CRT and getting a Refund

I have CRT booked right now and paid via credit card. If free dining comes out for my dates, will Disney just refund my card for the amount that I paid and transfer my reservation over to the dining plan?

Yes. Just advise them when you go to the table so they can refund you before they bring the bill for you to sign.

Once we used our TIW card at the end of our meal. Instead of crediting my credit card for the difference, they gave me a gift card with the balance. They did not give me an option of credit back to my card or the gift card as they simply returned with the gift card. I didn't mind since I knew those funds would be used for other purchases/meals during our stay. But if this is a problem for you, please be sure to request a refund to your card when you approach the server.

We did this too but we didn't need a refund, we ordered the Cinderella Slipper and with the different with our TIW card, we basically got the slippers for free.

Did you pre-order the slipper or did you order it at your dinner reservation? We have pre-ordered our slippers each time we do CRT and have paid for them in advance.

We ordered them once we had arrived at WDW a few days before the meal. They didn't ask us to prepay but they took credit card details.

For clarification, you can tell them at CRT to pay use the DDP and they'll refund your card. However, Disney will not automatically transfer your payment to the DDP without you telling them to do that.

I did the same thing and added free dining to my October trip with a PIN code. I read here that people had mixed results when calling Disney Dining. Not that they weren't able to get their prepayment credited back on their credit card, but that they lost their original ADR time. I called this morning and the CM told me she wasn't able to do it (I would have had to cancel my 8:05 ADR and rebook at 8:25), but she volunteered to call her supervisor to see if they could. She also told me that it would be no problem doing it at the check-in desk that morning. Since I'd rather earn interest on my money over the next 3 months rather than let Disney, I asked her to go ahead and check with her supervisor. 5 minutes later I was all set and now I don't have to worry about it when I get there!
