Has anybody visited in mid January? I heard that crowds are nowhere to be found in mid January. Is this true? If not, when is Disney less crowded?

we went jan 18-25th 2003 and crowds were extremely low, except for the MK.

MLK Weekend is such a great time to go! It can be a bit nippy (for Florida) and swimming might not be a popular agenda item, but for touring the parks it is GREAT!

Disney is much less crowded on non-holiday weekends in Nov., Dec., January, and Feb.! If you go to the MK on a weekday, you will be able to just walk on most rides (more crowded on weekends, though, but still not awful).

We went very end of Jan. this year, away from holiday weekends (MLK, Presidents' Day) and reveled in the absence of crowds. We were in MK on Saturday and Sunday, from park opening (and on Sun., EMH) to late afternoon and absolutely did everything in spades. I'd prepared for some crowds because I understood MK is almost always crowded on weekends, but the off-season and rain seemed to whittle those down.

I.e., on Sat. early afternoon we rode Splash twice in a row with no wait whatsoever, walked on nearly everything. We walked onto the front row of the 3 p.m. parade--at precisely parade time. You get the drift-- heaven! I'll add my boys are 4 and 6 and because there were no waits, they were complete troopers. We didn't even return to FW cabin during the day, as I'd planned, because the mild/lowish temps and absence of lines kept them fueled.

I'd highly recommend going in January, but I'd try to skirt those winter holiday weekends if you have a choice. It makes a big difference. :jester:
