Place, Shrimp Dock and off the wall places you might not normally have known about. The normal Key West sites plus some interesting wacky ones, too. Learn about interesting facts and trivia of these landmarks and sites.

*Hunting for objects?
In addition to searching for the sites and answering the clues (all for points are counted at the end for prizes), there is an object named "PINKY". He is their mascot and if you find him, he is worth an extra 50 points. People in Key West know of Pinky the Flamingo. He's famous. As our award winning scavenger hunt is, too.

Since we are the ScavengEar hunt, our hunt has to have a pair of Mickey Ears, too. The back is sewn with the words "Pinky". At the end of the hunt, people gather at the "mystery location" for the awards ceremony where all the points are tallied and stories of our hunt are told.

That's it for now. They will be checking in on us to give our group more information, so they will be posting shortly and I will also. If more people want to join the group, just reply to this thread. If I missed someone, sorry. Just remind me, and I'll add you.

What a day! It's ALMOST not worth having a extra day off as it seems we have to do 2 days worth of work in one day. :(

The good news is my co-worker who has been off for 2 and 1/2 months can in today for her post-op check and has been cleared to return to work (1/2 days) starting next week.

BUT...I can deal with ANYTHING that comes my way since the cruise is SO CLOSE!!!:bounce:

No docs here yet, but I'm sure they'll be here soon!

Weather here in Florida stinks.. I took today off to go to the beach and miss the crowds, we had about 2 hours before it started to rain, wouldn't have been so bad except it's almost a 5 hour round trip to Sanibel and back.. oh well

At least we got to try out some of our beach gear for Castaway Cay

Dan ... When you cruise, will you be on the Wonder or Magic? If by chance you are on the Wonder ... could you do me a really big favor - I'm trying to get a pin of the Ariel Statue. I have one of the Captain Mickey (in bronze or gold or whatever) but I haven't been able to get one of the Ariel. Honest, I'll give you the $ when we meet on the Magic.

Back to Big Brother ...............

Dan and Scott...have a wonderful cruise...we're jealous!!! It has gotten really cold here and rainy all day...supposed to be gloomy all week.

School starts tomorrow!! Hope we make the bus!!

Maybe with Dan on the cruise, I can make the #5800 post since he has been known to steal posts from unsuspecting posters!!

I will be on the Wonder next week...I'll take a look for that Ariel pin for you @goofynut!

I finally got our excursions booked this morning. We will be doing the Grand Cayman Island Tour at 1:25 and in Cozumel we will be on the Fury Cataraman Sail/Snorkel/Beach excursion.

I think all I have left to do is Shirts, Some dinner arrangements for the 18th, Priority Seating for the Mexican Place at Epcot for the 19th and buy our Universal Tickets from AAA. I guess they are now offering a one day two park pass for $69.

Hopefully docs will arrive soon

Best wishes to all,

Chris and Michelle

Only 40 days till Disney Time

Universal gives you a 5-day/two-park-pass for $89.99, but on-line only. You get a ressie number and can retrieve it at the gates from a vending machine or have it delivered home via mail.

Goofy Nut -- the names of adults in our party would be me, Lisa, and my DH, Mike

We plan on being at the CC party

No cruise docs yet :(

Five weeks from today we'll be on the road! :Pinkbounc :bounce:

For those who were looking for Palo seating capacity...

Per the latest Disney Cruise Line Brochure, Palo seats 138.

Eric, Thanks for the Info on the Universal Tickets. That is an incredible deal. As we are only going for one day, I had to find a one day two park ticket, which are pretty hard to find anyway. The ticket I mentioned before is apparently for AAA members only. Special web site and everything. I just bought the tickets online this morning. 1 day 2 park tickets for $69.95 + tax. But you are right on about picking them up at a Kiosk at Universal. If there are any other AAA members who are interested in this deal, let me know and I will post the web site.

Best Wishes,
Chris DeFouw

got our excursions booked this morning. COOL..............

Will tell you later........ what we plan to do....

Hope,

the celfonlist in Adobe-PDF-format is in your mailbox - Check it out.
If there's anyone else in need of it: Just tell me.

Jeff,
congrats on the booking. The only thing we have to book are some floats for CC: The Hunt on Key West, Cpt Marv's on Grand Cayman and a diving trip in Cozumel are all already arranged.
We still hope to find time to meet Gaby & you again before the cruise, but for the time being it looks like Anja has to work the lateshift this weekend :( and I will be at the office early  This time we really have to earn our vacation the hard way.

Colleen,

thanks a lot for the celfonlist and for remembering that we will need it earlier than the rest of the gang
